Lockie’s pov
Holding the phone, he had just hung up, I looked down at Romeo.
Romeo said unhappily, “Dad, why did you hang up on me? I am challenging someone.”
“Who are you challenging and what’s his name?”
“Cheney.”
I was surprised. “Are you sure?”
“Yeah, I asked him what his name was, and he said his name was Cheney.”
“This man, why is he holding your mother’s mobile phone?”
I looked at the time. It was morning.
Maybe, Krista, that girl, is entangled with Cheney again? Or is Cheney stalking Krista again?
I was shaking my mind when Romeo said, “Dad, give me your cell phone, and I will continue to challenge Cheney.”
I rubbed Romeo’s head and said, “That Cheney man, you must stay away from him in the future, because he is not friendly to your mother at all, okay?”
“But he said he was Krista’s husband.”
I shook my head. “Krista is beautiful. Many people want to marry her. He will want to be Krista’s husband. It’s understandable, right?”
Romeo nodded. “Yes, I can be Krista’s husband.”
I smiled. “Did you tell him who you are?”
“I said, my name is Romeo.”
“No, dad means, did you tell him that you are Krista’s son?”
Romeo shook his head calmly. “I thought you said, don’t let anyone know that I am Krista’s son. So, I did it.”
I relaxed a few minutes and rubbed his head. “Boy, have a good look. After a while, my little dad will take you to the amusement park.”
“Really?”
“What do you think? Go to your aunt to change clothes, let’s go out now.”
Romeo ran upstairs with a happy face and went to find his aunt.
I breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, Romeo didn’t say anything. It’s just… Cheney doesn’t suspect anything, does he? And how did this Krista give Cheney her mobile phone? I’m really curious, what happened that I don’t know? It seems that in the future, I really can’t let Romeo call Krista casually.
Krista’s pov
I was surprised to come to my father’s grave. If it weren’t for the tombstone I really thought I was looking in the wrong place. Dad’s grave has been repaired. Surrounded by a small courtyard, it seems that it is very atmospheric. But I’m wondering. Over the years, I haven’t come back, and my mother won’t do such a thing. So… who else will come here to help Dad fix the cemetery? I will take back my doubts and decide to sit down and call the administrator later.
Looking at my father’s photo, I squatted down and put down the fruit basket and flowers. “Dad, do you miss me? In the years I left, great changes have taken place in my life. I became a mother and had my own little softness. Your grandson is a very likable smart ghost with a sweet mouth and loves me very much. Over the years, because of him, my life has become less tasteless.”
I squatted in front of the tombstone for a long time, then I decided to come back to the car. I got in the car, took my bag from the back seat, and looked for my mobile phone.
Cheney said, “Who to call?”
I looked through my mobile phone and said, “The administrator of the cemetery.”
“Why?”
“Well, my dad’s tomb has been repaired. I want to ask who repaired it.”
He calmly said, “Just ask me.”
I turned to look at him in surprise. “You fixed it?”
“I arranged for someone to repair it. Before that, it looked a bit shabby and didn’t look like the treatment that my old father-in-law should have.”
I was speechless. “You really make your own decisions.” But wait, son-in-law?
“Every time I come and see such chaos here, I feel that it will affect the mood of my father-in-law who died under Jiuquan. You know, I like to pursue perfection.”
I read him, “Do you come often?”
“Every year, when I need to pay homage to my ancestors, I come. If you are a daughter, you can’t let the elderly go unattended, can you?”
Hearing him say this, my heart was moved by “Thank you.”
He pointed to my cell phone. “Just now, Romeo called you.”
When I heard the word Romeo, my heart went to my throat.
I looked at him and swallowed nervously. “Romeo?”
He frowned. “Why are you looking at me like this? Who is this child? You seem to know each other very well.”
I clenched the palm of my hand, and instantly sweated. How should I answer it? Just now, what did Romeo say to him? Did you spill the beans? He asked now, is it true that he doesn’t know anything, or is he testing me? Should I lie? Or tell the truth? If he won’t let me go all the time, how long can I hide it? I thought about it and picked a better statement. “I grew up watching Romeo, and he is a lovely child.”
“You grew up watching? Whose child?”
I shrugged. “I’m sorry I can’t tell you this.”
He snorted, “You have so many secrets.”
He started the car and left. I was relieved to see his face without any waves. It seems that they didn’t talk about anything.
“By the way, you promised to marry that boy when he grew up?”
“Huh?” I wonder.
“That boy wants to fight me one-on-one and say that he will marry you when he grows up.”
I sipped my lips and smiled. “Yeah.”
“Why, you did?”
“Someone joked with him and asked him if he wanted a wife. He said no because he wanted to marry me when he grew up.”
He disdains “a small fart child, but he knows how to see women.”
I see him, is this a compliment to me? “Children’s jokes are often more interesting.”
“Well, what’s interesting? I think his adults have problems with his education. Such a little child wants to marry a wife.”
I was speechless when I was angry with him for being angry with a child. “Romeo is just a child. Children’s words are interesting. Just listen to jokes. Why attack other people’s parents?”
Cheney sent me downstairs in the community, watched me enter the building door, and left first.
As soon as I got home, I called Lockie. Lockie picked it up, but he didn’t speak.
I asked, “Lockie, where are you?”
“It’s really you. Why did Cheney have your mobile phone just now?”
“Cheney stayed at my place last night and sent me to the cemetery today. When I went to visit my dad’s grave, my schoolbag was put in his car.”
“He stayed with you?”
I was speechless. “Don’t think wrong. We didn’t do anything. He just drank too much and went to my place. I couldn’t get rid of him, and I was afraid that he would make trouble.”
“This man didn’t mean it.”
“I don’t know. I never understood him. He said he just got a call from Romeo. Romeo didn’t say anything.”
Lockie proudly said, “Fortunately, I taught well, this boy is clever and didn’t say anything, but it sounds that this boy’s first impression of Cheney is very poor.”
Hearing this, my heart was inexplicably lost. It is said that there is telepathy between father and son. I wonder if Cheney’s impression of Romeo will be very good. Thinking of what he said about six years ago in the car today, she was a little entangled.
If he had come to the dumpling restaurant instead of going to the hospital that night six years ago, perhaps the result would have been completely different now. To tell the truth, I ran with the ball like this, which made Cheney miss the child’s growth. If he knew, how would he feel?
Some things, really dare not think deeply.
