Chapter 974 Healing Him Himself

Kareem couldn’t help but bow his head. If he were fired from First Municipal Hospital, he knew that he wouldn’t be able to make it in the medical field anymore.
After a brief moment of consideration, Kareem knew what he had to do. He looked at Leo with a submissive expression and said, “I’m sorry.”
Leo didn’t even look at Kareem. Instead, he asked President Mackintosh, “President Mackintosh, is there a chief physician named Johnston at this hospital?”
“Yes,” President Mackintosh replied. “Dr. Johnston is the department head of oncology.”
Leo nodded and said to President Mackintosh, “Could you please ask Dr. Johnston to come here? I have something I want to ask him.”
“You two,” President Mackintosh ordered two security guards. “Go get Dr. Johnston.”
As soon as Kareem heard that they were going to call Mr. Johnston over, his heart sank.
He hadn’t reported anything about Domingo’s father’s surgery or made an appointment with Jackson Johnston on that side.
If Jackson came over now, it would definitely expose him and lead to his termination from First Municipal Hospital.
Thinking about this made Kareem quickly say, “President Mackintosh, let me go get Dr. Johnston instead.”
After speaking, Kareem lifted his foot to leave the ward.
“Stop right there, you don’t need to go!” President Mackintosh couldn’t let Kareem slip away using this opportunity.
President Mackintosh’s reprimanding voice forced Kareem to reluctantly halt his steps.
Upon seeing the security guards go to fetch Dr. Johnston, Mrs. Noah’s face lit up with joy. “Deon, as soon as Dr. Johnston arrives, your surgery should be able to proceed soon.”
Mr. Noah nodded, feeling relieved.
Five or six minutes later, a male doctor wearing a white coat and glasses, accompanied by two security guards, entered the ward.
“Director, did you call for me?” Jackson looked at President Mackintosh and asked.
President Mackintosh introduced, “Mr. Bloomer, this is our oncologist, Dr. Jackson Johnston. You can ask him any questions you have.”
Leo looked at Jackson and asked directly, “Mr. Johnston, are your upcoming surgery schedules full? If I make an appointment now, will I have to wait for over two weeks?”
Although Jackson didn’t understand why Leo was asking this, he answered truthfully, “I don’t have any surgeries scheduled except for tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.”
President Mackintosh added, “Mr. Johnston performs surgeries for benign tumors. It’s better to remove benign tumors as early as possible, so the surgery scheduling is usually within three days, rarely exceeding a week. Of course, there are exceptions for patients with special requests.”
After hearing Dr. Johnston and President Mackintosh’s conversation, Mr. Noah, Mrs. Noah, and Domingo looked at Kareem with anger in their eyes.
Mr. Johnston looked at Leo, puzzled. “Where did you get the news that my surgery is scheduled for two weeks later?”
“Mr. Johnston, Dr. Lynd told us that your surgery is already scheduled for two weeks later,” Domingo said angrily.
Initially, Domingo thought Kareem simply wanted to pursue her. But now everything was clear-Kareem intentionally delayed her father’s surgery just to get close to her!
“Dr. Lynd?” Jackson couldn’t help but look at Kareem, who remained silent in the ward.
“Kareem, Dr. Lynd!” Domingo directly named him.
Upon hearing this, Jackson’s face immediately darkened. “Dr. Lynd didn’t inform me that there was a patient in this ward needing surgery, and I haven’t received any surgical requests for this ward either.”
After Jackson’s statement, everyone in the ward turned their gaze towards Kareem.
Kareem’s face turned pale, wishing he could find a hole to hide in.
President Mackintosh was furious. “Kareem, a doctor’s duty is to save lives and heal the injured. Not only did you fail to do your job properly, but you also abused your authority and deliberately delayed the patient’s condition. You’re fired! Now get out!”
“Director, I was wrong. I did make mistakes, but I was also thinking about the hospital. Please give me another chance. And it’s true that he kicked me!” Kareem’s voice pleaded, mixed with a sob.
Public tertiary hospitals are quite difficult to enter nowadays. Kareem’s ability to join the First Municipal Hospital was also due to many connections.
If he were expelled from the First Municipal Hospital, even the slightly better hospitals in Langstel wouldn’t accept him. It would be like losing a well-paying job.
“As a doctor, delaying a patient’s condition willfully and without conscience, even if he kicked you, you deserve it, or even worse!” President Mackintosh was very angry, and the consequences were severe. “Bennett, if Kareem refuses to leave, tell your people to throw him out!”
Bennett was also extremely displeased with Kareem at this point.
Having worked at the First Municipal Hospital for most of his life, he had finally become the head of security. If it weren’t for President Mackintosh being present today, he would have offended a big shot for sure. And when the time came for people to be kicked out, he would definitely be one of them.
“Let’s go, Dr. Lynd,” Bennett said coldly, looking at Kareem.
Kareem knew that there was no way to salvage the situation, so he decided to give up, “President Mackintosh, you can’t fire me. I’ve spent twenty…”
“Throw him out!” President Mackintosh’s face turned dark as he shouted.
Bennett waved his hand, and two security guards approached, one on each side, gripping Kareem’s arms. Despite Kareem’s feeble struggles, they dragged him out.
After Kareem was dragged out, President Mackintosh finally breathed a sigh of relief. He looked at Leo and Augustine with an apologetic smile and said, “Mr. Bloomer, Mr. Martinez, there has been a mistake in my management. I apologize to both of you.”
Saying that, President Mackintosh walked over to Mr. Noah’s bedside and expressed his apologies, “Sir, due to the incompetence of our hospital’s doctors, your condition was delayed. I sincerely apologize to you.”
“I will have a nurse arrange a single room for you. After you rest well for a day, Mr. Johnston will perform the surgery to remove the tumor. I assure you that the surgery will be successful, and you will recover and be discharged.”
President Mackintosh handled the social aspect of the situation quite well.
President Mackintosh’s words were like a reassurance for Domingo and her family.
Leo also approached and spoke frankly to President Mackintosh, “President Mackintosh, you can arrange a separate room for Mr. Noah, but I won’t trouble you with the surgery.”
Leo had already decided to personally treat Deon.
President Mackintosh’s expression changed upon hearing Leo’s words. He thought Leo was angry.
“Mr. Bloomer, please rest assured about the surgery. I can guarantee a successful operation. Mr. Johnston at our hospital is an expert in this field,” President Mackintosh hastily said.
Leo waved his hand, “President Mackintosh, please don’t misunderstand. I don’t doubt the abilities of First Municipal Hospital. I just intend to personally treat Mr. Noah.”
“Oh, I see. Well then,” President Mackintosh understood Leo’s extraordinary medical skills and didn’t want to say anything further.
