“Uncle, Aunt, hello,” Leo smiled and greeted.
Edwina chuckled and pulled Leo over. “Come closer, let Auntie-no, I should say, let your sis, have a good look at you.”
“Sis?” Leo’s mouth twitched.
Madame Godwin’s mother seemed a bit peculiar.
“Mom, can you stop pretending to be young? He’s your daughter’s boyfriend. Is it appropriate to call yourself his sister?” Madame Godwin had a dark line on her forehead.
“What’s wrong? Do you think I’m old? Look at appearances. I’m almost the same age as you.” Edwina rolled her eyes at Madame Godwin.
Madame Godwin was speechless. With so many people around, she didn’t want to argue with Edwina.
“Oh, young man, not bad, quite handsome,” Edwina said, staring at Leo.
Leo wasn’t thick-skinned. With Edwina’s comment, he couldn’t help but feel a bit embarrassed.
“Oh, shy too, haha.” Leo’s expression amused Edwina. “Madame Godwin said your name is Leo, right? You’ve done me a big favor. Madame Godwin finally has a boyfriend. She has never had one before, and I was worried she might be into girls.”
Leo, Madame Godwin, and even Marsh on the side all had a black line on their foreheads.
Blair on the side was silently screaming in his heart: I’m willing to help with that favor too! Unfortunately, Madame Godwin didn’t choose him.
While they were talking, another couple in luxurious attire approached, accompanied by a brother and sister.
“Leo, the people coming over are my uncle and aunt. Behind them, one is my cousin Paul, and the other is my cousin Elva. Be careful, they are not easy to deal with,” Madame Godwin whispered to Leo.
Leo nodded and glanced at Madame Godwin’s uncle and aunt.
Her aunt had a proud face. When she looked at Madame Godwin’s family of three, there was a hint of subtle resentment in her eyes.
It seemed that, like many large families, there were internal conflicts within the Godwin family.
Where there were benefits, there were disputes. The conflicts between the legitimate siblings were mostly for a more favorable distribution of family resources and the position of leading the next generation of the family.
In the Godwin family, Old Mr. Godwin had three sons and a daughter. The eldest, Herbert, and the second son, Marsh, were in politics, while the third son was in business. The youngest daughter was Joshua’s mother.
Madame Godwin’s uncle Herbert was currently a deputy department-level official, and her father Marsh was the head of the public security department, wielding considerable power.
Therefore, the second generation of the Godwin family was vaguely led by Marsh, and the people from Herbert’s line naturally felt dissatisfied.
In large families, although there might be grievances, when facing external enemies, they would still unite. After all, in the end, they were all family, sharing honor and disgrace.
As the protagonist of today, Old Mr. Godwin, was about to appear, Herbert and Marsh, as the eldest and second sons of Old Mr. Godwin, had to accompany the old man according to etiquette.
Therefore, after greeting everyone, Herbert and Marsh, together with the others, went to the inner room.
Seeing Leo for the first time, Truda, Madame Godwin’s aunt, seemed to have just noticed him. She looked him up and down disdainfully and asked, “Young man, you seem very unfamiliar. Which prestigious family are you from?” Truda had no impression of Leo. Although she asked this on the surface, in her heart, she had already concluded that he must not come from a prominent family.
Truda’s tone made Leo frown. He replied nonchalantly, “I’m not from Beijing; I’m from Langstel.”
Hearing that Leo was from Langstel, a hint of disdain appeared in Truda’s eyes. “Oh, Langstel? I’ve heard of it but never been there. What do your parents do?” Truda asked Leo with an arrogant expression.
The sudden disappearance of his parents had always been a pain in Leo’s heart. Truda’s probing words caused Leo’s expression to turn cold. “What my parents do is none of your business.”
Truda was momentarily stunned. She hadn’t expected Leo to throw a displeased look at her.
“Young man, your attitude isn’t commendable. I am Amelia’s aunt. Since you’re her boyfriend, I will be your future aunt. I’m just trying to understand your family background,” Truda said with an educative tone as her expression turned stern.
Truda seemed to have figured out that Madame Godwin’s boyfriend probably didn’t have much background and was just good-looking.
Seeing Leo’s silence, Truda turned to Madame Godwin and said, “Madame Godwin, about your boyfriend, well! In our Godwin family, although we may not be as prestigious as the top families, we are still a first-class family. Your future husband should come from a comparable background. Ordinary people cannot match up to you.”
Truda adopted the posture of an elder while advising Madame Godwin.
Before Madame Godwin could speak, Edwina, who stood on the side, was dissatisfied and retorted, “Truda, my daughter’s choice of a boyfriend is none of your concern. I think you should worry more about your own daughter and not ruin her happiness.”
Truda’s daughter, Elva, was of similar age to Madame Godwin. In her efforts to associate with the wealthy Warner family, Truda had gone to great lengths to make Elva the girlfriend of the Warner family’s eldest son.
There was a humorous incident during this endeavor. Truda heard that the Warner family’s eldest son liked plump girls. However, Elva was too thin. So, Truda made Elva eat excessively every day for six months, causing Elva’s weight to skyrocket.
After Elva successfully became a plump girl, Truda tried to match her with the Warner family’s eldest son. However, it turned out to be a futile effort, as he wasn’t interested in Elva at all.
After this incident, Elva’s weight not only didn’t decrease but continued to increase, making other eligible suitors who had previously been interested in her reluctant.
Edwina referred to this incident in her retort.
Exposed, Truda’s face turned blue and white alternately. She snorted, “Edwina, when Dad comes out, it will be time for a birthday tribute!”
“At that time, I hope your future son-in-law, who appeared out of nowhere, can present something impressive. Otherwise, if he brings disgrace to the Godwin family and upsets Old Mr. Godwin, you know the consequences!”
Elva chimed in, “Amelia, ever since you went to work in Langstel, Grandpa has been most concerned about you. Today is Grandpa’s big birthday celebration, so you must show genuine filial piety.”
Just then, two people walked into the courtyard of the mansion, instantly drawing the attention of most people.
These two were none other than the Leighton family’s twin sisters, Michelle and Irene.
