“Absolutely lawless and unfair! You make them wait; I’m coming over right now!” Darren hung up the phone in a huff.
Elettra tossed her phone to her assistant, dropped her hand from her cheek, and her face resumed its arrogant and domineering expression. “You two, just you wait. Mr. Hansom will be here in no time!”
“Watch me tear that filthy mouth of yours!” Rosemary’s anger flared up again. She took two steps forward, aiming to slap Elettra once more.
Rafferty hurried over and restrained Rosemary, urging, “Boss Fanny, for my sake, don’t stoop to Elettra’s level. Let’s wait for Mr. Hansom to arrive.”
Rafferty was feeling truly downcast. As a director, he couldn’t afford to be embroiled in such a situation. After years of hard work in Langstel, he had finally secured the position of assistant director. If Elettra badmouthed him in front of Darren, there was no doubt that Darren would immediately replace him.
Rosemary didn’t want to trouble Rafferty. She suppressed her anger and lowered her hand.
“Rafferty, if you want to continue as a director, then help me slap this woman!” Elettra ordered Rafferty imperiously.
Rafferty didn’t dare to hit Rosemary. He turned to Elettra with a wry smile. “Elettra, please don’t put me in a difficult position.”
“Don’t be ridiculous! Am I making things difficult for you? I’m giving you an order!” Elettra acted all high and mighty.
Elettra’s attitude riled Rafferty. “Elettra, don’t push it too far.”
“So what if I do? Do you, as a director, still want to continue?” Elettra threatened.
Rafferty shrugged, indifferent. “If not, then not.”
Suddenly, Leo interjected, “Rafferty, don’t worry. When Mr. Hansom arrives, I’ll speak up for you. You can continue as a director, while certain individuals might find themselves blacklisted from the entertainment industry.”
Glancing at Leo, Rafferty forced a smile. “Mr. Bloomer, please don’t mock me. Mr. Hansom isn’t someone who can be easily persuaded, and you just…” Rafferty didn’t finish his sentence. In his view, Leo was just an impulsive young man with some money, daring even to reprimand the artists under the Hansom Group’s entertainment company. He seemed to lack a sense of propriety.
While waiting for Darren’s arrival, Elettra’s assistant and manager began contacting the company’s legal team, preparing to sue Leo and Rosemary for a significant amount in compensation.
Rosemary naturally wasn’t going to sit idly by. She took her bag, retrieved her phone, and was about to make a call using her connections.
Leo, however, held her hand, stopping her from dialing. “No need to make a call. Just take a breather; we’ll wait for Darren.”
Seeing Leo’s confident and composed expression, Rosemary couldn’t help but be astonished.
After all, Darren wasn’t someone to be trifled with in Langstel. Where did Leo get this confidence from? Did he know Darren?
Unbeknownst to Rosemary, not only did Leo know Darren, but he had also saved Darren’s daughter.
Before long, Darren arrived with five or six bodyguards.
“Who dares to act recklessly on my turf?” Darren’s voice rang out with a cold rebuke.
Hearing Darren’s voice, Rafferty involuntarily tensed, and the other staff in the studio fell silent.
Elettra quickly walked up to Darren, wearing a pitiful expression. “Mr. Hansom, it’s these two who attacked me. Look, they’ve ruined my beautiful face. I probably won’t be able to act for some time!”
In front of Darren, Elettra knew how to play the part of a helpless woman, with a face that seemed on the verge of tears.
“Hmph, audacious enough to even lay a hand on my woman…” Darren snorted and then, following Elettra’s gesture, he looked over and recognized Leo. “Dr. Bloomer!” He paused, then exclaimed.
Leo’s face displayed a sly smile. “Mr. Hansom, long time no see. I trust you’ve been well.”
“Dr. Bloomer, what a coincidence. I was planning to personally visit your clinic to express my gratitude!” Darren quickly approached and warmly shook Leo’s hand.
This scene left everyone in the studio gaping. They never expected Darren to know Leo, let alone be so familiar with him.
Rosemary was only slightly surprised and soon understood. Given Leo’s miraculous medical skills and capabilities, it was quitenormal for him to know Darren.
Rafferty’s gloomy mood evaporated. Remembering Leo’s words from earlier, he felt a sense of relief and joy.
Elettra’s face turned increasingly woeful. She couldn’t fathom the situation. This turn of events left her with a feeling akin to eating a bitter pill.
Undeterred, Elettra believed that with her relationship with Darren, even if Darren and Leo were acquainted, Darren would still stand by her. After all, she could generate wealth for Darren.
With this in mind, Elettra approached Darren, wearing a pitiful expression. “Mr. Hansom, so this person is your friend. But even if he is, shouldn’t he refrain from violence? Look at my face; it’s in this condition. I probably won’t be able to film tomorrow.”
Darren paid her no attention. Instead, he turned to Rafferty and asked, “Tell me, what exactly happened?”
Rafferty promptly recounted the entire incident to Darren.
After listening, Darren didn’t hesitate. He swiftly delivered a slap to the side of Elettra’s face that hadn’t been struck.
Elettra didn’t anticipate Darren striking her. She was left dumbfounded, staring at him with an incredulous and bewildered look.
After the slap, Darren couldn’t help but curse, “What nonsense, daring to throw your weight around in front of Dr. Bloomer!”
“This kind of artist with no moral compass is of no use. Fire her immediately, and inform the entertainment industry to blacklist her!” Darren commanded in a cold tone.
Darren’s words left Elettra collapsed on the ground in shock.
To be blacklisted meant that from that day forward, Elettra wouldn’t be able to act or sing. Her once-promising career had come to a complete end.
This outcome validated the saying: “Play with fire and you will get burned.”
After coming to her senses, Elettra hurriedly approached Darren, reaching out and grasping his leg, pleading desperately, “Mr. Hansom, you can’t do this to me. I know I was wrong. Please, give me another chance.”
