“Caleb is with Emily, she is still having some complications so he has to stay with her” Aiden said getting off the phone and putting it in his trouser pocket.
“It’s fine, his fiancee and wife are important, hope you sent our greetings?” Patricia said.
“Yes, I did but he said he would come here tomorrow or the day after.”
“Okay,” she nods and put her head on Moana’s shoulder while Audriana’s head was resting on Sofia’s shoulder.
“Aunty, Loveth, don’t think too much about this. Miguel is a fighter, a better one at that, a bullet cant take him down” he said going to seat in between the four women.
Kingsley and Donald were still trying to sort out the incident without adding more stress to their already distressed family. The press really wanted to know what happened with this young billionaire and if he was doing well.
They didn’t want anyone in yet till they are sure he is doing perfectly okay.
“Ladies, don’t worry too much, he will come out alive,” he said and they both at the same time laid their heads on his shoulder and he put his arms around them, comforting them.
“I know for a fact that I am a ladies’ man, no matter the situation” he commented and earned chuckles from Audriana and Patricia which he was expecting, and two taps at the back of his head from Moana and Sofia which he wasn’t expecting.
“Ow,” he pouted for Moana and glared at Sofia who stuck her tongue out at him in return.
“Mrs. Lorenzo” a voice called out.
They all turned their heads in the direction of the voice and saw that it was an elderly-looking man wearing blue surgical scrubs who collected the clipboard and pen provided to him by the nurse following him.
They all stood and went towards him waiting for him to talk as he looked at the clipboard and back to them.
“I am his wife, Audriana, please tell us how he is,” she said and he looked at her then sighed then told the nurse something before she left in the other direction.
“How is he doctor?” Patricia asked and he nods his head then smiled a bit.
“Wow, he is a fighter, everything is under control. The bullet missed his heart by a bit but we were able to remove the bullet and keep him stable and although he lost a lot of blood but thank GOD for the last pint of blood that matched his blood was available so he is okay and will be up in a few hours” he told them.
“Thank GOD,” Audriana said and looked at her friend who mouthed ‘I told you’ as tears fell down her cheeks ingratitude of the news.
“He has a little cut at the back of his head and suffered a mild concussion to his head due to how hard he hit his head so you have to be gentle when talking to him.” he looked at them before continuing
“He is in the ICU at the moment and let’s just thank GOD the bullet didn’t go further than it went and help was called on time, if not it would have gone bad”
“But my son will be fine?” Patricia asked and he nods.
“Ca- can I see him now?” Audriana asked.
“Yes, you can but don’t stress him much and be gentle with him as I have said, have a nice evening”
“So doctor, ” Aiden said then went with the doctor to his office to discuss some other things.
“Patricia, you go see him first so you have peace in your heart,” Moana said and they agreed.
“Okay,” she went with her husband and they stay there for almost thirty minutes.
“You need to stop blaming yourself for what happened, you weren’t the one who shot him and it could be from maybe business rivals so don’t put this on yourself, and you heard the doctor, he will be fine and will wake up soon”
Sofia kept talking to her so she can stop telling herself she is at fault for his present situation.
“No one can predict what could happen anytime soon, even he wouldn’t blame you for anything, stop feeling guilty”
“I would have just stayed home”
“What if he wasn’t actually coming for you? He might probably have some kind of meeting these CEOs have or something. I don’t want you feeling bad or guilty when Aunt and Uncle come out of that place, you need to stop feeling this way and thank GOD he isn’t in a worse situation”
“Yeah, you are right. I just hope he wakes up on time” she said and buried her face in her palm.
“You can go see him, dear, he looks fine,” Patricia said and she looked up to her and nod then looked at her mum and dad then at her friend before going into the room and closing the door behind her.
When she entered, she stood at the door side looking at him from afar then felt the sad feeling wash through her entire body. With a sigh, she made her way closer to him to get a clearer view of his unconscious body.
He had the oxygen mask covering his nose and mouth and his eyes were closed, the IV stand was beside the bed, and traced the line to the back of his right hand where it was stuck on his skin and some other things she guessed to be bandages or a band-aid.
She didn’t miss the white bandage wrapped around his head. ‘Mild concussion’. It ran through her mind.
There was also the machine thing she sees in movies that monitor the patient’s heartbeat monitor. She saw the waves as they kept moving and bit her lips before taking them back to Dimitri’s unconscious state.
The patient cloth he had on was a light blue with little dots in a darker shade, the bedspread reach up to his chest. She watched the rise and fall of his chest and sighed then her gaze went back to his face and she moved closer till she was by his bed then reached out her hand to touch his face.
Sighing again she brought the chair that was some steps away from the bed closer then sat on it.
“I am so sorry Dimitri” she began and entwined her fingers together. “I would have just listened to you and stayed at home, this wouldn’t have happened in anyways.” she sighed and cleaned her face.
“I was so angry at you for…” she took her eyes away from him and swallowed then sniffed. “…for trying to make me feel special when you said you cared about me, and when for real you have told me countless times, all that affection from you was just for show”
She looked up at the ceiling then back to him.
“Do you really care? I know you will not be able to hear what I am saying so I better just ask” she held his hand that had the IV lines attached to it and brought it to her lips for a kiss.
“Were you just saying them so I could stay or did you actually care for me? Why do you sometimes put me in compromising situations when you know how physically attracted I am to you, even though I haven’t said it to your face, why though?”
“You know there are sometimes I really wished I could slap you every single day because you deserve one and you know it. You sometimes insult me and expect me not to give it back to you but… what the hell am I saying?”
She cleaned her cheeks and chuckled.
“I should not ask the rest now, maybe when you are fully awake and you aren’t experiencing any pain or whatsoever then I can scream as loud as I can at you and tell you your least favorite nickname from me”
“I am sorry I put you in such a state and hope that you wake up on time, wake up so I can see that annoying cute hazel gaze of yours” she stood up then sat on the small space beside him and leaned in to place a kiss on his cheeks, his head and on the mask.
“Good night,” she said and rested on his good chest then closed her eyes to sleep.

“Do you want to see him?” Aiden asked Sofia and she nods.
“I want to be sure he is going to be fine, but Audriana is still in there. Let’s wait for a little more before going in. She looked like she had a lot to say to him”
“Yeah, you are right. If I was his wife, I will definitely have something to say to him, unconscious or not”
She raised an eyebrow at him and he rolled his eyes before going to sit beside his friend’s parents.
“Aunt, Uncle, why don’t you both leave, we will take it from here and you can come back tomorrow”
“But-”
“You are already assured Dimitri will be okay, why don’t you take care of yourselves so you will be more refreshed when he wakes up” he cuts in and she looked at her husband who nodded then stood up with him.
“Thank you Aiden,” she hugged him before following her husband and stopped to hug Moana and Kingsley.
“Even, you both need to sleep,” he said to Audriana’s parents.
“Okay, but let me take a glance at him,” Moana said walking towards the door of Dimitri’s room.
She opened it closely and cooed quietly then gestured for them to come to see what she just saw.
Her daughter was laying on her husband’s chest and he had his arms around her.
“They look so peaceful together, let’s not disturb them,” Moana said with a smile on her face.
“Good night, Aunt, good night uncle” he hugged and Sofia hugged them both before they went down the hallway to leave the hospital.
“I will stay here, you can go home” he turned to her and she shook her head.
“No, it’s fine I will stay here with you”
“Oh baby, I am flattered but I saw your phone going off with that prince charming’s name on the screen, just go. I will update you all if anything, okay”
“Okay thanks, noisy man” she stuck her tongue at him then hugged him and left the hospital too.
With a sigh, he sat on the bench outside and brought out his phone to make a call
“Hello,” the feminine voice at the other end said.
