Leo nodded and replied, “Okay, since the hospital has regulations, I will follow them. Dr. Lynd, please open the door to the ward.”
“Leo, you can’t leave,” Domingo quickly grabbed Leo.
Leo gave her a signal with his eyes and Domingo let go.
Kareem snorted and walked to the door of the ward. He reached out and opened it. “Please.”
Leo walked directly towards the door. When he was about half a meter away from Kareem, he suddenly kicked him in the butt.
Kareem felt himself flying through the air in a beautiful parabolic arc before landing with a thud in a trash can outside of the hallway.
“Since there are regulations against excessive behavior in hospital rooms,” Leo said calmly as he watched Kareem struggling inside of the trash can, “there won’t be many people left after you fly out.”
With a bang, Leo closed their room’s door.
When Leo turned around again, Mr. Noah, Mrs. Noah, Domingo and two other patients were all looking at him with shocked expressions on their faces.
Leo shrugged and explained, “Mr. and Mrs. Noah, Dr. Lynd clearly has intentions towards Domingo so I wanted to kick me out of the ward. I can only give him a taste of his own medicine.”
Domingo snapped out of her thoughts, imagining Kareem being kicked and couldn’t help but stifle a laugh.
Makai, in the middle bed, chuckled and said, “Deon, your son-in-law is great. That Dr. Lynd has too many twisted thoughts.”
Mrs. Noah, however, worried that things might escalate and said reproachfully, “You’re too impulsive, how can you kick a doctor?”
“Honey, I think Leo did a good job kicking him. That Dr. Lynd is clearly delaying my surgery to pursue our Domingo. He has a flawed character,” Mr. Noah said, realizing Kareem’s intentions and speaking to Mrs. Noah.
Mrs. Noah sighed and said, “By offending Dr. Lynd, what about your surgery…”
“The whole of Langstel has more than just the First Municipal Hospital for surgery. Instead of waiting here, it’s better to switch hospitals!” Mr. Noah said calmly.
“Alright, then let’s handle the discharge procedures today,” Mrs. Noah reluctantly agreed.
“Mr. Noah, don’t worry, leave your illness to me,” Leo looked at Mr. Noah and reassured him.
Mr. Noah thought Leo was referring to transferring hospitals and nodded, saying, “Leo, I’ll trouble you then.”
In the hallway, Kareem finally managed to climb out of the trash can, smelling the stench coming from his body, he couldn’t help but curse, “Damn it, how dare he kick me!”
Taking off his white coat, Kareem gritted his teeth and ran towards the stairs.
Kareem planned to call the security guards and teach Leo a lesson.
On the ground floor, the doors of Elevator No. 1 opened, and First Municipal Hospital President Mackintosh and a middle-aged man stepped out of the elevator together.
If one were to look closely, they would notice that as they exited the elevator, President Mackintosh intentionally fell half a step behind the middle-aged man.
Coupled with the smile on President Mackintosh’s face, it was evident that the middle-aged man held a high position.
“President Mackintosh, thank you for your trouble,” the middle-aged man said politely, holding a bag of medicine.
President Mackintosh smiled and replied, “Mr. Martinez, don’t mention it. It’s my personal honor as well as the First Municipal Hospital’s to serve Mr. Fox.”
The middle-aged man’s name was Augustine Martinez, Noel’s secretary.
“President Mackintosh, during the years you’ve been in charge of the First Municipal Hospital, you’ve done a great job. Mr. Fox has noticed,” Augustine said with a faint smile.
“Working hard is only natural, as it’s all for the sake of patients and the citizens,” President Mackintosh replied with a smile.
Although President Mackintosh had a few more years before retirement, he wanted to take one more step forward before retiring.
According to the latest news, there was a vacant position for Deputy Director in the City Health Bureau, and whether or not he could become the Deputy Director would primarily depend on Noel’s recommendation.
Just as President Mackintosh finished speaking, a discordant voice came from the security office on the ground floor.
“Bennett, quickly gather all the security guards. Someone is assaulting a doctor! There’s a medical disturbance!”
The voice was loud enough for President Mackintosh and Augustine, who were a distance away, to hear clearly.
President Mackintosh’s previously smiling face slightly darkened, and he glanced at Augustine. The smile on Augustine’s face also vanished.
At that moment, President Mackintosh really wanted to kick that person who was shouting and causing a scene.
It was hard enough for himself to leave a good impression on Augustine, and I was about to send him out of the hospital when an unpleasant voice appeared at this moment.
Augustine turned to President Mackintosh and frowned, asking, “President Mackintosh, what’s going on?”
President Mackintosh’s heart tightened, and he quickly said, “Mr. Martinez, I can assure you that there is absolutely no medical disturbance at the First Municipal Hospital. That person who is shouting and causing a scene is probably doing it maliciously.”
President Mackintosh was well aware that if Augustine gave him a negative review to Noel, then his chances of securing the position of Deputy Director at the Health Bureau would likely be diminished.
Soon, President Mackintosh saw the person who was shouting and causing a scene, and his anger surged. It turned out to be Kareem, the Deputy Chief Physician of the First Municipal Hospital!
Bennett, from the security office, came out with several security guards. After briefly asking Kareem about the situation, they followed Kareem upstairs.
This abnormal situation immediately attracted the attention of many people, and some well-intentioned individuals quickly followed the security guards upstairs.
“President Mackintosh, let’s go up and have a look as well,” Augustine said in a deep voice.
President Mackintosh naturally couldn’t refuse. Wiping the cold sweat off his forehead, he nodded and said, “Alright, Mr. Martinez, please follow me.”
Since they didn’t know which floor Kareem and the security guards were going to, President Mackintosh had no choice but to lead Augustine up the stairs.
On the second floor, the door of Mr. Noah’s ward was forcefully opened.
Kareem walked into the ward and pointed at Leo, saying, “Bennett, it’s this guy. Not only did he not follow the hospital’s regulations, but he also physically assaulted a doctor!”
The moment the ward door opened, Bennett saw people inside talking and laughing. It didn’t look anything like the medical disturbance he had encountered before.
Then, when he looked at the young man Kareem was pointing at, he saw a sunny and handsome individual with a good temperament. He didn’t look like someone who would stoop to physically assaulting a doctor.
Bennett withdrew his gaze and looked at Kareem with a perplexed expression.
Seeing Bennett’s doubtful gaze, Kareem became even more angry. “Bennett, I’m telling the truth. It was this guy who pushed me out of the ward and kicked me into the trash can. Look at my clothes, they’re evidence. Hurry up and arrest him, take him to the police station!”
Seeing the smelly white coat in Kareem’s hands and noticing the bruise on his forehead, Bennett didn’t enter the ward. Instead, he looked at Leo and asked sternly, “Our hospital’s doctor said you physically assaulted him. Is that true?”
