“That place is indeed haunted. I work in real estate, and I bought that piece of land last month. However, just a week ago, before any construction started, someone died in Unlit Alley. As far as I know, this is the eighth person who has died there.” Aidan said.
Leo, not concerned about why Aidan bought a haunted piece of land, expressed his confusion, “Have the police investigated the matter? It’s possible that there are murders, and the perpetrator is using the haunting as a cover.”
Aidan sighed and shook his head, “The police have already investigated. There are no signs of homicide in the deaths. They are completely mysterious.”
“The city government hopes that after I take over the land, I will completely demolish and redevelop it. Perhaps, after such changes, those strange death incidents won’t happen again.”
Speaking to this point, Aidan took a sip of tea, moistening his throat, “That piece of land is indeed valuable, but I believe in geomancy. I understand that if strange things like this are not handled properly and construction begins recklessly, the consequences can be unpredictable. So, this matter has concerned me.”
Leo smiled, “With you saying that, I really want to go and see Unlit Alley. We’ve eaten, and there’s no time to waste. Take me there now.”
After settling the bill, Aidan took Leo to “Screw Top,” Unlit Alley.
“Screw Top” actually means “piling corpses and topping.” During the war, this was the largest slaughterhouse, with layers of bodies piled up to the roof.
“Screw Top” and several alleys like “Mutton Alley” intertwined complexly. According to information Aidan gathered, streetlights couldn’t be installed here. If one was installed, it would go out the next day, either smashed by someone or mysteriously extinguished.
Energy-saving light bulbs were taken down intact, but the electronic components inside were completely damaged. Later, no one dared to install new lights.
“Even flashlights will inexplicably go out in the alley. Any electrically powered items can’t be used in the alley at night. Motorcycles and electric bikes have to be pushed. People nearby generally don’t come out at night. So, if you encounter someone in the alley at night, it might not necessarily be a person…” The driver’s tone carried a sense of fear.
Aidan looked at Leo’s expression, seeing his indifferent look, feeling somewhat relieved, and shared another piece of information, “It is said that the police once sent an expert team to investigate here, but those who went in…”
“What happened to them?” Leo had a bad premonition.
“They all died. After the three members of the expert team entered, they didn’t obtain any useful information. Within three days of coming out, all three of them died in their homes for no apparent reason. There were no signs of murder, all died mysteriously!”
The car stopped at the entrance of Unlit Alley. The driver’s face was stern, showing some nervousness. Clearly, he didn’t dare to drive in, and Leo didn’t intend to let him. Dealing with supernatural things is better done alone.
Unlit Alley was unusually quiet around it, with no pedestrians passing by. The surroundings were filled with an eerie atmosphere.
“Mr. Walkley, you wait here. I’ll go in and take a look.” Leo opened the car door.
“Dr. Bloomer, take care of yourself.” Aidan didn’t say much. After all, he invited Leo here to solve the problem.
After Leo left, the driver let out a long sigh and couldn’t help asking, “Mr. Walkley, can this young man really eliminate evil spirits?”
Aidan remained silent, his eyes watching the direction where Leo disappeared, nodding in acknowledgment.
Approaching the entrance of the alley, Leo didn’t hesitate and stepped into the infamous Unlit Alley, which instilled fear in those who heard about it!
It was an eerily quiet alley, and as Leo ventured further, a chilling breeze greeted him. The atmosphere was unsettling, making Leo tighten his clothes against the cold.
Walking deeper into the alley, Leo started feeling increasingly uncomfortable. Before entering, he had no particular feelings or fear of the unknown. But once inside, the fear became palpable, beyond his control.
Stabilizing his mind and regardless of the potential danger, he activated his spiritual protection and continued forward. He was curious to see what lay at the end of this alley and what caused the mysterious deaths of those who entered.
As Leo progressed, the mist thickened. Looking ahead, he couldn’t discern the surroundings clearly, prompting him to involuntarily halt. Just as he stopped, he vaguely saw a figure within the mist – a white silhouette!
“Honey…” A hauntingly soft female voice echoed in this dim and silent alley. Hearing this somewhat mournful and plaintive voice, Leo involuntarily shivered.
“My husband…”
The mournful, plaintive voice with a touch of warmth called out again, resonating clearly in Leo’s ears, as if a woman were whispering softly to him. The voice trembled through every nerve in his body.
As the thin fog dissipated, a melancholic and beautiful woman appeared before him. She wore an elegant white silk dress, resembling a beautiful swan.
Looking at her attire, Leo couldn’t help but be intrigued because he had only seen such clothes in ancient costume dramas.
“Honey, you’ve finally returned. Alicia has been waiting for you patiently. Alicia is so happy to see you again.” The woman’s mournful words turned excited, and her tone, though filled with a hint of tears, couldn’t hide her joy. After saying this, she suddenly rushed towards Leo.
Leo was momentarily stunned, then immediately stepped back.
“Honey, what’s wrong? Don’t you like Alicia anymore?” The woman’s eyes were filled with tears, wearing an expression of melancholy.
This appearance was truly pitiable.
“Miss, you’ve mistaken me for someone else. I don’t know you, and I am not your husband.” Leo waved his hands in denial, realizing that this woman was not in her right mind.
Upon hearing Leo’s words, the woman burst into tears, sobbing uncontrollably. Her crying and tearful appearance made Leo feel a sense of discomfort.
“Honey, are you abandoning me? What did I do wrong? Why are you so heartless?” The woman’s eyes, filled with pain and despair, stared at Leo.
“Miss, I really am not your husband. My name is Leo, and we have never met. I don’t know you.” Although Leo realized that something was off with this woman, he couldn’t help but say these words.
“Honey, what’s wrong with you? Your name is Leo! Could you be suffering from amnesia?” The woman looked at him with confusion, her beautiful face showing concern.
