“But since I’m already here, it’s hard to leave without taking a look,” Leo thought to himself. Just then, voices could be heard from inside the main hall.
Leo wasn’t surprised by the sound of people, so he used a low-level levitation spell and hid behind the nearest stone pillar.
He was curious about what these Buddha head thieves were up to.
The group of thieves all held powerful flashlights and quickly appeared on the steps leading up to the platform.
Hamish asked, “Mr. Hood, is this it?”
Mr. Hood nodded his head and said, “Yes, this is it. Let’s go.”
The leader of the thieves hesitated for a moment before waving his hand for his men to go first.
As they walked up the black steps, nothing out of ordinary happened.
The staircase wasn’t long and soon they arrived at the top platform where they could see everything illuminated by their flashlights. Not only were all of them stunned by what they saw but even Leo hiding behind a stone pillar gasped in shock as well.
Only Mr. Hood remained calm as if he had expected this scene already.
At the top of the elevated platform, there was a black throne, and seated on the throne was a robust figure.
Actually, it couldn’t be called a person; it was more accurate to say it was a black humanoid sculpture.
Arranged in a triangular formation around the throne were three stone pillars. The tops of the pillars were flat, and three iron chains extended from the middle, connecting to the body of the humanoid sculpture on the throne.
The entire scene looked as if the sculpture on the throne was imprisoned here by the iron chains.
Leo was shocked not only by the strange scene at the top of the platform but also because he vaguely understood the significance of the arrangement on the platform.
This seemed to be a formation, a formation used to imprison a great menace.
Just as Leo was stunned, the thieves on the platform began to act.
Three of the thieves simultaneously took out something black from their backpacks, and upon closer inspection, those black objects were three Buddha heads.
The three thieves placed the three Buddha heads on the tops of the stone pillars surrounding the throne, and then stepped aside.
Mr. Hood’s face revealed an excited expression as he took out three talismans from his body and affixed them to the foreheads of the Buddha heads on the pillars.
“Comrades, it’s time for you to make a sacrifice,” Mr. Hood’s voice sounded eerie.
The five thieves were bewildered, looking at each other in confusion.
Hamish had a sense of foreboding and couldn’t help but ask, “Sacrifice? What kind of sacrifice, Mr. Hood, what do you mean?”
Only to see Mr. Hood press down with both hands, and the five thieves simultaneously collapsed to the ground, unconscious.
Then he formed a hand seal with one hand and struck one of the thieves with a seal, a total of five seals.
After completing these actions, Mr. Hood sat cross-legged in front of the throne and began chanting.
No, it wasn’t a chant. What he was chanting turned out to be Buddhist scriptures!
And it was the Great Nirvana Sutra!
What kind of show was this guy putting on!?
As the scriptures continuously chanted from Mr. Hood’s mouth, a stream of energy emerged from the heads of the unconscious thieves, gathering incessantly above Mr. Hood’s head.
After the chanting of the scriptures was complete, Mr. Hood suddenly shouted, “Open!”
The energy gathered above his head rapidly spread outwards, and then the talismans on the foreheads of the three Buddha heads on the stone pillars ignited.
After the talismans burned away, the three Buddha heads simultaneously opened their eyes.
Three Buddha heads, six eyes, emitted six substantial golden beams of light converging on the humanoid sculpture sitting on the throne.
The black shell of the humanoid sculpture slowly fell off, and the sculpture itself moved, slowly standing up from the throne.
After the humanoid sculpture stood up completely, its black shell also completely fell off, the golden beams of light disappeared, and the three Buddha heads closed their eyes once again.
A tall figure wearing ancient armor stood before Mr. Hood.
He slowly opened his eyes, and Mr. Hood slowly raised his head.
Those were a pair of eyes that made one’s heart tremble. They had no pupils or whites; they were completely pitch black, occasionally flickering with an evil light. This light could extinguish any rebellious thoughts deep within a person’s heart.
Mr. Hood had already knelt before him, his expression filled with extreme reverence as he said, “Master, I have awakened you. Please bestow power upon me.”
“Very well!” A stiff and hoarse voice sounded, revealing a desolate and evil aura.
Mr. Hood’s body couldn’t help but tremble, and the three iron chains that locked him broke inch by inch as the person in front of him opened his arms. He placed his right hand above Mr. Hood’s head, even though there was no physical contact.
“Crack!”
A faint sound echoed, the sound of a head being crushed.
Mr. Hood had fallen to the ground, his head shattered, blood and brain matter covering the floor.
The resurrected person opened his lips, and white breaths of air emerged from Mr. Hood’s body, entering his mouth.
In just a few seconds, the lifeless body of Mr. Hood on the ground had turned into a withered corpse.
This scene frightened Leo, causing cold sweat to run down his back. He was about to escape when a voice thundered in his ears.
“Come out, and I will make your death a bit more enjoyable.”
He had been discovered!
Leo knew that there was no way to escape and could only face it head-on, albeit reluctantly.
With the Blue Phantom Sword in his hand, Leo swooped down from the air towards the figure on the elevated platform.
As he was about to strike with his sword, the figure on the platform simply waved his hand lightly, and a powerful force appeared above Leo’s head, slamming him directly onto the ground.
Enduring the pain, Leo climbed up from the ground and cautiously asked, “Who are you?”
“Me?” The figure in front of him seemed slightly stunned for a moment, then burst into maniacal laughter. The laughter was bone-chilling, making Leo’s chest feel tight and his head dizzy. “I am Ecthrois Drach, a Cultivator. And you?”
Ecthrois!
Leo looked at him in disbelief.
Ecthrois was the ancient progenitor of zombies, a legendary existence!
