Chapter 731: Cunning

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-6-3

Those who came to watch the car race were all scions of the privileged and wealthy in the capital. They were well aware that as satisfying as Leo’s slap had been, it would come at a painful cost.
What had happened was already water under the bridge. With one slap, however, all past grievances resurfaced.
“Why did you hit me, Leo?” Maniwa Koken’s reaction was unexpected by everyone.
After the initial shock and confusion, Maniwa Koken did not incite others to attack Leo. Instead, she took a deep breath and calmly fixed her beautiful eyes on Leo, asking, “Leo, why did you hit me?”
This demonstrated the immense psychological resilience of Maniwa Koken, the eldest daughter of the Koken family.
Leo stared into Maniwa Koken’s eyes and sneered, “Miss Koken, your subordinate laid hands on me. As the host, shouldn’t you take responsibility?”
Maniwa Koken’s normally composed facial muscles twitched slightly as she gazed at Leo, her eyes betraying a mix of complex emotions.
At this moment, Leo gave her a sense of being extraordinarily different.
Having met and known many second-generation individuals in this country, Maniwa Koken was used to sycophantic behavior from them. If someone had told her before today that a person from this country would dare to slap her, she would probably have laughed as if hearing an amusing joke.
Yet, here was this individual who had slapped her.
There were only two possible explanations: either this individual named Leo was foolhardy and ignorant, or he had something to rely on, daring to disregard the Koken family.
Hiroto Ieshige, who was clutching his groin, finally stood up from the ground, his face filled with a menacing glare as he laughed maniacally at Leo, “You despicable pig! How dare you slap Miss Koken! Don’t you know she is the granddaughter of Koken Yafu, the helmsman of the mighty Koken family? You’re finished!”
“Smack!” Another crisp sound of a slap echoed through the air.
The slap was delivered not by Leo but by Maniwa Koken onto Hiroto Ieshige’s face. As a member of the Koken family, the slap from Leo had been an immense humiliation for her.
Unable to vent her anger on Leo, the fury in her heart was redirected towards Hiroto Ieshige.
Under Maniwa Koken’s almost full strength, one side of Hiroto Ieshige’s face swelled conspicuously, leaving him thoroughly dazed.
“Mr. Ieshige, mind your tone and language,” Maniwa Koken coldly reprimanded.
In Maniwa Koken’s eyes, Hiroto Ieshige was simply a fool.
Sakai Kina was no match for Leo, thus the current situation confirmed an old saying in this country: “When under someone’s roof, one has to lower their head.”
Even if vengeance was to be sought, it would be better to do so after returning home. To openly declare it now would be dangerous, especially if it provoked this terrifying individual from the country.
Despite being slapped, Hiroto Ieshige dared not express any dissatisfaction. He stood before Maniwa Koken, nodding and bowing, “Hai!”
Since he had chosen to yield, he did so completely. Standing in front of Leo, Maniwa Koken bent at a ninety-degree angle and apologized, “Leo, I’m sorry. It’s all my fault. I apologize to you sincerely. Additionally, Hiroto Ieshige lost in the race and was disrespectful to you. I apologize on his behalf as well.”
Maniwa Koken’s attitude and response made Leo’s gaze grow serious.
The woman’s cunning and depth of calculation were truly terrifying.
With Maniwa Koken’s actions, Leo knew that it was nearly over. He spoke coldly, “This time, I’ll spare you. I advise you, it’s best not to think of retaliating against me. Otherwise, I will make your Koken family disappear from this world!”
Leo’s words seemed to carry an unquestionable power. Even with Maniwa Koken’s composure and cunning, her expression changed upon hearing them.
It was the first time in her life that she had heard someone dare to speak of making the Koken family disappear from the world with such arrogance.
This detestable individual from the country might be formidable, but attempting to target the entire Koken family was akin to a mantis trying to stop a chariot. It was laughable!
Maniwa Koken took a deep breath, adjusted her mindset, and once again bent slightly before Leo, “Leo, you are formidable. I will remember you. Farewell!”
After saying this, Maniwa Koken decisively turned away. In that moment, a glint of icy resolve flashed in hereyes.
Watching Maniwa Koken depart, Leo knew that this woman would not simply let things be.
Leo felt no fear whatsoever. He had already warned this woman, and if she insisted on seeking revenge, Leo didn’t mind making her and her family pay a painful price.
Maniwa Koken, Sakai Kina, and Hiroto Ieshige boarded a Mercedes-Benz and left Longying Mountain.
Irene approached Leo with a rueful expression, “Leo, I’m sorry. If it weren’t for my sister and me goading you into the race with Mark Lynch, you wouldn’t have provoked Maniwa Koken.”
Irene understood people’s characters well. They might outwardly show respect and politeness, but deep down, they could be narrow-minded and malicious.
Offending Maniwa Koken meant stirring up trouble with the Koken family, and Leo would definitely face repercussions in the future.
Leo, however, nonchalantly shook his head. His words to Maniwa Koken were not an exaggeration. If the Koken family didn’t wise up, he wouldn’t mind personally visiting their island country to teach them that there were certain people one shouldn’t provoke.
Michelle also approached, looking at Leo and clenching her fists, “Leo, don’t worry. If that woman and her family dare to retaliate against you, both my sister and I, along with the Leighton family, will stand by you!”
Leo smiled and nodded, then turned to Mark Lynch, “Mark, it’s time for you to fulfill our bet.”
Upon hearing Leo’s words, Mark Lynch, who had remained silent, darkened visibly.
Though he had lost the race, he was truly unwilling to hand over the transfer contract for the Ice Spirit Sakura Breeding Base.
The Ice Spirit Sakura Breeding Base was not only immensely valuable but also a symbol of his ability to enjoy life and pursue romantic interests in the capital.
Mark Lynch couldn’t help but look at the elderly man in the gray robe who had come with him. The man understood Mark Lynch’s intention and, after some consideration, shook his head.
As someone who could injure a top ninja of the Fire, the gray-robed elder knew he was not a match. Engaging in conflict in a situation where the enemy was stronger was not a wise choice.
Seeing Mark Lynch’s reluctant expression, Irene frowned and asked, “Mark Lynch, as a man, in front of so many people in the racing circle, you wouldn’t renege on your word, would you?”
