“Is all fine, my Lady?” Sir Guillaume whispered.
Amelia took a deep breath and nodded her head. She had never noticed how beautiful his eyes were. Suddenly a voice came from behind them.
“Is it legal to put your hands on your Queen in that manner? Thomas questioned.
It was all he could say after seeing Amelia. It startled him and the sight of Amelia in another’s arms was bothersome.
“Thomas?” Amelia said in a frightful tone.
Sir Guillaume automatically drew his sword and said “My grace I suggest you depart, you are trespassing.”
“And what are you going to do, Sir?” Thomas asked.
“Thomas, please you are not allowed here, do not cause disorder.” Amelia stated.
Sir Guillaume pointed his sword at him.
“Your Knight’s sword has invited me to spar, my dear Amelia and you know I never let a good spar pass me by,” Thomas said.
Thomas jumped off his horse and pointed his sword to Sir Guillaume as to accept the challenge. Amelia stepped in between them.
“Sir Guillaume, there is no need. Thomas, please be on your way!” Amelia ordered.
“Does your King know this man is his rival?” Thomas said.
“I am her personal guard, my grace, never King Erich’s rival.” Sir Guillaume said.
Thomas leaped forward and said “Prepare to protect your Queen.”
“There is no need for this Thomas.” Amelia said as she moved closer to Thomas.
“Come with me now Amelia or your Knight will feel the consequences.” Thomas shouted.
“I am not willing to give up my Queen without a fight.” Sir Guillaume responded.
Thomas laughed.
“As you wish Sir, then I will just have to take her.” Thomas replied.
Sir Guillaume looked back at Amelia and said “My Queen, my duty is to protect and so I will.”
Amelia grabbed Thomas’ arm.
“Please I beg you, just be on your way Thomas.” Amelia begged.
“No, Not without you, Amelia” He said.
The terror on her face was vivid.
Thomas could tell she did not want him there, she was afraid.
Thomas looked over to Sir Guillaume and whispered “Prepare to die for your Queen.”
In a split second, Sir Guillaume and Thomas were engaged in conflict. Sir Guillaume was a great competitor, not what Thomas expected from a Knight.
In between, Sir Guillaume yells at Amelia, “My Lady, GO! Return to the castle”
Amelia ran towards her horse and took off. As she rode she could still hear the sound of the steel clanging. Thomas became irate when Amelia ran away.
He was certain she would return to Landford with him and spare her guard’s life. Thomas looked over at Sir Guillaume, at a moment when he was preoccupied with Amelia’s whereabouts, he took a chance and plunged forward with his sword. Sir Guillaume nicked Thomas’s face but Thomas had pierced Sir Guillaume’s flesh. Sir Guillaume slowly fell to the floor as blood gushed from his midsection.
Thomas walked over and wiped the blood off of his sword with Sir Guillaume’s coat of arms and said “I will not kill you this time but be assured our next encounter will be your last.”Thomas could see Amelia in the distance but she had reached Schillingburg Soldiers and was returning back with them. Thomas got on his horse and tried to take off.
Toby was not moving, he was Amelia’s horse and upon being in her presence, he didn’t want to leave. Thomas quickly jumped on Sir Guillaume’s horse and force him to lead him out. He would have never thought she would choose Schillingburg over him. Amelia rode back immediately with soldiers to find Sir Guillaume badly injured.
She jumped off her horse and said in a panic voice, “Oh my sweet Sir Guillaume, this is all my fault. Please do not die. Hurry! Return him to the castle for treatment.”
She slowly walked over to her beloved horse, she recognized him by his colors, she whispered “Sweet Toby, is this you?”
Toby shook his head as if understood her. She grabbed his lead and attached it to the other horse and led him towards the castle.
As they arrived at the castle, so did King Erich. There was such a commotion that no one really know what was going on.
“What is happening?” King Erich shouted.
“Sir Guillaume was attacked by the creek, he is critical” The first Officer answered.
“And Amelia, where is Amelia?” King Erich added.
“She is in the parlor, very shaken.” The first officer replied.
King Erich rushed to the parlor.
As he entered Amelia ran towards him.
“Are you well, Amelia?” King Erich asked.
Amelia nodded.
“Who has done this?” King Erich asked.
“It was Thomas, my Lord, he came for me.” Amelia answered.
“You stay here, I will get to the bottom of this.” King Erich commanded.
As he walked away he shouted “CHARLES, CHARLES, where are you?”
Charles was just returning from his travels.
“I am here, my Liege, what has happened?” Charles asked.
“Where were you!” King Erich asked.
“I was in Landford, casting doubt as I told you I would,” Charles answered.
“Well, whatever you said made Thomas come looking for Amelia, and guess what Charles?” King Erich said.
Charles just looked at the King with no answer.
“HE FOUND HER!” King Erich yelled.
Charles covered his mouth and said “Is she harmed?
“No, she is safe. Thanks to Sir Guillaume but he is injured gravely.” King Erich stated.
The King began to walk away then turned and said “Whatever you said to them in Landford has made Schillingburg a target. Now that Thomas has seen Amelia, he will not rest until he has her back.”
“Pardon me my King, my mistake will be corrected immediately,” Charles replied.
“I am sure it will be but Charles, but before you do anything confer with me.” King Erich said as he walked back to the parlor.
Amelia had gone into the infirmary to check on Sir Guillaume. As she walked over she noticed he was up and speaking. She quickly ran in, hugged, and kissed him.
“Oh Sir Guillaume, I am so happy you are up,” Amelia said excitedly.
She really did not notice she had just kiss him on the lips. The Doctor remained quiet and lower his head.
Sir Guillaume in shock smiled and replied “It was just a scratch, my Lady, all in a day’s work.”
“Your injury is grave Sir Guillaume, you must not take it so lightly.” The Doctor said.
Sir Guillaume bowed his head and smiled at Amelia.
“I will let you rest but I will return before night to check on you.” Amelia said.
Sir Guillaume bowed his head.
As she left the room, Sir Guillaume took a deep breath.
“The pain is excruciating Doctor” Sir Guillaume moaned.
The doctor laughed “Sir Guillaume, she knows you are hurt, no need to show your bravery.”
Thomas rode into Landford castle hastily.
“She is in Schillingburg. She is in Schillingburg!” He yelled as he entered the castle.
David came out of the first room.
“Who is where? And why are you covered in blood?” David asked.
Thomas was excited to share the news.
“As I rode near our adjoining creek, I bumped into Amelia.” Thomas explained.
“And I had to fight her guard” He whispered.
“Are you mad, Thomas? Did you kill him? Was King Erich there?” David asked as he paced.
“I do not think I killed him, he was looking at me as I rode away. His fault anyway he would not let Amelia go.” Thomas responded.
David was enraged with this event.
“You are such a fool Thomas! After your glorious fought, did Amelia return with you? No!” David asked.
“No, she escaped, she fled into Schillingburg.” Thomas replied.
“She is terrified of you, my Lord.” Shyanne affirmed.
“She will not be returning to Landford my grace, not without a fight. She has been made to believe you want her dead.” Shyanne added.
“Wonderful Thomas! If you killed her guard, it will confirm to her you wanted to kill her. Why would you make such a stupid decision like that, Thomas?” David stated.
“I did not expect to see her there, it was a spur of the moment thing. I was just out riding.” Thomas replied.
“Well your spur of the moment thing might have just cost you Amelia. You Idiot!” David enforced.
Once again Thomas had made a mess out of everything.
