CHAPTER 16

“I think we’ll finish this work within half an hour” Zane said.
“Yeah just have to prepare notes”
“We have to learn it too for presentation”
“I know, I know. Notes can be prepared within half an hour, then we’ll get enough time to mug it up and then we’ll be ready for tomorrow”
“Yeah” he replied.
Notes were prepared in less than half an hour and we were almost ready for tomorrow’s assignment submission. Research and management isn’t my subject but I’m a master at mugging things up.
I returned home to a locked door which means no one’s at home. I lifted the aloe vera plant pot placed next to the door and picked up the duplicate keys. I was so hungry that I directly went into the kitchen in search of food. I opened the fridge and checked what was there in store, but there was nothing except for a jar of milk. I took the jar out and poured some milk in my glass. I was still peckish in spite of drinking one full glass of milk. I ran my gaze all over the kitchen in search of some food or even a fruit but found only a piece of paper placed on the table. I was a letter for me –
‘We are going out of town for four days. Take good care of the house!’
GREAT! Now I’m home alone for four days and I don’t know how to cook and even if I try there’s nothing in the fridge for me to cook, they didn’t even leave me any money to buy things. They left me here alone without even thinking how will I pass these four days without food? They really don’t care. They won’t care even if I die! Irritated I walked towards my room.
SSMMAASSHH!!
I trembled hearing that aggressive loud noise of breaking of a glass which I assume came from my room. What was that? I cried hearing the same noise again from the same direction. I don’t understand what’s happening. I ran towards my room and saw that the glasses of my windows were broken. Heck! What happened here!? Who did this? I peeped out of the window to see who the culprit was but only got hitten on my head by the big stone. I couldn’t see who threw that but it caused great pain. I was gnawed at the moment. I don’t understand what’s going on here. By the time I took my hands off my head and looked in the direction from where the stone was being thrown, the person was gone and there was no one to be seen.
“Oouucchh” I cried as someone had hit my head with something heavy. I turned to see who it was but my vision was getting blur and I was finding it difficult to keep my eyes open.
“Wake up honey” someone said in a heavy voice when I opened my eyes. My vision was still a little blur.
“Recognize me? We’re meeting for the second time and oh, so sorry for the damage of your windows” the guy said chuckling. When I got my vision back and could clearly see everything, I realized that it was the same guy who was torturing Zane that day near the forest. The same guy whom I had hitten with a plank. Zane’s rival.
“You… Why have you kidnapped me? What do you want?” I asked, struggling to release my hands which were tied by a rope against the tree. He had brought me in a forest.
“No. No. Don’t fight to get rid of that rope. It will only hurt you” he said, chuckling again.
“What do you want?” I yelled this time.
“Simple answer to your simple question – YOUR DEATH!” he said “Remember you committing a mistake few days ago by hitting me and me promising you that I’ll make you regret? Well I’m just keeping my promise” his eyes turned red as he said that. One thing was clear that he’s not a normal human. What is he? Is he too a vampire? The thought itself was enough to scare me to bits.
A loud thud was heard and then the guy was on the ground.
“Zane” I wanted to run towards him but he too was a vampire. How could I trust him?
“And how can I forget that you are Zane’s love. My dear, you are bound to die and now that Zane’s here, I’m going to kill you right in front of his eyes. It’s going to be so much fun” he said still lying on the ground, struggling to get up. Zane kicked him hard in the stomach just when he was on his knees, making him fall again.
“You’re too naïve to think that I’ll let you even touch her, let alone killing her” said Zane. His eyes turned red and face looked scary with those fangs. He was in his vampire form and all I wanted to do was run away from the sight.
“I know your weakness Zane” said the guy with a smirk.
“I can kill you within seconds before you could even use that on me Gravier” said Zane grabbing him by his neck.
“You’ve killed everyone who was dear to me but not anymore. I’ll kill you before you could even touch my love and you can count it as my revenge” he said. His words sent chills to my body. Is he really going to kill him? The guy named Gravier laughed.
“I’ve killed everyone who were dear to you. Add one more to the list” he said as he walked towards me.
“Good Bye Gravier. You lycans have done enough damage. Now Rest in Peace” he said as he severed the spine from his body. Gravier layed lifeless on the ground. I was petrified. Why did he have to do this in front of me? I was freezed. The monster side of Zane was right in front of my eyes and nothing can measure the amount of fear I was in. Within a blink of an eye Zane was near me, freeing me from ropes that tied me against the tree.
“Don’t be scared Blaire” Zane said. But how am I not supposed to be scared after witnessing this sight?
“I promised you that I won’t let anyone harm you” Gravier called me Zane’s love. Does he really love me? Or am I just a food supplier to him?
“Have I ever fed on you Blaire? Have I even tried to do that? Then how could you even think of that?” he said reading my mind. I remained silent and tried not to think anything else.
“I can’t prove my love to you but trust me, I really do. I really love you.” his words seemed unfeigned. Don’t know why but his words gave tears to my eyes. He looked so innocent at first but he’s a monster. Now he says that he loves me, how am I supposed to believe that? How can a monster be in love? I don’t know what’s real – his love or the monster that he is. I too loved him but I can’t be with a monster like him. I wish he wasn’t a vampire. I wish he was a human like me, then things would have been different. I let my tears flow.
