Chapter 115

“Mother.”
“Hmm?” I recovered.
“I made new friends in kindergarten.”
I’m a little happy. “Really? It seems that my Romeo is very popular. Then I want to ask you something, was the kindergarten teacher good?”
Romeo nodded again and again. “Kindergarten teachers are beautiful and gentle, but they are still not as beautiful as you mom.”
I smiled and pinched Romeo’s little fleshy face. “Boy, you have a good eye.”
Lockie was speechless. “You girls, why do you have  to be so disgusting?”
Romeo raised his little face and proudly said, “My mother is the most beautiful person on earth.”
While we were laughing, uncle Kingston just came back from the company.
Kingston was also very happy to see me. “Krista, welcome back.”
I walked over and gave him a hug. “Uncle Kingston, I’m back.”
“It’s good that you’re back. I’m going to have someone take you home after dinner. It seems to save trouble.”
I let go of him, smiled and said, “I came to your house for some rice, so why am I feeling that you already want me out?” I joked.
He patted me on the shoulder. “You girl.” After saying that, he advised the maids to prepare dinner.
At dinner, Uncle asked me about my current situation and when I was going to work in the company.
When he mentioned going to work, I thought of Cheney’s words earlier.
I smiled at Kingston and said, “Next week.”
“Yes, you can come anytime. You are welcome to the Irwin group.”
I am grateful to say, “It’s really good to have someone to take in after not coming back for so long.”
“You girl, what take-in, isn’t this your home?”
I smiled thankfully at him. Yes, Lockie and Uncle Kingston were always a family to me. Aren’t they always the warmest guardians of my family?
After dinner, Romeo and I stayed alone for a while, and then we left reluctantly.
Why did I not feel that it was such a happy thing to be able to accompany each other every day when we were together before?
When I left, Lockie sent a driver to take me back to the Leaf Court.
I got off the car at the gate of the community and walked back to the gate of the building alone.
When I was just about to enter the building, the car parked at the door opened. It was Cheney who got off the car.
I looked at him and was somewhat surprised why he came again.
Cheney has a cold face. “Where have you been?”
I said frankly, “I went to visit Uncle Kingston.”
He frowned. “You are really attentive to the father and son of the Irwin family.”
“Are you here to find fault?”
He was unhappy. “What did you say?”
“I don’t know. I’m not a worm in your stomach.”
It makes me very upset to think that because of him, I can’t live with Romeo.
“What’s the matter with you coming here at this time?”
“I came here two hours ago. What do you think I came here for?”
At six o’clock.
“You didn’t eat?”
“Of course.” he said, and walked into the building.
As he passed me, he said, “I’m hungry. Cook me some noodles.”
I looked at his back, and thought that it was helpless to argue.
Why is he so comfortable here? Did he save food with me?
But I thought about it, and I went upstairs with him.
After entering the house, I changed my shoes and went to the kitchen.
I wanted to say that there was no food in the kitchen, but I didn’t think about it. Lockie was so thoughtful that she filled my kitchen.
After I was depressed for a while, I pulled my sleeves, washed my hands and helped him cook noodles.
Ten minutes later, I came out with a bowl of hot noodles.
He was already sitting at the table with a gold bracelet on it.
That bracelet, I am too familiar with, it was the “family heirloom bracelet” that his grandmother gave me.
What does he mean by putting this bracelet here now?
Cheney’s pov
She sat down in front of me and looked down at the bracelet.
“Why is this bracelet here?”
I hooked my lips. “You have always been smart, don’t you know?”
“Smart people have things that they don’t understand. I really don’t know what you mean by putting it here.”
“This is yours.”
She looked at me and said seriously, “This is Grandma’s, for her real grandson’s wife, and I am not.”
I said coldly, “Grandma said yes, you are.”
“If the law says I am not, I am not.”
“What if the law says you are?”
Her face was bitter. “Cheney, everyone is not fault-finder, can you not wrangle? I am an outsider, holding the bracelet that Grandma wants to give the Fischer family grandson’s wife. Do you think it is appropriate?”
“If you don’t think it’s appropriate, you can return it to Grandma in person.” I picked up chopsticks, calmly picked up noodles, and said while cooling it, “I am not your postman.”
Instead of moving the bracelet, she turned and walked into the living room, sat down on the sofa and turned on the TV.
I ate the noodles cooked by her own hands, which still tasted like before.
I never thought I liked noodles before.
But after being with her, I really changed a lot.
It is said that once people fall in love, they are easily assimilated by the people they love.
I used to think that this kind of thing could not happen.
But after my own experience, I realized that everything is possible.
Now I only think that this matter is very sad for the person who fell in love first.
When a person leaves another person, feeling that life is worse than death and life is boring, another person still lives in a light cloud.
That feeling …
I wish Krista could understand.
After I finished eating, I put down my bowl, got up, walked to her and sat down. “Come back to the Fischer’s mansion with me tomorrow.”
“I don’t have time tomorrow.”
I disdain to smile. This is what I expected. “What are you busy with?”
“I… I have a lot of things to buy.”
“I’ll buy it for you.”
She bowed her head. “No, I can prepare my own things.”
I turned to look at her. “Krista, your conscience, was it eaten by the dog?”
She looked at me, too.
“After six years, you finally came back from outside the city. You didn’t forget to visit Kingston, but you didn’t visit my grandparents? Why? When you lived in the Fischer’s mansion, did my grandparents mistreat you? Or, in those days, when you treated them as relatives, were you just pretending?”
“Do you have to make your words so ugly?”
“You feel uncomfortable, isn’t it because my words poked your mind?”
Krista clenched her fist. “I wish my conscience could be eaten by the dog. Then, even if I go to see your grandparents with you, why not?”
