Upon hearing these words, Caelan clenched his teeth and followed Leo’s lead by biting his left index finger and then pressing it onto the Divination Grass. Suddenly, the final divination knot in Caelan’s hand rapidly changed and within a breath of time, it wrapped around Leo’s final knot.
With a “click,” the divination grass in Leo’s hand broke apart from the middle, causing him to stumble back several steps due to inertia. The first round of competition was over and Caelan emerged victorious as Antonio announced the results.
Leo revealed a barely noticeable smile at the corner of his mouth; he had intentionally lost to Caelan. When you want to seriously strike someone down, it is best to let them feel confident first before ultimately making them feel defeated.
Caelan returned to Fraser’s side where Fraser patted him on the shoulder saying, “Well done, Caelan.”
After Caelan stepped aside, Bentley approached for round two where he would face off against Leo.
At Antonio’s command, round two began with Bentley standing in front of Leo wearing an arrogant expression on his face as he taunted, “Do you really dare call yourself a geomancy master? Today I will make you doubt your entire life! Get ready to kneel down and apologize at the ancestral temple!”
Leo had always been indifferent to idiots like him. He smirked and took the copper coins handed to him by the villagers.
The so-called Money Hexagram competition was actually a variation of divination.
The rules were simple: use copper coins to form the hexagram, and then interpret it.
If Bentley formed the hexagram, Leo had to interpret it. If Leo cannot interpret the hexagram formed by Bentley, Bentley won, and vice versa.
Geomancy is vast, and there are countless hexagrams. This method of competition primarily tests the geomancer’s understanding of the hexagrams. In short, the Money Hexagram competition is quite challenging.
Seeing Leo’s silence, Bentley impatiently asked, “Are you ready? Who will cast the divination first, you or me?”
“I will go first,” Leo replied calmly.
Leo took three copper coins, weighed them in his hand for a moment, then casually threw them onto the ground.
After rolling around for a while, the three coins came to a stop, seemingly without any pattern. However, when connected with straight lines, they formed a perfect triangle.
The onlookers were at a loss for words. Apart from the geomancers present, they couldn’t understand the significance of the hexagram formed by the seemingly random coins.
Both Bentley and Leo had twelve copper coins in their hands, but Leo chose to use only three. The White family’s three brothers were puzzled because it seemed impossible to cast a powerful hexagram with just three coins. Bentley, in particular, thought Leo was playing a trick on him.
“What are you doing? Have you cast the hexagram?” Bentley asked uncertainly.
Leo glanced at him and replied, “Interpret it.”
“Look, I told you this guy is pretending to know what he’s doing. He can only form a triangular hexagram, showing no real geomancy skills!” Caelan mocked, taking the lead.
“That makes sense. This young man is probably just a fraud!” echoed some of the villagers watching.
Fraser stroked his sparse beard and a confident expression appeared on his face. In his view, the youngest brother had already won this round. With two wins out of three, he wouldn’t even need to intervene.
Fraser was eagerly anticipating what would happen next-the moment when this ignorant young man would kneel before the White family’s ancestral shrine and apologize.
Leo grew impatient. “Can you interpret the hexagram or not? If you can’t, just admit defeat and stop wasting time!”
“Alright, alright, I’ll interpret it.” Influenced by the atmosphere, Bentley smiled and took two copper coins, placing them in the heaven and earth positions respectively.
Heaven and earth aligned, the simplest method to break the triangular hexagram. Not only that, but with the addition of the two coins, a new hexagram was formed.
Bentley confidently clasped his hands together and said, “Interpret it.”
“Although I can’t understand it, Bentley seems really skilled,” a female voice came from the crowd.
“That’s for sure. He’s the chief’s own younger brother. How could his geomancy skills be lacking!?” another man chimed in.
Leo remained calm, took two copper coins, and placed them in two different positions.
After the divination was complete, Bentley’s smile gradually faded because Leo effortlessly broke his hexagram.
