Rashad’s pov
In the hospital, after Flora fell asleep, I said hello to Uncle Jacob and left first. Driving back to the Fischer’s mansion, I came to the Jade Court to find Cheney and Krista, but they haven’t come back yet. I sat at the door of the Jade Court and waited. After nearly half an hour, the two men walked back from a distance.
I stepped forward and blocked the way of the two men. “Don’t go, I have something to say to you.”
I looked at Krista. “Did you know Flora was hospitalized?”
Krista nodded. “Of course.”
Cheney frowned. “Krista, go in. Rashad, if you have something to say, just talk to me alone.”
I sank and looked at Krista. “Wait a minute, my uncle won’t divorce you and take responsibility for Flora. I can understand. After all, he married you first and Flora woke up later, but don’t you two think you have gone too far?”
They frowned at me. “Where have we gone too far?”\
I took out my mobile phone and turned on the video in it.
Seeing the video, Cheney frowned and Krista was surprised. “How is this…”
“You two are no different from public figures now. Knowing that you will be photographed when you go out, why do you want to show your love so openly? Flora is now in the hospital, and her life and death are uncertain. Have you thought about how she will feel after seeing this video? Do you really want to force her to death?”
“Rashad, watch your words,” Cheney said coldly. “Nobody wants to force Flora to death.”
“But you did.”
I formed a clenched fist “Uncle, you have always been a cautious person, but why don’t you shy away today?” Flora is already relying on nutrient solution to maintain her life. Just because you are married, other people will no longer mean anything to you, so you don’t need to cherish the past? Anyway, Uncle Jacob watched you grow up, and he saved your life. Flora has long been a member of us in the Fischer’s mansion. You don’t know how dependent she is on you. Is it really so difficult to save her life, help Flora and help Uncle Jacob? ”
Krista was busy saying, “I took Cheney to dinner together. I didn’t expect anyone to be bored enough to take a video and post it to the Internet, and I didn’t want to demotivate Flora. Do not blame Cheney for this, it’s all my fault.”
I said to Krista, “I thought you are not femme fatale. Now I believe it, Krista. You really are the poisonous fatale. Without you, my uncle would not become so idiot in front of Flora. You ruined Flora’s future and my uncle’s feelings just so you know.”
Before the words were finished, my face hurt. I covered my cheek and looked at Cheney.
Even when… when I lost Flora, Cheney didn’t hit me. But now, he beat me… for this woman?
“Do you know what Flora just said to me? She asked me what she did wrong and why the world changed when she woke up. She can accept the cruelty of the world to her, but she doesn’t understand why even you, the only spiritual pillar that can keep her alive, have changed. She doesn’t want anything. She just wants you to change back to Cheney in the past. She said that she only has you.”
I said, and looked at Krista coldly, “But now, you have given up the opportunity to save Flora for the sake of this woman who has sound limbs and can live well even if she leaves you. No one wants you to divorce, but only wants you to save and help her temporarily and let her live. Is it so difficult? Do you know that your abandonment, for her, is a death sentence? What’s so good about this woman that it’s worth sacrificing Flora.”
Cheney said coldly, “That’s enough! Get out of here!”
“Second uncle…” I was short of breath and shouted, “Second uncle, wake up, don’t you forget how impatient you were when Flora was injured and admitted to hospital? Have you forgotten the past four years, countless days and nights, when you stood in front of Flora’s hospital bed, hoping God would give you another chance? Now that God has given you a chance to start over, why don’t you know how to cherish it? Do you have to wait until Flora is gone before you start regretting it? Save Flora, give her a chance to live, and then the three of you will sort out your feelings slowly, which is fair. ”
Cheney grabbed me by the collar and said violently, “I told you to get out of here.”
Then he threw me away, took Krista by the hand, and walked into the Jade Court.
I sat on the ground, looked behind them and shouted, “Cheney, if Flora dies, you will regret it.”
Krista’s pov
Cheney led me into the house and slammed the gate. Back to the living room, I walked to the window and looked out at the green grass.
Cheney came up and said, “Don’t pay attention to Rashad’s words. Flora won’t die and we won’t get divorced.”
I nodded. Although I didn’t say anything on my mouth, my heart… was very sad. What if Flora is really dead? Won’t Cheney regret it? To my perspective, Cheney will live in the regret of losing his love for the rest of his life… I close my eyes. I can’t imagine this.

I saw Cheney step aside, take out his cell phone and call Milo.
Soon, the phone was connected, and Cheney said, “Tell the public relations department to come forward immediately and remove the video of me eating out with Krista tonight.”
He hung up the phone, and I turned around and smiled at him. “I will go upstairs to take a bath, sorry I’m a little tired.”
He nodded “OK.”
I sat in the bathroom, and my mood was still complicated. But I always feel that Cheney’s mood at the moment should be more complicated than mine. Why didn’t he go see Flora? Is it because you are afraid to face Flora, or are you afraid that after meeting Flora, you can’t help but want to give up your responsibility and abandon your wife?
Responsibility, for a responsible man, how big is the binding force, I seem to finally understand.
That night, he hugged me to sleep from behind me, but he didn’t say a word.
I thought a lot about it.
Early in the morning, after breakfast, I drove to the construction site. Just after nine o’clock, Rashad came. He found me in the crowd, grabbed my wrist and dragged it outside the construction site.
I shouted, “Rashad, what are you doing? Let go.”\
He looked cold. “You are now happily sitting in the Fischer family. Shouldn’t you go and see how miserable the woman who should have been sitting in this seat is now?”
I clenched my fist slightly and stopped struggling. He stuffed me into his car and took me away from the construction site to Flora’s ward. Through the glass on the door, I met Flora for the first time after a few days. She looked pale and weak, like a lifeless doll, lying flat on the white bed and looking very pitiful.
Uncle Jacob on the side is also gaunt and weak.
I dropped my eyes, took a step back, and turned to look at Rashad. “Why do you want me to see this for?”
“What do you think?”
I clenched my fist. “Rashad, I know you don’t like me, but you really don’t have to let me come here to face all this. If Cheney says he wants a divorce, I won’t hinder him. It’s not me you should persuade. I can’t change anything.”
“Don’t you think Flora is really pitiful? If you can put yourself in her shoes, you will understand how helpless and innocent she is now.”
I have a touch of emotion on my face. “I understand everything you said.”
“You understand?”
“Of course, I never wanted to hurt her. I know that she is innocent, has experienced a catastrophe, and finally survived. What she has to face is the betrayal of her favorite person. I can understand her pain. If you can put yourself in my shoes, then you will understand that I can’t do anything now, sandwiched between Cheney and Flora, and no one is more difficult than me. As long as I can help her, I will try my best, Rashad. Otherwise, you can tell me. What am I going to do? What else can I do? ”
He leaned sideways, leaning against the wall and drooping his eyes. “You go, you are not needed here.”
I looked at him and turned to leave.
Go …
If I leave, will Cheney … … be free?
