Cheney’s POV
When I went back to my room, I saw Krista changed her clothes and sat by the window looking out at the scenery.
I whispered, “Why are you so down?”
She didn’t look back, just a faint response, “My period is over, and my body is comfortable, but I’m not down or anything.”
“Did you change your clothes and plan to go out?”
“Yeah.”
I volunteered, “Where do you want to go?”
“Lockie asked me out many times and was going to see him, but when I went out and saw Miss Flora, I came back immediately.”
I’m upset. “What does Lockie ask you to do every day? Does he have no friends in City A except you?”
“Maybe… there is no such kiss as me and him.”
She really dares to say it. She’s quite proud to be a close friend with a man?
Anyway, it sounds very uncomfortable to me.
I sat down. “Flora’s gone.”
“Well, I saw it.” She pointed out the window. “Uncle Jacob pushed her wheelchair away.”
“Are you still going out?”
“Not anymore.”
I frowned. This woman really asked and answered one sentence, and didn’t bother to say one more word, did she?
I really feel that she has taken me less and less seriously recently.
“Do you want me to accompany you to look out the window?”
She looked back at me. “I’m not a prisoner.”
“Well, you’re a patient, a dysmenorrhea patient.”
“Not anymore.” She said, getting up and lying back in bed.
“I’d better continue to enjoy my leisurely holiday.”
“Are you sure? There is a fireworks show at the seaside tonight. I heard that many people will go there.”
Krista said, “I’m not going. You can take Miss Flora.”
My originally comfortable face instantly caught anger. “Krista, did you mean it?”
She looked at me. “Did I say something wrong?”
“I said I would take you to the seaside to see fireworks, but you want me to take Flora? You are deliberately angry with me, aren’t you?”
“I’m telling you, I’m not very interested in that kind of thing, but Miss Flora would like it very much. Wouldn’t it be better to go to the fireworks with people who like fireworks?”
I stared at her, what logic did she have?
Does she feel a sense of accomplishment when she pushes me in front of others?
“Okay, I’ll take someone else, and you can sleep well at home.”
I got up, snorted, opened the door and went out.
Krista’s POV
Cheney didn’t lie to me. There is a fireworks show at the seaside tonight.
When eight o’clock arrives, sitting on the balcony, you can see the distant sky condensed into small fireworks blooming one by one.
My heart slightly tightened.
Why would he be angry? If he invited me nicely, I would be happy to answer, and promised to go out together.
Then I am the one standing beside him and enjoying such beautiful scenery with him.
I sat in front of the balcony window, Gently stroking my lower abdomen. Looking at the beautiful scenery far away, I said to myself softly, “Baby, in fact, you also want to go to see fireworks with your father, correct? I’m sorry, your mother’s temper is too bad, which makes you lose the opportunity to go out with your father this time. But it doesn’t matter, your father is now at the seaside over there, so you should watch it with your mother, okay?”
Unconsciously, the death anniversary of eldest brother Douglas and eldest sister-in-law Cecily arrived.
Every year, the Fischer’s mansion festivals, birthdays of family members and death days of the deceased are organized by grandma with the help of Jacob. So, in this respect, Jacob is very experienced.
With the help of Jacob, I prepared for the death anniversary in good order.
On Wednesday, a lot of people came to the Fischer’s mansion.
Cheney and I are both dressed in black and busy in the crowd. While Afra followed me, holding my hand, like a small tail, never leaving.
Flora’s POV
I don’t know what day it is, but I only know that my father is very busy these days.
I haven’t seen Cheney for three days because of the awkward thing I had with him last time.
And he didn’t come to see me voluntarily.
I’m angry, trying to see how many days Cheney won’t show up.
When eating at noon, my father didn’t come back, just asked my nurse who is accompanying me to tell me and go to bed early after eating.
I wonder what Dad is busy with?
After dinner, I asked the nurse to push me for a walk in the yard, and the nurse did.
I saw not far ahead, and there seemed to be many people.
“Is it a holiday today?” I asked the nurse around me.
The nurse shook her head and said, “No, I heard that today is the death day of Mr. Cheney’s brother and sister-in-law.”
I was in a trance, and Douglas appeared in my mind. I don’t really remember Cheney’s sister-in-law, but I grew up under Douglas’ nose.
How can Dad not tell me the day of his death?
“Sister nurse, can you push me over and have a look?”
“But… Mr. Jacob said that you should not go out today.”
“It’s okay, my dad is probably afraid that I will be emotionally fluctuated when I go to Douglas’s death day. I am not so weak now. Besides, I have already accepted the fact that he is no longer there. I just want to pay homage to him. Nurse, push me over, thank you.”
“All right.” The nurse pushed me to the Peony Hall along the way I showed.
As soon as I got off the cloister, I saw Wyatt coming from outside and swaggering towards the Peony Hall not far away.
I was nervous for a moment, so I didn’t go too far.
However, my wheelchair was too conspicuous, and Wyatt saw me at a glance. He didn’t enter the Peony Hall with a sarcastic smile on his mouth. Instead, he came to me. “Isn’t this our clever and sensible Flora? I heard that you were discharged from the hospital, and we always wanted to see you. Unfortunately, the old mistress of the Fischer family wouldn’t let you.”
I looked a little nervous and hung my head.
“Flora, you used to be polite when you saw people. Now you are dumb. I heard that you just have bad legs and have not lost any other functions.”
I stared at him. “Uncle.”
“And now you are calling me uncle.” Wyatt laughed. “You were going to marry Cheney before. Cheney called me cousin, but you called me uncle. Is this helping me to raise my seniority? Flora, you can’t help but know that the Fischer family is a place of rules.”
I nibbled my lip corner. “Cousin.”
“Oh.” He hugged his arms, sneered, bent over, and his eyes were almost flush with me in the wheelchair. “Hey, it’s a pity that such a crystal clear person has slept for four years. If you hadn’t been in a vegetative state, I’m afraid you would have married Cheney long ago.”
I didn’t say anything.
Now I only hope that this man can stay away from me, the farther the better.
He evoked his lips. “After waking up, you found that the world has changed. How do you feel?”
I frowned. “I will try my best to adapt.”
“Just trying to adapt? Don’t you want to do something?” He raised his eyebrows.
I have no idea what he is talking about.
He disdains a smile. “It seems that you are not only stupid, but also have no smart head. When Cheney is married to someone else, are you really willing? Aren’t you going to take him back?”
Hearing Wyatt’s words, my head suddenly felt like a bomb was dropped and exploded.
“What did you say… What do you mean by that? Who got married?”
Wyatt raised his eyebrows meaningfully. “Why, they didn’t tell you?”
I swallowed my saliva nervously, and suddenly I had a bad feeling.
“So you didn’t watch the news?”
I bit my lip gently. No, my father said electronic devices have a bad effect on my eyesight and brain. So he did not let me play or use them until I fully recovered.
And … My mobile phone has no signal, and I have never used Wifi.
“Tut tut, what a poor child. After four years of illness and four years of sin, your boyfriend married someone else during this period, and when you finally woke up, people all over the world deceived you together. I pity you.”
“Cheney can’t get married, and he won’t lie to me.” I plucked up the courage to stare at him.
I’m not gonna trust him.
