So the two of us had tea together, the most amazing jasmine tea I had ever tasted. Not talking much, enjoying the scenery and the peaceful moment. When you were with the right people silence didn’t matter, sometimes it said even more. After tea time I said goodbye to Chris and went back to my hotel room to continue with my school work.
Laying on my stomach, I re-read my report on my laptop when Nick finally entered the room. Glancing up at my screen I noticed how tired he was. He immediately took his tie off and approached me, sitting down and giving me a kiss on my head.
“I missed you.”
Smirking I swayed my feet up in the air, “You were gone for ten hours… I’d say that’s long enough to miss me.”
Chuckling he fell back on the bed and stared at the ceiling. I closed my laptop and laid beside him, resting my head against his shoulder. His warmth felt good, comforting, I hoped it was the same for him. That I could give him good and be comforting with just being beside him. He deserved that.
“Thank you for asking me to come with you to Tokyo.”
My words surprised him. I could feel his body tense up, “Oh? Why the sudden change of heart?”
I looked up at his face, knowing that what I was about to tell him would probably piss him off. Yet I wouldn’t want any secrets between us. That would lead to the stalking and obsessive behavior and I didn’t want that. So far honesty was what made our relationship solid so I wasn’t going to stop being honest with him anytime soon. I rather have our relationship be the way it is forever.
“I had a conversation with Chris Jones.” His gaze darkened, “He made me appreciate what we have.”
Nick was definitely curious about this conversation I had, but he didn’t want to show it. I could tell he was forcing himself to stay as calm as possible.
“What was the conversation about?”
I snuggled more into my boyfriend, “He misses Anna. He is really heartbroken.” I closed my eyes as I remembered how sad he looked while he mentioned his wife, “Why is she going after you when she has such a great man at home?”
Nick chuckled, placing a palm over his heart, “Ouch, Em.”
I rolled my eyes at him, “You know what I mean. I would break things off with you if I wanted another man. I wouldn’t lead you on!” I sat up, getting more and more pissed with every second I thought about her disgusting behavior, “She is fucking married. What she is doing right now isn’t right.” I narrowed my eyes at Nick who sat up as well and told me to calm down, “You need to tell her that. You need to tell her that what she is doing is not right.”
“Some people are just like that, Em.” He tucked my hair behind my ear, “Some people don’t give a fuck about feelings of others. They only go after what they want, what they desire. Anna always has been like that. Chris is a fool for thinking he could change her. People don’t change that easily.”
I knew Nick was right, but I couldn’t accept it. I couldn’t accept the fact that you couldn’t hope for the person you love to change for you. To love you back and want the same things as you. If that was the case Nick and I was doomed to fail. So I couldn’t accept this.
“Is he a fool for wanting his wife to commit to their marriage?”
“He is a fool for putting a ring on someone’s finger who will never be committed to anyone but herself.”
I exhaled and dropped back down on the back, “Fucking Anna needs to stay away from my boyfriend and be with her husband. Yet I can’t make that clear because then it will go viral which will be bad for your business. I hate this!”
Nick hovered over me, his eyes sparkling with amusement, “It’s adorable how jealous you are.”
I grabbed his hair and pulled his head down, my lips lightly brushing against his, “Damn right I’m jealous, Nick.” I pressed my lips firmly against his, making sure to kiss him with everything I got, “You’re in a serious relationship and that woman has no right to fight for you when she cannot even promise you a future, a real one.”
“I love you.”
He captured my lips with his again and kissed the living daylight out of me. I loved every second of it. At this moment the world around us just disappeared. It was just me and Nick enjoying our little happy bubble.

Nick made a face when Chris approached our table the next morning. I asked him to join us for breakfast, but he politely refused.
“Thanks for the offer, Emily, but I have a plane to catch. I just wanted to thank you personally for your time yesterday.” He ran a hand through his blonde locks, “Talking to you made all the doubts I had before disappear. So thank you for listening and I wish you well.” He glanced at Nick, “Both of you.”
“Aren’t you rebranding your club here?” I asked confused, “Aren’t you supposed to stay longer?”
I could see the warmth spreading in his eyes, “I left a very detailed rapport with my club manager to follow. If they have any questions they know how to reach me.” He looked amused, “I have to take care of a few things back in New York.”
He bid his goodbye and left just as quickly as he arrived. After his words, all I could do was stare at my delicious looking food. He wasn’t going back to his house in Australia, he was going to New York, which meant that he was going to deal with Anna. I didn’t know if I should be happy about that. What if Anna only got worse after this?”
Nick reached for my hand across the table and squeezed it lightly, “You made me like that fucking bastard.” I smiled at his words, “Damn you, Emily.”
“I’m sorry you’re becoming friends with all your rivals.” I brushed my thumb over the back of his hand, “That’s really a nightmare.”
He nodded, “It is! This business is tough, I’m supposed to be badass.”
“I’ll try and piss off the next person who crosses our path,” I promised him.
Nick threw his head back and laughed. We had a normal breakfast after that, though in the back of my mind I was wondering about Anna and Chris. Would they stay together, would he take her back home with him or would they separate? I really wished he’d take her with him back to Australia. That would put enough distance between Anna and Nick.
