“Hey, Amaya!” Karen waved and greeted with a smile as she approached.
Amaya’s face lit up with a smile, and the braces on her teeth were slightly revealed.
“Amaya, you just arrived in Langstel and invited us to dine at Moon Palace. I’m impressed,” Karen teased with a smile.
Although Karen came from a well-off family and was involved in business herself, she had only been to Moon Palace once before. The reason wasn’t that the food wasn’t delicious; it was because the expenses were exorbitant, and without a VIP membership escort, entry was impossible.
In response to Karen’s playful comment, Amaya just smiled calmly, “It’s just a place to eat. If you like it, I can treat you to meals there every day!”
Karen suddenly widened her eyes, looking at Amaya with an expression of incomprehension and surprise. She then said, “Amaya, could it be that you’re a member of Moon Palace? Did you meet a tycoon?”
“Pfft, tycoon? They don’t catch my eye at all. Both you and Sophia are my closest friends, and when I treat you to a meal, I naturally choose the best place,” Amaya said matter-of-factly.
“Amaya, you’ve changed,” Karen intentionally put on a serious expression on her face.
“Changed? What do you mean?” A hint of panic flashed in Amaya’s eyes, wondering if Karen had discovered something.
“When we were studying, you were so frugal. Now, I feel like you’ve gone from luxury to decadence,” Karen remarked.
Amaya breathed a sigh of relief and couldn’t help but laugh, “Come on, that’s called enjoying wealth without forgetting the past.”
“Hey, how do you enjoy wealth, and how did you become wealthy? Spill the beans?” Karen, being curious, pried with raised eyebrows.
“My parents are in business, and our family is moderately well-off,” Amaya replied modestly.
This answer left Karen momentarily stunned. During their university days, Amaya’s plain attire and rural appearance led Karen and Sophia to assume that Amaya’s family wasn’t well-off. Because of this, Karen and Sophia secretly provided assistance to Amaya.
Now, it seemed all those acts of assistance were unnecessary.
“Amaya, I find it increasingly hard to figure you out,” Karen said, looking into Amaya’s eyes.
Amaya didn’t dodge Karen’s gaze, instead she smiled and took Karen’s arm. “Karen, don’t overthink it. The bond between Sophia, you and me is unbreakable. Nothing else matters.”
Karen was actually curious about Amaya’s family background but it seemed like Amaya wasn’t willing to share. As a good friend of Amaya’s, Karen wouldn’t force her to reveal anything she didn’t want to share. So for now, she pushed the thought aside and walked into Moon Palace with Amaya hand in hand.
The lobby manager responsible for welcoming guests immediately greeted them with a bow and a smile. “Miss McGuire, welcome! Your VIP room has been prepared for you already. Please follow me.”
Seeing the manager greet them so respectfully surprised Karen again.
She remembered that two years ago when she came here herself, this same manager was quite arrogant and only sent a receptionist to meet her.
Now he personally welcomed them as if treating his superior.
This situation made Karen even more curious about Amaya’s family background.
Led by the lobby manager they arrived at the door of their VIP room.
The lobby manager personally opened the door, then gestured towards it saying, “Miss McGuire, please enter inside; I hope you enjoy your meal at Moon Palace today.”
“Fergus,” said Amaya directly instructing him after entering inside, “When my two friends arrive later on, please arrange for waiters to serve us.”
“Of course Miss McGuire,” replied Fergus respectfully. “If there is anything you need, just let me know anytime.”
After Fergus left, Karen stared at Amaya in surprise asking, “Amaya tell me honestly what is your relationship with Moon Palace? The lobby manager personally greeted you so politely!”
“What kind of relationship could I have with Moon Palace?” replied an unconcerned Amaya, “I’m just here for dinner tonight. When I lived abroad, all those high-end restaurants’ managers treated their customers like this too.”
Karen still looked skeptical but joked around saying, “Amaya, if your family really has billions, then why did you settle overseas? To inherit all that wealth, right?”
“If that were true, then I would take both you and Sophia on trips around the world trying out every kind of food there is,” joked back an amused Amaya.
Outside the VIP room, a man wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses walked over. Fergus assumed he was Amaya’s friend and politely asked, “Excuse me, are you Miss McGuire’s friend?” The man lowered his head slightly and made a sound of agreement.
Without suspicion, Fergus pushed open the door to the room and the man quickly walked in. Of course, to avoid any misunderstandings, Fergus followed him inside.
Karen and Amaya were chatting when they saw an unfamiliar man walk into their room. They both froze for a moment before Amaya looked at Fergus behind him and asked, “Fergus, who is this?”
Amaya’s question instantly petrified Fergus. It turned out that this person was not Amaya’s friend!
“Sir,” said Fergus quickly to the man. “I’m sorry but you’ve entered the wrong room.”
The man snorted coldly then turned his head to glare fiercely at Fergus saying, “Get out of here!”
Fergus changed color, “Sir…”
“Bang!”
Before Fergus could finish speaking, he was kicked away by the stranger.
This scene really scared Karen and Amaya.
“Who are you? What do you want!?” shouted Amaya loudly.
The stranger took off his sunglasses with an evil smile on his face as he said, “Miss McGuire, we meet again; do you remember me?”
“It’s you!” exclaimed Amaya taking two steps back in fear.
It was no wonder she was frightened because she had seen Hayden injure this person then throw him down from a cliff in Northern Desolation Mountains but now this person seemed unharmed at all!
Vincent continued with an evil grin, “Last time there was that old guy protecting you, but today no one will come save you.”
Vincent stepped closer towards her while Karen regained her senses immediately. She stood in front of her warning Vincent sternly saying, “If you dare hurt my friend, I promise Leo will make sure your death is very painful!”
“I know that useless waste will come soon so today I came specifically to take care of him! You better get lost or else I’ll kill both of ya!” Vincent angrily shouted at Karen.
