The black ellipse was split in half by the Divine Dragon Sword’s force, like a sharp knife through watermelon, silently. Hundreds of black bats fell from the sky, leaving only their remains after the black ellipse vanished.
“This is… a spiritual weapon!” Rafferty’s face showed shock, fixating on the sword in Leo’s hand.
“You know the value of quality. This is called Divine Dragon Sword, design to slay demons and heretics.” Leo replied calmly, though his heart was heavy.
He had destroyed Rafferty’s bats, but he hadn’t injured him in the slightest. Rafferty must be concealing his true strength.
Rafferty’s eyes gleamed with greed. “Such a spiritual weapon, in your hands, can only exhibit half of its potential. What a waste. Once I kill you, I’ll refine it with a secret method, surely unlocking its full power.”
“Is that so? Then I’ll just give it to you now!”
Leo released his grip on the sword handle, allowing the Divine Dragon Sword to hover and tremble in the air. Blue flames ignited on the sword surface, propelling it towards Rafferty.
Rafferty pulled out a talisman, tossing it into the air and pointing with his sword-finger. A black beam shot from his finger, striking the talisman.
Instead of burning, the talisman exploded with a bang, releasing a black dragon that countered the approaching Divine Dragon Sword with a puff of black gas.
The gas enveloped the Divine Dragon Sword like cotton candy, halting it in mid-air as the blue flames died down.
Leo, shocked, used his spiritual perception to retrieve the sword, but regardless of its struggle, the black gas, like super glue, kept it suspended, immobile.
Angry, Leo employed the Mysterious Heaven Body Technique, leaping into the air to reach the Divine Dragon Sword.
But he was too slow; the black dragon opened its mouth, quickly sucking in the black gas with the Divine Dragon Sword.
With a loud boom, the black dragon exploded, vanishing, leaving the used talisman to fall back into Rafferty’s hand.
“A spiritual weapon sealing talisman!” Leo glanced at Rafferty, teeth clenched in rage.
Such a talisman was designed to absorb and seal spiritual weapons, lacking in attack power but considered a fifth-level Talisman.
Once one’s spiritual weapon was sealed by it, the only recourse was destroying the talisman with Spiritual Power.
“Well done, you know it.” Rafferty, satisfied, pocketed the talisman, taunting, “Thanks for the gift. Next, absorbing your life essence will be delightful.”
Leo didn’t bother with dialogue, moving into action.
Using the Mysterious Heaven Body Technique and a symbol against the sky, he called down thunder.
Boom!
A thunderclap echoed, arresting Rafferty’s attention.
“Heaven’s Thunder Purges Evil, Divine Lightning Judgment, Absolution!” Leo shouted, bringing down a massive lightning strike.
“Magic Shielding!” Rafferty tensed, aware of the thunder’s power.
A gold-green shield materialized around him, sheltering him from the impending lightning.
Boom!
Another thunderous roar as a blinding lightning bolt, harboring a formidable power, struck the shield, dimming its brightness and emerging cracks.
The third and most formidable lightning bolt followed, tearing through the shield and hitting Rafferty directly.
The violent current passed through his body, transparently revealing his skeleton as if under X-ray.
After the current subsided, settling dust exposed Rafferty’s figure.
His artistic hair stood on end, emitting a scorched smell.
His face was a patchwork of contrasting patches, occasionally twitching.
His once-decent outfit was now torn and tattered, looking worse than a street beggar.
Bleeding from the mouth, Rafferty in disbelief asked, “How could you possibly wield such an ancient true technique as the Divine Lightning Judgment!?”
“Frightened?” Leo stared down at him, “If you’re scared, return the Divine Dragon Sword. Maybe then, if I’m in a good mood, I might spare your life.”
“Spare me? Ha ha ha…” Rafferty, looking demented, laughed at Leo. “Young man, be realistic. The Divine Lightning Judgment must be your strongest move, right? If three strikes couldn’t kill me, what chance do you think you have?”
As he spoke, Rafferty spread his arms, dark energy radiating, the vicinity turning corrosive.
Black aura tendrils emerged from his back, slithering towards Leo like tentacles.
Leo quickly created a fire wall before him in response.
The next moment, the black tendrils clashed with the fire wall.
Bang! A loud explosion, flames scattering, part of the tendrils turned into black wind, the rest breaking through towards Leo.
Just before the tendrils could grasp Leo, he vanished, leaving them to burrow into the ground, seemingly still tracking him.
