Leo held the Judge’s Brush in his right hand and pressed his left hand against the talismans, chanting a spell under his breath.
The Judge’s Brush began to draw in mid-air, and with each stroke, the talismans glowed brighter. Leo continued to chant as he drew nine large golden characters that floated above the woman’s body, “Approach!”
“Soldiers!”
“Fight!”
“Warriors!”
“All!”
“Formation!”
“Array!”
“Advance!” and finally, “March!”
The Nine-Character Mantra was known for its power to repel evil spirits and attack them.
As Leo continued his movements, the nine golden characters appeared one by one inside the room. They spun slowly over the woman’s body as they emitted a holy aura.
A terrifying moan filled the room – not like a baby crying but more like an owl screeching in agony.
Without hesitation, Leo swung down with his pen. The character for ‘approach’ flew into one of Talismans on her stomach.
Suddenly, she opened her eyes – they were completely black – and her face was covered in a thin layer of dark energy.
She let out a piercing scream that frightened Angus standing outside so much that Eric had to hold him back from rushing inside.
But even if Eric hadn’t stopped him, Angus wouldn’t have been able to enter anyway.
Leo had long anticipated that the woman’s condition during the spell would cause Angus to lose control. Therefore, he had set up a prohibition at the door, like an invisible glass, separating the inside from the outside.
The woman’s screams did not make Leo pause, and he swung the Judge’s Brush in his hand again. The character “Warriors” also received some kind of command, quickly shrinking and swiftly drilling into the woman’s brow.
With the entrance of the character “Warriors,” the woman’s screams abruptly stopped, as if the paused music had been pressed play again.
Although the screams had ceased, the woman on the sickbed began to convulse. The black aura on her face was gone, but her complexion turned pale and alarming, and she began foaming at the mouth.
Outside the door, Angus tightly gripped the doorframe. Tears welled up in his eyes, and his face twisted in agony, truly beyond description.
To see his beloved wife in such a state was more painful and distressing than plunging a knife into his heart.
Undoubtedly, the cause of the woman’s condition was the Sinister Infant.
The Sinister Infant intended to control the host’s life and death, making Leo wary.
Leo consecutively tapped the Judge’s Brush four times. The characters rushed into the woman’s hands and feet from different directions.
The convulsions of the woman stopped, her complexion lightened, and she no longer foamed at the mouth.
In mid-air, only three characters slowly rotated. Leo put down the Judge’s Brush, turned around, and looked towards the door. With a wave of his right hand, he lifted the prohibition at the entrance. His expression solemn, he said, “Mr. Booth, come in with a bowl.”
Angus walked in with a bowl as instructed, his gaze anxiously fixed on his wife.
Leo knew his worries and reassured him, “Mr. Booth, rest assured, your wife is not in immediate danger. Whether we can save your wife next depends on you.”
“Depends on me?” Angus was puzzled by this, “Dr. Bloomer, what can I do?”
“Give me the bowl.”
Leo took the bowl from his hand and placed it in front of the black cat inside the cage.
The black cat let out a cry and moved back.
“Mr. Booth, next, you need to kneel in front of this black cat and keep your eyes fixed on it until your gaze meets its.”
Leo had just finished speaking when Angus almost hesitated, immediately kneeling down and staring intently at the black cat in the cage.
Leo took out two talismans from his body, affixing one to the top of the cage containing the black cat, and the other on Angus’s back.
“Mr. Booth, you need to make eye contact with the black cat and make it shed tears into the bowl,” Leo said.
At that moment, the woman on the sickbed spoke, her voice filled with wickedness. “You brat, are you sure you want to do this? You will regret it for sure!”
The threatening and malicious voice made Angus, who was kneeling on the ground, feel a chill on his scalp. He couldn’t help but turn his head towards the source of the sound.
“Mr. Booth, focus your mind, pay no attention to anything that happens or anything you hear. All you need to do is make the black cat shed tears. This is the key to saving your wife!” Leo reminded him.
Upon Leo’s reminder, Angus quickly turned his head back and stared directly at the black cat in the cage.
The black cat in the cage became somewhat restless, moving here and there, occasionally extending its claws to touch the bowl in front of it, but it deliberately avoided making eye contact with Angus.
Angus, kneeling on the ground, saw this and grew anxious, wishing he could take the black cat out of the cage and make it look at him.
Leo looked at the woman on the bed and sneered. “Evil creatures are evil creatures after all. No matter how wicked you are, you cannot escape the cycle of karma and retribution.”
“Since ancient times, good always triumphs over evil. I advise you to dissipate on your own, or else don’t blame me for not showing mercy!”
“Just you? You’re overestimating yourself!” The wicked voice was disdainful of Leo’s words.
Currently, Leo was not actually conversing with the Sinister Infant inside the woman’s belly, but rather with the Demon Cultivator who had planted the Sinister Infant in her.
Before the Sinister Infant took shape, it did not have independent consciousness. The Demon Cultivator could use it to perceive the outside world and control the host’s body.
Due to the effect of the talismans, Angus and the black cat quickly made eye contact.
The man and the cat stared at each other, appearing quite strange.
The Demon Cultivator sensed this situation through the Sinister Infant and a black aura resembling a venomous snake emerged from the woman’s mouth, aimed directly at Angus who was kneeling on the ground.
However, before the black aura could reach Angus, one of the golden characters in mid-air shot out a golden light and dispersed it.
The wicked voice let out two cold laughs and resentfully said, “Very well, I will make you regret your actions today!”
As for Angus and the black cat, their eyes underwent a transformation.
Angus’s eyes turned into a pair of black cat eyes, while the black cat’s eyes turned into a pair of human eyes.
On the black cat’s face were a pair of eyes filled with sadness and compassion. Slowly, tears welled up in those eyes, and then tears began to flow from the corners and dropped into the bowl beneath the black cat’s head.
In total, nine drops of tears fell.
