“So,” he began and she turned to look at Dimitri who was sitting really close to her with a rose strand in his hand.
“First, this is for you” he handed her the rose and put the strand of hair falling on her face behind her ear.
She blushed and looked down then smelled the rich goodness of the flower he gave her.
“They smell nice,” she said lightly looking shyly into his hazel gaze and he smiled brightly at her then shifted closer to her and put his hand behind her.
“Well you smell better” she widened her eyes and looked away from his gaze with the blush deepening on her cheeks down to her neck.
What was he doing to her? She felt warmness all over her face and neck when he looks at her, smiles at her, touch her, say nice things to her and kiss her.
He was really a charming man and can get any girl swooned by his charms.
“Why are you blushing?” he asked putting his hands under her chin and tipping her head up so she was looking directly at him.
He noticed the small tinted blush on her cheeks that will turn into a darker shade when she looks at his eyes and would bite her lips to prevent herself from smiling.
She was so happy with how things were and wanted it to stay this way. He was sweet, gentle, patient, kind, loving, would compliment her, and would separate time out for her.
There were times she thought it was all just a dream and if it was she wants it to remain that way so she can enjoy this kind, patient side of him.
“Tell me, why are you blushing?” he asked again.
“You…” she cleared her throat and looked into his eyes determined not to take her eyes off.
“You just know the right thing to say to a woman to make her feel great” she responded and he laughed.
This was so surreal. Him, laughing and all was a whole new thing, he barely ever smiles at her and he is laughing so carefree in front of her and it was beautiful. A scene she would watch over and over again.
“I am correct every time, you do smell nice and look so beautiful every single time that is why I love your hair down,” he said patting her head.
She looked away from him and buried her face in her palms. Trying to keep it all in, it was too much for her and she wanted this to be real.
She didn’t want it to be some kind of dream she would wake up from and be met with the very same grumpy Dimitri Lorenzo.
“Babe, are you okay?” he placed his hand on her wrist and slowly removed them from covering her face. “What is going on? Are you fine?” he asked.
She could see the worry look on his face but it looked like he was frowning more than looking worried.
She didn’t answer and just kept looking into his eyes trying to phantom their situation and what brought them together.
When they first met it was like she met an angel in the form of a man.
Hazel eyes, a well-sculptured jawline, finely pointed nose, full pink well-curved lips surrounded by nicely shaved stubble, a nice clear skin, dark ruffled hair.
The body of a hardened wall, a firm grip with that fine large palms of his, tall, lean, emitting graciousness and power.
Little did she know that what would come out of his mouth would erase how greatly she described him from her head. Then she started seeing a child in the body of a man who needed to express himself but by being mean and rude.
She would have opted out of the wedding plans but aside from the thought of her company’s employees being relieved of their work, there was something different she saw in him.
At first, she was irritated by him then after spending some weird regrettable time with him, she realized there was more to his behavior than what he lets his family, friends, and media see.
Then she became curious, curious to know what was that. What was that thing about him, to understand him, if it was possible and to keep a friendship if also possible.
With time she started having a crush on him which later turned to her liking him, although she takes no nonsense from him she always looks forward to seeing him, talking to him, and spending some time with him even though he sees it and her disturbing his peace.
“What? What are you thinking?” he asked her nodding at her and taking a bite of his chocolate
She shook her head and blinked many times then she realized the haze she and him were in was just a figment of her imagination. None of it was real, just some imagination.
No smiling or laughing instead it was his usual grumpy look, no roses but a bar of chocolate on her hand, no calling of sweet endearment, just the plain, regular man she has grown to like over the past months.
They were in a park in a secluded area sitting on a blue-colored blanket and had a white polythene bag close to them.
She still kept looking at him then didn’t know why but she just leaned in towards him and closed her eyes.
Hoping to have her lips meet with his warm ones instead it was a different kind of skin so she opened her eyes to see that she kissed his cheek.
“What are you doing? don’t let this go farther than it is going, you will fall and wouldn’t be able to stand again, so for your safety just don’t try” he whispered to her.
Feeling dejected she leaned back and looked away from him then let out a sigh before standing up and started walking away.
He stood too and grabbed the blanket and polythene bag then ran after her. It wasn’t much of a haze because he was taller with longer legs than her.
“Hey, wait up,” he said grabbing her arm so she could be facing him.
He noticed the deep frown on her face and her arms were folded but she wasn’t looking at him.
“What is going on Audriana? I thought you were having fun? Why change all of a sudden?” he asked a bit confused and not understanding her change of mood.
“I was but you just had to ruin it” she hit his arm and he raised his hand but couldn’t protect his arm from her assault as her pal landed there leaving a small stinging pain.
“Oww… what was that for? What did I ruin?” he asked looking confused.
He had experience with the female gender and know a few of their body languages and all. But he wants to understand her and what message she is trying to pass by acting in certain manners.
“Aarrgh! Just forget it, I want to go home” she said and his confused look just deepened.
What was her problem? He understands the fact that he could be a total jerk to her sometimes but couldn’t remember doing anything upsetting for the past hours they have been exploring.
He was enjoying himself and relieving the stress of the past week and also enjoying the sight of her and now she wants to go home. At this time. It wasn’t even night yet and she was already asking to be taken home.
“Why? At least tell me what I did to have spiked you up and made you want to go home on time. Come on it isn’t even nighttime yet” he said.
She hit his arm again but not as hard as the first time.
“You” she pointed at his chest then looked up at him. “Dimitri Miguel Lorenzo, are a big jerk,” she said, and with every word she spoke, she kept poking his chest.
“A very big one at that” she continued.
“What did I do?” he asked folding his arms and looking around to see some people had stopped to watch them while the rest didn’t care and went on with where they were going to.
“Let’s not cause a scene, come let’s go somewhere” he held her placed his hand on her back, and moved her to a part in the park where people weren’t that much.
“Now tell me, what is wrong?” he said more calmly this time.
She looked into his eyes but couldn’t be angry again. It was like his gaze melted any kind of anger or resentment she felt for him moments ago and now she can’t remember why she was angry at him and why she acted the way she did.
It will then look like she was being childish and ungrateful for taking time out for her so she could relax along with him.
Felling a bit embarrassed she looked down at her sneakers and shifted on one foot to the other at intervals. Then she heard him sigh and looked up to see he had his face in his palm like he was trying to keep it cool.
“Are you still mad?” he asked not taking his hand off his face.
She shook her head no and knowing he wouldn’t see her she answered ‘Yes’.
“Okay, can we go ahead and see more places? The day isn’t over yet and we still have more places to go to” he said and she nodded her head.
He took her hands in his and began walking away from the park and she didn’t resist and followed him.
He was being nice today so she will have to enjoy it while it lasts.
