Seeing him, I said with displeasure, “Go out.”
“Mrs. Fischer, you are too rude and unfriendly.” He sat down not far from me without any expression.
“Are you here to celebrate? You are probably glad that your enemy is dead.”
My face sank. “What about you? Are you here to remember? Didn’t she almost become your fiancée?”
“Oh,” he smiled disdainfully. “She died. What does she have to do with me? If she wants to marry me, does she deserve it?”
“If she’s with you, I think you’re good together.” I held my arms and looked at him with a mocking face.
He gave me an oblique note, “I think I am more suitable for you.”
I calmly picked up the juice cup and drank a mouthful of juice. “In my life, there is really no shortage of people who don’t cherish their lives.”
He stared at me with his eyebrows, and I ridiculed, “You get drunk every day, and maybe you will really die on the wine table one day. Rashad, people like you are irresponsible to themselves. I know someone who can match with you. It’s your lovely wine.”
His expression was a little cold. “What do you know? Wine is a good thing, which can make people forget many things.”
I glanced at him and rolled my eyes, “How many things can you want to forget at a young age?”
He smiled at me slowly. “Guess what.”
I felt indifferent. “I am not curious, and I don’t want to guess, but… there is one person I am quite curious to ask about. Who is Flora?”
He rubbed up and looked down at me. “How do you know this name?”
I can’t help but smile. “Do you remember what you said to me this morning?”
“This morning? What I said to you this morning?”
“It seems that you have forgotten. I don’t know how many bottles of wine can make you forget, but now I understand that wine can easily make people say things they shouldn’t say.”
I’m a little wondering, why is he so excited when I mentioned this name? Didn’t I scare him with this name that he said to me this morning?
“What have I said?”
“You said that she is your uncle’s favorite person. She will wake up soon. When she wakes up, I will leave your uncle. Who is this Flora?”
He stared at me with a serious expression. “Has my uncle never told you about his past?”
I shrugged. “I told him long ago that I would not talk about the past.”
“But what if this past event becomes the present continuous going?”
He sneered, “I said that your good days are coming to an end. This is never to scare you. You’d better be prepared psychologically. Maybe it won’t be long before you leave the Fischer family. Clean your mess, and everything you have now will disappear.”
I calmly picked up the juice cup and took another sip of juice. “So what?”
He frowned. “I’m not scaring you, Krista. This is my kind reminder. You’d better make plans early because if you choose one from the other, my second uncle will never choose you. I’m done here. It is with you if you will listen or not.”
After he said those words, he stood up and left with a serious face. This is the first time I have seen such a serious Rashad since the injury. This kind of Rashad always makes me feel a little trance as if he and the Rashad I know are not the same person anymore.
A few minutes after Rashad left, Echo arrived. I talked a lot with her.
Echo drank a lot of wine. She wanted me to have a few drinks, but I didn’t. I dare not to drink for fear that after drinking too much, I will lose my manners.
When I got back to the Jade Court, it was already after eight o’clock. I didn’t take time off from Cheney today. I thought he would be angry if I came back late. But when I entered the door, I realized that Cheney had not come back yet.
When I entered the room, I took a bath and went to the study room to mark the design drawings. I focused on the drawing, and I don’t know how long after when the door was suddenly pushed open from the outside.
I looked up, and my eyes just crashed into Cheney’s dignified eyes. Without saying anything, he picked me up horizontally, went into the study room, and put me on the desk. I wanted to get up, but he didn’t give me such a chance.
Tonight, he is not gentle. This is somewhat rough sex. Until his action was over, I patted him gently on the back and asked, “Are you angry?”
Cheney’s POV
I frowned and thought of what Rashad had said when I saw him at the door.
“Uncle, I heard that Flora has been showing signs of waking up these days. Congratulations.”
Ignoring him, I walked straight in the direction of the Jade Court. But Rashad said behind my back, “If Flora really wakes up, will you still want Krista? Flora and Krista, you cannot choose both of them.”
I stretched out my hand and held her lying on the desk in my arms. I have no idea of divorce at all, not at all.
Krista frowned. “Do you… want to take a bath? It will make you uncomfortable if you sweat.”
I let go of her and put her pajamas around her. “I’ll take a shower.”
“Well, I’ll tidy up the papers you just messed up.”
“I’m sorry. Just clean it.”
I went out of the study room, went to the bathroom to take a bath, lay down in bed, and hugged her from behind.
On Wednesday morning, while I was busy in my office, I received a phone call from the hospital. Flora’s awake. This time, I came to my sense.
When I arrived at the hospital, Flora, who had woken up for more than half an hour, had fallen asleep because she was too tired.
The doctor said, “Mr. Cheney, a miracle really happened to Miss Flora. This is the first miracle I encountered during my seventeen years of working in the hospital. Mr. Cheney and Mr. Jacob, it is really gratifying. Congratulations.”
Uncle Jacob turned his head and quietly touched his tears.
I looked at Uncle Jacob and smiled at him. “Uncle Jacob, this is really something to congratulate. We should be happy.”
“Yes, Cheney. I can’t help but to cry, I’m just so happy,” Uncle Jacob breathed a sigh of relief.
He added. “When Flora called me Dad earlier, I felt… it was like going back to past when she first called me Dad when she was a child. I was really excited and didn’t know what to do.”
I raised my hand and patted him gently on the shoulder.
At four o’clock in the afternoon, Flora woke up again. Seeing me, she smiled shallowly, and her voice was very weak. “Cheney…”
She tried to raise her hand and grab mine, but she couldn’t move it. She frowned. “I have no strength to hold your hand.”
“Then I’ll do it.” I reached out and held her left hand without infusion.
She sipped her lips. “Long time no see, Cheney.”
I nodded. “Yeah, it’s really been a long time, four years, you know?”
She closed her eyes weakly. “However, I came back, after all, defeated everything and came back to you again. I am… very happy to see you again.”
