Chapter 55 I missed you

Book:Fated for the Vampire Published:2024-5-1

Clara
I pull away from the kiss and look Damien in the eyes. I still can’t believe he is here. He came here to see me. I can’t get my hands off him. I feel like if I let go, he will slip away and I won’t be able to see him again.
“Are you alright, Clara? How are you?” he inquires from me while his eyes inspect my face.
“I am fine, Damien. I just miss you so much. I miss you a lot,” I tell him.
“I know, baby. I miss you more. That’s why I had to come here. To check on you,” he says and his lips find mine once more. I close my eyes and let him kiss me. I missed his lips: the way they gently slide over mine and though sometimes they can be possessive and a bit rough, I love all of it.
I am breathless when I pull away from the kiss. I want Damien to carry me in his arms and take out of here. I want him to take me his home. Where I belong. I am already tired of this party and I just want to go with him. I don’t care where he takes me as long as I am with him.
“I met, Emily, your friend. She told me that you aren’t feeling well. Are you sick?” he inquires from me. I gulp hard at his words. Should I tell him what the matter is? Should I really tell him that I am pregnant?
I am so nervous about how he might react. What if he doesn’t want to have this child? What if he is not ready to have children yet? What if he doesn’t want to have children at all?
I can’t tell him now. At least not here at this party. I don’t want his reaction to crash my heart infront of all these guests. I am too nervous to tell him.
“I just ate something here and my stomach didn’t like it,” I lie. Well, I didn’t totally lie to him. It is partially the truth. I guess the baby didn’t like the snacks they were serving during the party.
“Is that all? I am really worried about you, Clara. I don’t want our current situation to affect your health in any way. I am really sorry if the these previous days have been hard for you,” he says while brushing his thumb over my lips.
“I am fine. I promise. I want to stay strong for us,” I tell him. Jeez… Why is it so hard for me to lie to him? It is as if he can see through my lies.
“Do want to talk outside? Do you feel uncomfortable talking from here?” he asks me and I nod, yes.
“Okay,” he responds and then holds my hand. He leads me through the crowd of guests as we head outside. My only prayer is that father doesn’t see us because if he does, he might ruin this sweet moment with Damien. I don’t want any interruption because I am well aware of the fact that this is shortlived and I want to make the most of it.
We manage to get out of the house without being noticed. Damien leads me to a less crowded space towards the woods. I guess all packs have woods surrounding them.
“Do you want to sit?” he inquires from me.
“No, I am okay,” I reply. I know Damien really cares so much about me and the situation between us is already complicated for us. I don’t know if keeping the pregnancy from him is a good or a bad idea. It is not like I am going to hide the pregnancy forever. My baby bump will start to show and everyone will know about it. I don’t want Damien to hear the news from anyone else but me.
“Something is bothering you, Clara. I can sense it. Tell me what the matter is. I might not be able to solve the problem right now but I might find a way,” he says while looking at me with beseeching eyes. God! I can’t keep this from him. It is going to haunt me for the rest of the time until he finds out.
I can’t even lie. I love him so much, I don’t want to break him heart by keeping such an important thing from him. He has the right to know. I am ready to take in whatever his reaction will be.
“Baby,” he coaxes me. He keeps using that words and I feel very guilty about not telling him.
“Am pregnant,” I finally spill the beans. I couldn’t keep it in anymore. Damien is silent. He just stares at me like I have grown two heads. My heart hammers in my chest. Maybe I wasn’t loud enough, but that is very doubtable. I don’t want to believe what my head is assuming now. I can feel tears begin to well in my eyes.
“Damien,” I beg him to day something. Anything is better than the silent. I shouldn’t cry. I am just too emotional these days.
“Are you really sure about this?” he inquires from me, his eyes gazing into mine.
“Yes, I did a pregnancy test yesterday. It was positive,” I reply, trying hard not to stammer.
“Oh my god!” he exclaims, his face cracking into the brightest of smiles. He pulls me into his chest and kisses my neck. I let go of the breath that I have been holding in and kiss him back without demur.
“This is is such great news. This is the best thing that has happened to me, besides finding you,” he says, and I can’t help but grin at his reaction. This is what I wanted.
“I can’t believe this. We are going to be parents,” he says and pulls my lips between his. I haven’t gotten enough of his kisses. I want more and more of him.
“Is it the pregnancy that has been making you sickly?” he inquires.
“I think so,” I reply.
“Does anyone know about this?” he asks me.
“No, I wanted to tell you first,” I tell him and a self-satisfied smile spreads on his lips.
“Good girl,” he tells me. I can’t help butting my lip so that I purse my extremely big smile.
“Don’t bite your lip when we are here, Clara. You don’t know what you are doing to me right now,” he says while using his fingers to pull my lower lip from my teeth. He brushes his thumb over my lip and lowers his head so that hus lips can meet mine again. This time he is very gentle or me as his lips glide mine and his his tongue finds mine. I moan into his mouth and grab the collar of his shirt to pull him closer so that he doesn’t break away yet.
“Oh, baby. I wish I could take you home,” he murmurs against my lips.
“Take me. Please. I miss you so much Damien. It so hard living without you,” I tell him and he closes his eyes.
“Clara, I really want to take you home. This last week has been hell for me. It doesn’t feel like home when you are not there with me. I want you back,” he tells me. I raise my hand to touch his neck and he leads his face into my palm. He threads his fingers through mine.
“I don’t care what happens anymore, Damien. I want to be with you. I can’t live like this anymore. We are supposed to be together not apart. We are supposed to endure what comes our way when we are together. I can’t be away from you, anymore. And now with the baby, I crave you all the time,” I tell him. He sighs and then runs his hands through his hair.
“I can understand what you are going through, Clara. I want to take you away but I can’t take you from your father just like that. He has every right to keep you away from me,” he says.
“I know he is my father, but you are my mate. When you find your mate, he becomes your world, your life. You can do anything for him. You are my everything, Damien. I am ready to leave my father for you. My home is only when I am with you,” I tell him.
“But we are not married. I have no right to claim you,” he tells me.
“I am yours, Damien. You marked me as yours, remember? You claimed me as yours. You mated me and nothing should separate us. There is no need for marriage. That’s all that matters. I am yours now; wife, mate, girlfriend, partner, it’s all the same now,” I tell him and he pulls me into a bear hug.
“You are right, Clara. I am taking home. This is what I should have done from the very beginning,” he says, making me smile at his confidence. “Now that our baby is here, there is nothing that is going to stop us from being together.”
“Is there anyone you would like to say goodbye to before we go?” he asks me.
“Yes,” I reply with a nod.
“Who?” he asks me.
“Alpha Liam. I want to thank him and tell him that we are leaving,” I say and he gives me a small smile.
“Okay, I am coming with you,” he says while holding my hand once again.
Back in the house, the party is still going on. I just have to find Liam so that I can tell her where I am going. He might be able to tell father where I am when I have already gone.
We find him talking to some of his guests. He doesn’t have his Luna by his side. I guess she is also busy attending to the other guests. When he sees us approaching, he excuses himself from the guests and walks to us with a smile on his face.
“I see you finally found her,” he says to Damien and then looks at me.
“Do you feel better now?” he asks me with a raised eyebrow.
“Yes, thanks for everything,” I tell him.
“Don’t mention it. Unless you want me to ask for favours in return,” he says, making us laugh.
“It is just my pleasure to be able to help the two of my good friends,” he adds.
“We really appreciate you, Liam. You are a good friend indeed,” I tell him.
“Hey, what are friends for?” he says.
“We just came here to tell you that we are leaving,” Damien tells him.
“You should ahead. Don’t even think about looking back or even giving it a thought. Don’t worry about Alpha Fabian. I will tell him myself,” he says.
“That would be really nice if you,” I tell him and he waves good-bye to us. Damien quickly finds Raul, Katherine and Orpheus and we head out of the house.
