Chapter 27

I took a deep breath. I never thought I could talk with him so calmly before.
I have been with him for a long time, and my hostility to him seems to be fading. Sometimes I even hope that the Cross River Bridge has nothing to do with him and the Fischer group.

But I also understand that the greater the expectation, the greater the disappointment. If one day, I find out that he is really behind the scenes.

“Cheney.” I whispered his name.

“Hmm?”

“Have you ever done anything wrong in your life?”

He looked at me and then asked, “What about you?”

I don’t want to shake my head, but I answered him. “No, so far, not once.”

He looked at me with a bitter touch on his face. “I’ve done a lot.” He said. He leaned back. “Sitting in this position, you can only bear some things that ordinary people can’t bear. If you get more, you must pay more.”

I suddenly fell silent. I really wanted to ask him if my father was included in the things he had done against his will.

But… I didn’t ask him that. He looked sideways at the street lamp that had been lit not far away, so I couldn’t be impulsive.

“It’s getting late. Should we go back?”

He got up. “Ok, I’ll take you back.”

He pushed me away from the playground and asked, “Did you enjoy it? Do you feel good?”

I nodded. “It’s quite good. I feel gloomy in the ward. I was not sick, and I was lying out.”

“You hate it there?”

“Yeah.”

“Well, I’ll take you home.”

I was surprised and looked up at him. “Cheney, are you in a good mood?”

“Do you want to make me angry again?”

“No, no, no, I mean, I feel that you do everything to my liking today.”

He raised his eyebrows. “You are in a good mood today.”

I put my hands around my lips and shouted to the sky, “God, please, give my Cheney a good mood every day.”

He pushed the wheelchair with one hand and poked me in the head with the other. “Don’t fool me. I know what you have been doing. You think I used to be bad to you.”

I pout my lips. “Am I so obvious?”

“Very.”

I laughed. Cheney at the moment was too approachable, it is really not like him at all.

We drove back to the Fischer’s mansion, and as soon as I got out of the car, my cell phone rang.
I took it out and saw that it was Andrew. Seeing that he was the one who was on the caller ID, I didn’t answer the phone.

Cheney said nothing.

After saying hello to my grandparents, Cheney took me back to the Jade Court.

He fiddled with his mobile phone and went to take a bath. I took the opportunity to call Andrew back. “Andrew, I’m sorry, I couldn’t answer the phone just now.”

“It doesn’t matter. I guess it is the same. Is it convenient now?”

“Well, it’s very convenient, Andrew. You called at this time. What’s the matter?”

“The account you asked me to check before, I found it, and the source of the account is the Fischer family.”

My heart sank. “The Fischer family?”

“Yes, who is it? The bank refused to disclose it. They are probably afraid of offending the Fischer family. I can’t ask them to do more in this matter. I am afraid that I will startle the snake.”

My heart trembled. “I know, Andrew. Thank you for doing so much for me. It’s fine here. Can you… can you tell me that account number?”

Andrew paused for a moment. “You want to investigate it yourself?”

“Yes.”

“Ok, I’ll send it to you. If there is anything else I can help with, you can keep looking for me. I will try my best.”

“Thank you.” I answered softly. Andrew has helped me enough. I can’t drag him into the water more.

“Actually, I always wanted to ask you, did you marry Cheney for this?”

After a moment’s silence, I replied, “Hmm.”

“Krista, I can understand your mood, but I think you have paid too much for this matter. Marriage is not a child’s play. Some things can’t be undone once you choose.”
“Andrew, I understand your kindness, but I have made such a choice, and I will not regret it or back down. This matter cannot be changed.”

“Then I can only bless you silently and hope that you will find the truth as soon as possible?”

I tried to pull out a smile. “Thank you, really, Andrew.”

“Don’t see me again.”

I hang up the phone, and I got a message from Andrew.

After reading that string of accounts, I silently put down my mobile phone and closed my eyes.
The Fischer family, really the Fischer family.

My heart hurts when I think of Cheney. My good expectations were dashed.

Cheney’s POV
When I came out of the shower, I saw her lying down, so I went around her. She was closing her eyes. I whispered, “Sleep?”

She didn’t answer.

Looking at her back, I took my mobile phone and got up and left the room.

When I came to the study, I opened my mobile phone, ended the recording, and opened its content. I listened to the recording.

When I heard the conversation between her and Andrew, I knew that Andrew had found the bank account number.

I dialed Milo’s number. “Go and let me know if Krista checks the bank account in my wife’s name. Give her permission to check it.”

“All right, Mr. Cheney.”

Hanging up the phone, I held my arms, and I had already seen the account information when Milo first investigated the account.

It’s just, all this time, I’ve been waiting for Krista to take the initiative to mention it to me.
I wonder when Krista will let go of me. But now it seems that it should be even harder.

I went back to the bedroom, and Krista remained in her original position. I leaned behind her and embraced her.
As soon as I fell asleep, I suddenly felt a dull pain in my stomach. I got up and went to the bathroom.
Just after I came back and lay down for a few minutes, it began to ache again. I went back and forth in the bathroom several times and woke Krista. She picked up her cell phone and dialed 120 directly.

When we came to the hospital, I had an examination, and it was acute enteritis. The doctor said that it was caused by eating unclean things.

I thought directly of the bowl of Mala Tang. I looked at Krista and said, “It must be Mala Tang. Are you alright?”

“How is it possible? I have eaten Mala Tang, and I am still fine.”

The doctor on the side said, “Madam, some foods depend on the personal physique, but Mala Tang is not very hygienic and may cause enteritis.”

After they infused the fluid, the medical staff left. Krista was pushed to the bedside by the aunt. After she went to bed, the aunt went out first.
