Chapter 1055 Eccentric Thought Patterns

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-6-3

“Jessica, if you add another four hundred thousand, I can make your unwanted son-in-law disappear from this world completely,” the bald man’s eyes gleamed with greed and ruthlessness.
“Disappear completely…” A thought crossed Jessica’s mind. “Can you truly ensure that there will be no trace left behind?”
“It’s a must. If anything goes wrong, we’ll take responsibility!” The bald man guaranteed with absolute confidence.
“Four hundred thousand is too much. I can add at most another two hundred thousand,” Jessica bargained.
“This is a matter of life and death. Four hundred thousand is non-negotiable! After we’re done, we will leave Langstel. You won’t be implicated in any way. It’s absolutely safe for you. Think it over.”
Jessica began to weigh her options. She wanted to prevent Leo and Sophia from remarrying. Spending four hundred thousand to get rid of Leo might be worth it if she could recoup the investment when marrying off her daughter in the future.
After careful consideration, Jessica believed the deal could be made. She looked at the bald man and asked, “Can you truly guarantee that there will be no trace left behind and that it won’t lead back to me?”
The bald man smirked, “Jessica, even if something happens, I will take the blame. It has nothing to do with you. Rest assured.”
“Alright, deal!” Jessica gritted her teeth.
The bald man gave her a thumbs up. “Jessica, you’re fierce! I love doing business with employers like you. I hope we have a pleasant cooperation!”
Jessica took out a bank card and handed it to the bald man. “There’s a hundred thousand in this card as a deposit. After the job is done, I’ll give you five hundred thousand.”
The bald man accepted the bank card, his face beaming with a smile. “Jessica, trust me. Wait for my good news.”
Jessica didn’t want to linger in this murky place. After finalizing the deal, she turned around and walked out.
After Jessica left, one of the henchmen couldn’t help but ask, “Boss, six hundred thousand to kill someone, isn’t it a bit too little?”
“Yeah, I found out that this woman lives in Cloud Dream Mountain Villa. She’s a rich woman!” Another henchman chimed in.
“You guys don’t understand. I’m playing the long game here. This old woman will be our long-term cash cow once we’re done with that unwanted son-in-law, Leo! We can use this incident to blackmail Jessica, and then she’ll have to obediently keep giving us money.”
“Boss, you’re wise!”
“Boss, mighty! But I wonder if that freeloading son-in-law will be easy to deal with?”
“A freeloading waste. He can be easily taken care of without any worries.”
“It seems like we’re destined to make a fortune…”
Jessica hailed a taxi on the roadside and got in. With an air of superiority, she ordered the driver, “Go to the Cloud Dream Mountain Villa area.”
Through the rearview mirror, the taxi driver glanced at Jessica and smiled, “Ma’am, are you going to the Cloud Dream Mountain Villa area to visit relatives?”
Upon hearing this, Jessica immediately became furious. “What do you mean? Look down on me? I’ve bought a villa in the Cloud Dream Mountain Villa area, and that’s where my home is!”
Taken aback by Jessica’s outburst, the taxi driver felt awkward and remained silent.
Jessica seemed to sense an opportunity to display her superiority. She struck a high and mighty pose and continued, “Someone like you, driving a taxi, can’t earn much in a month, right? No wonder you can’t see my worth, because you’re living at the bottom of society.”
And so, the taxi driver drove while listening to Jessica’s incessant complaints, almost running a red light several times due to her irritability.
The taxi driver understood that he had picked up a shrew. Arguing with such a low-class woman would bring him no benefit whatsoever.
Thus, the taxi driver remained silent throughout the journey until they arrived at the entrance of Cloud Dream Mountain Villa.
With an air of arrogance, Jessica opened the car door and got out, slamming the door shut with a loud bang.
Approaching the driver’s seat, Jessica haughtily asked, “How much?”
“One hundred,” the driver replied.
Jessica took out a hundred dollar bill from her wallet and threw it through the car window, disdainfully saying, “Open your eyes wide and look carefully. I’m about to enter the Cloud Dream Mountain Villa area, not to visit someone, but because I live here!”
After saying that, Jessica tossed her head, strutting towards the gate of the villa area.
The taxi driver took a deep breath, watching Jessica’s back with a sigh, muttering two words under his breath, “Stupid bitch!”
Entering the living room after opening the villa gate, Jessica saw Sophia sitting on the sofa watching TV.
“Mom, where did you go?” Sophia turned her head and asked.
Jessica forced a smile, adjusted her emotions, and walked up to Sophia, asking, “I went to play cards. Is there something wrong?”
“Is that so? Usually, when you go to play cards, you only come back around eleven or twelve. Why did you come back so early today?” Sophia looked at Jessica, her face showing a hint of suspicion.
Jessica’s heart raced, her gaze flickering, feeling guilty. She defended herself, “My friends had something come up, so I came back early. Is there a problem?”
Sophia clearly sensed that Jessica was lying, but she didn’t feel like pursuing it any further.
Turning her head away, Sophia focused her gaze back on the TV.
“Let me tell you, my dear, the taxi drivers these days have such low quality. They’re a bunch of scum.” Jessica continued to find fault.
“What did the taxi driver do to provoke you?” Sophia casually asked without turning her head.
“I took a taxi back, and I encountered a trashy taxi driver. He had the audacity to look down on me and said I was here to visit Cloud Dream Mountain Villa. Can you believe his audacity?” Jessica remained indignant.
Sophia was speechless. “Mom, the driver was just making small talk with you. Why do you take it so seriously?”
“What do you mean by small talk? He clearly looked down on me and thought I’m not the owner of a villa in the Cloud Dream Mountain Villa area!” Jessica continued to feel resentful.
Sophia had a deep understanding of her mother’s eccentric thought patterns. Essentially, Jessica’s love for showing off and her vanity had reached an abnormal level, combined with menopause, which made it terrifying.
Sophia stretched and let out a yawn, smiling wryly. “Mom, just stop overthinking. How could a driver look down on you?”
“Girl, can’t you speak properly? What do you mean by overthinking?” Jessica stood with her hands on her hips, ready to challenge Sophia, “It was clearly that trashy driver who looked down on people!”
Engaging in an argument with Jessica was simply inviting trouble. Sophia stood up, helplessly saying, “Mom, believe whatever you want. I’m going to my room to rest.”
“Girl, you explain it to me clearly. Your mother was insulted outside, and you didn’t even say a word of concern. Do you think that’s appropriate?” Jessica stopped Sophia, pretending to be pitiful and aggrieved.
Sophia shrugged, bypassed Jessica, and headed towards the stairs.
