Recalling the Divine Dragon Sword, Leo pondered for a moment and decided to target the Dead Infant Curse, which was the old witch’s weak spot.
Leo stabbed at the belly of one of the corpses with a single sword strike.
As expected, just as it was about to hit, a tremendous blocking force came from the Divine Dragon Sword. The old witch used her staff to deflect the Divine Dragon Sword.
Leo was surprised to find that the old witch’s staff was incredibly hard. He had thought that the Divine Dragon Sword would cut through it, but instead, his sword was nearly knocked away.
Looking at the seven corpses once again, the old witch’s face showed signs of annoyance. She said in a grumpy voice, “You brat, I don’t want to waste any more time with you. Die!”
The old witch swung her staff at Leo from a tricky angle, and without hesitation, Leo raised his sword to defend.
The staff collided with the Divine Dragon Sword, producing a loud bang and sparks.
The staff missed its target and instantly transformed into a black whip, resembling a black serpent attempting to entangle Leo.
Leo quickly retreated and employed the Mysterious Heaven Body Technique, wielding the Divine Dragon Sword vigorously to block the relentless attacks of the whip.
After going through this series of moves and constantly using his Spiritual Power, Leo’s forehead started to bead with sweat.
His cultivation level was still too low. If he had reached the Spirit General Realm, Leo was certain that with the Divine Dragon Sword, he could have split this strange staff into two!
Seeing that the staff couldn’t harm Leo, the old witch took out a black horn from her body and blew into it.
“Woo…”
The sound of the horn resonated, causing Leo’s mind to tremble, and he suddenly felt a momentary daze.
During this moment of distraction, the black whip pierced through Leo’s defenses and wound itself around his body.
As the black whip tightened, a piercing pain spread throughout his body.
Leo’s face turned pale as he desperately controlled the Divine Dragon Sword to strike the whip entwined around him. However, besides intensifying the pain, he couldn’t cut through the ghostly entity the staff had transformed into.
He tried to use escape techniques but was horrified to find that he couldn’t activate any of them.
Although he fiercely used his Spiritual Power to resist, the tightening black whip remained relentless. With the sound of his bones cracking and his breath almost ceasing, Leo was on the verge of passing out from the excruciating pain.
As the whip’s tightening momentum stopped, the old witch slowly walked up to Leo, looked at him coldly, and said, “Once caught by my Underworld Divine Staff, even if you were a god, you wouldn’t be able to escape.”
Taking advantage of the old witch’s words, Leo controlled the Divine Dragon Sword and attempted to attack her. However, with a wave of the old witch’s right hand, a massive force sent the Divine Dragon Sword flying and it fell to the ground.
The old witch wasn’t in a hurry to kill Leo. She turned around and looked at the seven corpses in front of her, saying in a strange tone, “Kid, before your imminent death, open your eyes wide and watch.”
The old witch formed a hand seal with one hand, then opened her hands in a circular motion, enveloping herself and the seven corpses in a faint black mist, blocking out the positive energy.
The bellies of the six corpses started squirming again. It was midnight.
The second corpse’s belly ruptured, and the Dead Infant Curse screeched as it crawled out. When it saw the old witch, it resembled a baby animal seeing its mother and let out a strange cry.
The old witch extended her right hand, and a black small jar appeared in her hand.
She opened the lid of the jar and placed it near the corpse. After a couple of squealing sounds from the Dead Infant Curse, it started crawling toward the jar.
While the old witch was focused on collecting the Curse, a cold smile appeared on Leo’s lips. He still had one treasure left unused.
With a thought, the Divine Dragon Sword flew up from the ground, attacking the Dead Infant Curse crawling towards the jar. At the same time, a purple radiance flashed behind the old witch.
A diversionary move, Purple Radiance appeared like a purple lightning bolt, piercing through the old witch’s neck.
The old witch’s neck did not bleed, but a foul smell rushed into Leo’s nose.
Immediately, the old witch’s body began to tremble, and Leo sensed something was amiss. He quickly retreated and activated a protective talisman.
“Boom!”
The old witch’s body unexpectedly exploded, releasing countless maggots that scattered in all directions.
Many of the maggots crashed into the protective barrier, forming disgusting yellow liquid upon impact. The remaining maggots, burned by the scorching energy, turned into charred powder.
Retracting Purple Radiance and recalling the Divine Dragon Sword into his hand, Leo approached the seven corpses.
The first Dead Infant that crawled out had already died. Leo, not taking any chances, struck it with his sword.
Next, Leo used his sword to pick out the Dead Infant from the remaining six corpses. He then activated a Skyfire talisman, reducing the Dead Infant Curse and the corpses to ashes.
Leaving the morgue and stepping outside, the night was dark with swaying tree shadows. Combined with the eerie atmosphere of the hospital, it gave off a terrifying feeling.
The Montoya family members who were lurking saw Leo emerge and immediately reported to Jedidiah.
Soon, Emory appeared before Leo.
The first words he said upon seeing Leo were not about whether he had eliminated the person who planted the Curse, but about Leo’s well-being.
Leo shook his head and said, “I’m fine. It was a Curse planted by a Shaman Black Sorcerer, and I’ve taken care of her. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get any information about the mastermind from her.”
“As long as the person who planted the Curse is resolved, that’s good,” Emory said, finally showing a hint of joy on his previously solemn face. “As for the mastermind, my family will definitely find them.”
Leo nodded. “Mr. Montoya, you can handle the follow-up matters yourself. I can’t be of much help.”
Returning to Montoya’s Residence, in the living room, Emory handed an envelope to Leo. “Dr. Bloomer, I’m extremely grateful for what you’ve done this time. Please accept this envelope as a token of my appreciation.”
In fact, Emory had installed a miniature camera in the morgue beforehand. He had watched the entire scene of Leo’s battle with the old witch on the monitor until the camera was damaged during the fight.
So in Emory’s eyes, Leo had become a figure akin to an immortal.
After Leo accepted the red envelope, Emory continued, “Dr. Bloomer, from now on, you are the most honored guest of my family. If you ever need any assistance from my family, please don’t hesitate to let me know.”
Emory knew better than anyone else what it meant for the Montoya family to establish a good relationship with a knowledgeable master.
“Mr. Montoya, you’re too kind. If you encounter any geomancy issues in the future, you can also reach out to me,” Leo replied.
The next morning, after a hearty breakfast, Leo took the special car arranged by Emory to return to Langstel.
Upon reaching his clinic, Leo got into his own car and headed for the Seven Stars Sword Sect.
While on the way, Leo realized that he was being followed.
He made a left turn, diverting from his original path, and stopped his car in the middle of the road.
