The farmhouse business looked pretty good, with a large empty space next to it used for parking.
It was dinner time and there were quite a few cars parked in the lot, most of them with Langstel license plates.
After parking their car, they found a relatively quiet spot to sit down. The food was ordered by Coral and when Leo tasted it, he had to admit that the flavor was pretty good. At least he couldn’t find this kind of taste in the city.
Just as they started eating, Leo noticed a conversation going on at the neighboring table between a middle-aged woman and man.
“Master Frazier, I know you have great powers. You must save my son. He’s my only child and if anything happens to him, I don’t want to live anymore.” The middle-aged woman spoke with some excitement but mostly urgency.
The middle-aged man had an embarrassed look on his face, “Mrs. Carpenter, it’s not that I don’t want to help you but truly I’m powerless here. Your son has been contaminated by something unclean and when I came over yesterday as you recall – all I could do is read fortunes or check out geomantic stuff around your house – your son’s situation is beyond me.”
This made Lacey Carpenter even more upset; she stood up ready to kneel before Maverick Frazier who quickly stopped her, “Mrs. Carpenter, please don’t do this in front of everyone.”
“Master Frazier,” she said tearfully, “I know you’re someone who really has skills; if you don’t help my son then he’ll be done for! Please Master Frazier! As long as you’re willing to help us out, we’ll give whatever money we can scrape together!”
Maverick helped her sit down on a chair, his face filled with helplessness. “Mrs. Carpenter, it’s really not about the money. I can’t truly consider myself a geomancy master. I only have superficial knowledge about it.”
“Maybe you can go to the Temple and seek help from the Taoist priests there. They might be able to assist you.”
The middle-aged woman shook her head in despair and said with a bitter smile, “It’s useless. I’ve been there before, but those Taoist priests didn’t even see me.”
Faced with the middle-aged woman’s plea, the middle-aged man looked helpless and at a loss for what to do.
If it were someone he didn’t know, he would have already left. However, Lacey was introduced by a relative, so he couldn’t outright refuse, nor could he not refuse.
Coral kicked Leo, who was lost in thought, with her foot and whispered, “Don’t you know geomancy? Aren’t you going to help?”
Leo smiled bitterly in his heart. Such matters couldn’t be resolved just by wanting to help.
Geomancy issues always involve the concepts of cause and effect, and once you intervene, the karmic consequences will affect you.
In geomancy, there’s a saying about the “five disadvantages and three deficiencies.”
The five disadvantages refer to “widowed, divorced, orphaned, solitary, and handicapped.”
The three deficiencies are “wealth, life, and power.”
The world operates according to its own laws, and those who try to uncover its secrets and alter the course of events face punishment from the heavens.
The development of events follows its own cause and effect, and forcibly changing the course of events will bring about unwarranted calamities.
The cycle of cause and effect is clear, and if you interfere and change the cause and effect, you must bear the consequences of the altered karmic forces.
The resulting feedback often manifests in the form of the five disadvantages and three deficiencies.
Looking at the middle-aged woman’s heartbroken expression, Leo couldn’t bear it either. After some thought, he stood up and walked over.
“Ma’am, what happened to your son? I am a geomancy master, and perhaps I can help you solve the problem,” Leo said directly.
Both of them looked at Leo simultaneously. The middle-aged woman hesitated for a moment, while Maverick wore a skeptical expression.
“Young man, you shouldn’t speak casually. Even if you are a geomancy master, you can’t solve this problem,” Maverick cautioned.
Leo released a small amount of Spiritual Power, pressing it towards Maverick.
Suddenly, Maverick felt a pang of pain in his heart, and his chest felt constricted.
As soon as the Spiritual Power was released, the oppressive feeling disappeared. When Maverick looked at Leo again, his expression changed from doubt to respect.
Maverick stood up and performed an ancient ceremony to Leo, politely saying, “I have failed to recognize you. I hope you will forgive me.”
Leo returned the gesture and said, “Master Frazier, there’s no need to be so polite. I overheard your conversation just now, so I took the liberty to help.”
Maverick visibly breathed a sigh of relief and turned to the middle-aged woman, saying, “Mrs. Carpenter, this young master is a true geomancy master. Perhaps there is hope for your son.”
“Really?” The middle-aged woman looked at Leo with disbelief.
Leo waved his hand and said, “Ma’am, I can’t guarantee that I can definitely save your son. Let’s have a meal first, and after we eat, you can take me to see your son.”
Leo had already weighed the options in his mind. If this matter proved to be very difficult and required a great cost or exceeded what he could handle, he would simply say that he couldn’t solve it.
After finishing their meal, the middle-aged woman hurriedly led a few people back to her home. Fortunately, her house was in the village, so the distance was not far.
Arriving at the middle-aged woman’s home, they found a three-story small house with a small courtyard outside. As they entered the courtyard, it appeared somewhat dim due to the lack of lights.
The middle-aged woman opened the door to the living room, and Leo’s keen senses detected a gloomy aura.
Coral seemed to have sensed something too and instinctively pulled Leo’s hand.
It wasn’t until the middle-aged woman turned on the lights that the eerie feeling slowly dissipated.
“Mr. Bloomer, Master Frazier, my son is in the bedroom on the second floor. He hasn’t left his room for a week, except to eat during the day… ” The middle-aged woman’s face filled with sadness as she led the three of them upstairs.
Outside her son Jasiah’s bedroom, Leo used his spiritual senses to probe in advance.
With this probe, he was almost scared half to death.
The room was sparsely furnished with just a bed, a wardrobe, and a computer desk.
The room was not lit, but a white candle was burning on the computer desk, and in front of the desk sat a man slightly younger than Leo.
The man held an embroidered shoe in his left hand and was threading a needle with his right hand.
Embroidered shoes?
A grown man, not turning on the lights at night, and lighting a white candle to embroider shoes!
And then, Leo looked at the man’s face.
It was split in half, with one side white and the other side black.
This scene, combined with the eerie and terrifying atmosphere in the room, was definitely more frightening than any rural corpse or midnight horror movie.
A timid person entering recklessly would probably be scared to death.
