He woke up with a jolt from his sleep and sat on the bed then looked around to see that it was just a dream and what was around him is his reality.
It was still a bit dark so he turned to his bedside table to switch on the lamp and it lit some part of the room and his side of the bed then checked the digital clock Aiden got him the other day to see the time.
“6:15 am” he muttered huskily and rested back on the bed and let out a tired sigh.
His torso was a bit damped from the sweat that had gathered since the time he slept. He put his face in his palm and let out a sigh whilst breathing heavily.
Then he turned to look at his left side to see Audriana facing her side of the bed with the comforter covering her from shoulder down.
He sat up and rested his back on the headboard and closed his eyes allowing himself to calm down fully.
It was just a dream. Nothing else. He told himself but he suddenly felt down and couldn’t decipher why he was.
Staying at home was on his mind and he made a mental note to call his assistant to send him all the work for today so he can work from home and all meetings should be scheduled for another day, maybe the next week.
He opened his eyes and turned to his side to grab his phone from the bedside table when it hit him and he groaned.
The meeting that he could manage to set up with Mr. Vimir the Russian investor he had been pursuing a business contract with for a while now.
“Why did it have to be today?” he asked himself then remembered how his assistant tried to schedule it for next week but he was adamant about making it today and now he is regretting his decisions.
“Oh GOD” he heard a soft sound of discomfort and knew that wasn’t him so he turned to look at Audriana side to see that she was facing the ceiling with her eyes closed and a frown on her face.
She looked like she was in pain with the way her lips were twisted. He wondered if she hit her hand somewhere on the bed that must had caused the look of pain on her face.
Then she turned to his side and opened her eyes but her gaze was that of a glare as she scrunched her face the more like the pain was intensifying.
She gritted her teeth and tried not to let the pain overtake her senses. These were one of the times she hate periods.
Cramps, cramps, cramps.
She rarely ever have bad cramps but the month she gets that, is usually the worse and she can’t do anything aside laying down in weird positions on any surface that brings her comfort, eat, and accommodate the pain that will follow.
There were times she would cry so hard she thought the pain would end her life. She hates those times because sometimes when the pain comes, the period will be when she had important things to do, so the presence of the pain would prevent her from doing so.
Then she would have no choice than to call in sick and her bestie, Aiden or Caleb would come keep her company.
Now isn’t the case, she was married, doesn’t want to call Sofia because she wants her to focus on herself, her baby and upcoming marriage.
Caleb had Emily to take care of and their wedding too and Aiden has been doing a lot of travelling these days and she suspect he is seeing someone but he wouldn’t deny nor accept when they asked him.
She can’t just bother her parents because of some stupid crampy pain. She was married and they would expect her husband to take care of her during those times. That is if he can.
She looked at him with a deep frown and suddenly felt the urge to squeeze something hard due to how it was getting to her.
“Oh” she whimpered and pushed the comforter from covering her body so it was covering just her waist down.
She turned again so she was facing the ceiling and placed her hands on her lower abdomen then pressed so that it could oppress the pain.
“What in the world is this” she muttered and he could hear her voice shake when she said that.
He frowned a bit as he looked at her biting her lip and closing her to keep the pain put.
What could be the reason she was like this? It possibly couldn’t be that she hit her hand somewhere. She was holding her abdomen and it could mean just one thing.
“Are you okay?” he asked after a while of looking at her.
“Do I look like I am fine?” she asked breathlessly still closing her eyes.
He sighed then stood up from the bed and checked the time again since the sun was already rising.
It was already some minutes after seven and he yawned then walked out of the room to the kitchen to grab some pain reliever and a cup of juice.
He grabbed his phone on his way then dialed a number and waited for the receiver to pick up.
“Good morning boss” the masculine morning voice of his assistant said on the phone.
He paused from pouring the juice in the cup and placed the carton on the counter.
“So you do wake up late?”
“Sir?” he heard shuffling in the background and a thud then more shuffling.
“Sir? No, I was already getting prepared to leave my place to work” he answered a bit frightened.
“At seven? Its quite early man, relax and stop shaking like you were dumped in Atlantic ocean and listen to me. I will not come to the office today and you can use that as your day off.” he said.
“But you have a meeting with Mr. Vimir today and it was quite hard to get this appointment with him” Jim his assistant said.
“I know. Now, I want you to bring me some of the files that I will be using for the meeting and schedule the others for next week then send me some of the work to my mail and I will work on the ones I couldn’t finish up tomorrow” he instructed.
“Okay, sir. Thank you, sir”
“Yeah, you are welcome and…” he said.
“Yes?”
“Thank you” he said after a while.
Three seconds of silence.
“O– okay sir. You are welcome sir” he replied and immediately cut the call.
He put his phone in his pocket and continued with pouring the juice then put them on a try and made his way up the stairs to Audriana.
