OLIVIA’S P. O. V.
I can’t help but feel anxious. This is not something that I want to live through again. I desperately want to hear something, but at the same time I don’t want to hear bad news. I spend the time pacing. Craig watches me debating. I am sure he thinks he should make me sit down. Bianca is trying to entertain the children. They have become nervous and anxious too. I don’t know how to help.
A link comes through from Victor to me. “Baby, don’t worry we got this.” I can feel the anxiety coming through on his side. He is lying to me again. “Listen, no matter what happens I love you. Don’t you ever forget that. If I don’t make it back from this you need to take care of the pack. You hear me girl, don’t sulk. Be strong.”
“Victor, this is not your farewell to me. You better get your ass back here.”
“I am doing my best babe.”
Then he is silent. I know something is wrong. Something happened. I turn to head for the door, but Craig reaches out and grabs my arm. “I am sure that he is just fighting. He is stronger than he looks. Especially now that he has you to come back to.”
I yank out of his arm. I don’t want to hear this. I need to get to him. To them. I run shifting as I run. My reddish brown wolf running through the trees. I swear there is someone behind me but I don’t care, I need to get there. I run without stopping. I know now the one behind me was Craig, he apparently decided against stopping me and has decided to join me. Now he runs alongside me.
“Olivia when we approach we need to hold back and assess the situation.” He links to me.
“Right.” I know what to do.
When we hit the tree line of the clearing the carnage was enough to make me stop in my tracks. I scan the area. It isn’t good. There are several wolves laying on the ground dead. I can’t tell which side they are on, but I don’t like to see this. The Rogue leader is just standing there on the opposite end of the clearing just grinning at the carnage. This enrages me. I charge him. Craig is close behind. I have a single goal to kill this rogue. I have never wanted to kill anyone in my life.
I close in and before the rogue even notices me I have him pinned on the ground and my teeth are wrapped around his throat. I don’t even hesitate when I shake my snout until I hear his heart stop. Not only did his heart stop but so did the battle. Everyone has shifted back to humans. This is an embarrassing sight to say the least. We are wolves and it affects us little but it is a bit much.
I am still in my fur when I turn to look at them, blood dripping down my snout. Panic spreads through the rogues. Several run off. Our wolves quickly grab up the rest. Then there are cheers. At first I thought that the cheers were for the end of the battle, but then I look again and the wolves are cheering for me. Even some of the rogues are cheering for me. I am not sure what that is about. I scan the crowd for the familiar wolves I came to protect.
Peter and Benjamin are looking down. They are the only ones not looking at me. Then I follow their gaze, there on the ground laying motionless is Victor.
