Chapter 922 Making a Few Phone Calls

“Uncle Edwin, it’s me, Baldwin,” he said over the phone.
“Baldwin, just call my cell if you need something. No need to call the office phone,” a middle-aged man’s voice came through on the other end.
“Uncle Edwin, I need your help with something,” Baldwin said directly.
“Go ahead and tell me.”
“There’s a guy named Lawrence Lytton in Langstel. I want all information about him within an hour.”
The man on the other end of the line didn’t hesitate at all and replied, “No problem. I’ll send you everything in half an hour.”
After hanging up the phone, Baldwin took out a Gurkha Black Dragon cigar and put it in his mouth with an expression that showed he was in control of everything.
In less than half an hour, Baldwin received a new email notification on his laptop.
Baldwin moved his mouse while smoking his cigar and opened up the email which contained detailed information about Lawrence – from his great-grandfather to distant relatives’ children – including their names, ages, genders and occupations. If one looked closely enough they would even find out exactly when Lawrence’s grandfather died down to minutes!
After browsing through Lawrence’s information, Baldwin sneered, “He is nothing but garbage…”
Putting down his cigar, Baldwin picked up his phone and found Leo’s name before pressing call button.
Leo must be anxious after such big trouble happened at Leo wanting to hear him ask for help personally.
At this moment, Leo was busy in the clinic, so much so that he didn’t even have time to pay attention to the phone placed aside.
Chasel had to take the phone and handed it to Leo, saying, “Mr. Bloomer, it’s your call.”
“Who’s calling?” Leo asked casually.
Chasel glanced at the caller ID and replied, “Baldwin.”
“Just hang up, don’t answer,” Leo instructed without thinking.
“Okay.” Chasel promptly disconnected the call without hesitation.
In the CEO’s office, Baldwin noticed that the call was abruptly cut off after a few rings. He knew the other party deliberately hung up and felt annoyed. He pressed the call button again.
In the clinic, Chasel hadn’t even put down the phone when it vibrated and rang again.
“Mr. Bloomer, it’s that guy Baldwin calling again,” Chasel handed the phone to Leo.
“Hang up. If it’s him calling, don’t answer at all!” Leo continued to diagnose the patient’s pulse.
Chasel disconnected the call once again.
In the CEO’s office, Baldwin jumped up from his chair as the office door was forcefully pushed open. Bodyguard Levi rushed in with his subordinates, his face filled with tension. He anxiously asked, “Mr. Meredith, what’s wrong?”
Startled by his own bodyguard’s reaction, Baldwin was displeased and said, “What’s wrong? Why did you barge in for no reason? Get out!”
“Mr. Meredith, I heard you yelling outside, and I thought something had happened…” Levi scratched the back of his head, looking embarrassed.
“I was making a phone call, get lost!”
After Levi and his men left, Baldwin slapped the desk with his palm, lowered his voice, and said full of hatred, “Leo, just you wait, someday I’ll make you regret it!”
Although Baldwin was displeased with Leo, he wouldn’t let this emotion and personal grudges affect his business. He could differentiate between what was more important and what was less.
Sitting back on his boss chair, Baldwin’s gaze fell on the laptop screen, eventually focusing on the name of Lawrence’s father, Maddox Lytton.
Maddox worked at the Langstel Judiciary Bureau as a director.
Due to business reasons, Baldwin had the contact numbers of various administrative department heads at Langstel in his phone directory. He found Aydin Barker’s number, who was from the Judiciary Bureau, and dialed it directly.
The call connected, and Baldwin first identified himself, saying, “Mr. Barker, hello, this is Baldwin.”
“Oh, Mr. Meredith, hello, hello,” Aydin replied with a smile.
Baldwin calmly said, “Mr. Barker, I want to report someone.”
Aydin, on the other end of the phone, was momentarily stunned but quickly replied, “Mr. Meredith, who do you want to report?”
“Someone from the Judiciary Bureau, a director named Maddox Lytton. This person is involved in bribery. I suggest you investigate.”
Aydin immediately understood Baldwin’s intention and said with certainty, “Mr. Meredith, since it’s your report, I will definitely conduct a thorough investigation. If it’s confirmed, there will be severe punishments!”
In Baldwin’s view, if Maddox had raised a son like Lawrence, he couldn’t be a good person either. It was certain that the investigation would expose his wrongdoing, and Maddox’s career would be ruined.
Baldwin then felt unsatisfied and proceeded to dial several more numbers.
“Mr. Vogt, I’ve heard that your company’s marketing manager, Gabriel Lytton, is corrupt and has an immoral personal life. I believe it’s necessary to eliminate such a parasite as soon as possible.”
“Mr. Ball, I’ve heard that the CEO of Starlight Real Estate, Ronan Lytton, is involved in bribery during bidding. You really should take care of this matter.”
“Mr. Leigh, it seems that your company has recently formed a strategic partnership with Ocean Abundance Company… The general manager of Ocean Abundance Company, Deborah Lytton, is unreliable. I suggest you carefully consider the collaboration.”
“…”
Baldwin seemed to be in a playful mood, calling people related to Lawrence’s ancestors according to the information in the email and then calling those related to Lawrence’s descendants.
Baldwin had initially planned to call the principal of Lawrence’s sister’s kindergarten, but hesitated and decided against it.
Children should be allowed to grow up in a healthy and happy environment.
With the powerful influence and network of the Meredith family, Baldwin had the ability to make so many calls in such a short time.
Setting the phone aside, Baldwin suddenly felt a sense of exhaustion.
Damn it, he didn’t expect making phone calls to be so tiring.
Lawrence, daring to mess with Beautiful Visage, you can wait to die!
On this afternoon, a sense of joy was evident on the faces of Lawrence’s entire family.
It was a special day-Lawrence’s grandmother’s eightieth birthday.
The celebration was held at the Golden Source Hotel.
After the celebration began, Lawrence raised his glass and offered the first toast, “Grandma, I wish you blessings as vast as the sea and a long life!”
After finishing the birthday toast, with a signal from Lawrence, Raiden presented a golden sculpture of an elderly person holding a peach.
Lawrence spoke again loudly, “Grandma, this is my birthday gift to you, wishing you a long and prosperous life like the immortal in the Peach Sculpture.”
The words filial piety were practically written all over Lawrence’s face.
In contrast, Lawrence’s grandmother sat expressionless in the seat of honor, drooling at the corner of her mouth, showing no reaction to Lawrence’s deliberate display.
