Koenigsegg is a Swedish supercar that epitomizes royal elegance, and the company is renowned for crafting high-speed vehicles. The emblem of Koenigsegg, resembling the Royal Air Force insignia, earned these cars the nickname “ghost supercars.”
Seated in both the driver and passenger seats were women, identical twins in appearance but distinct in temperament. The one in the passenger seat, Michelle Leighton, appeared cute and lively, while the one driving, Irene Leighton, seemed somewhat aloof.
Yes, Koenigsegg harbored a pair of identical twin sisters.
Seated in the passenger seat was the younger sister, Michelle Leighton. Irene Leighton, her older sister, took the wheel. Michelle playfully made a face at Silber and then looked at Irene, teasing, “Sis, let’s speed up and leave that fool Mark Lynch behind!”
Irene nodded slightly, applying pressure to the accelerator with her right foot. After a beastly roar echoed, Koenigsegg accelerated once more, surpassing Silber, who had been leading.
“Mark, sorry, but I’ll be ahead for now.” The Pagani supercar, previously in third place, also surged forward and overtook Silber.
Pagani, a relatively young brand founded in 1982, only officially released the Pagani Zonda series in 1999. With deep roots in Italy, just like Ferrari, Pagani hails from the famous supercar hub of Modena.
The brand’s cars are renowned for their handcrafted excellence and are not only known for world-class craftsmanship but also for being extremely rare. Each order comes at a staggering price, making it nearly impossible for many to afford, even if they have the money.
Being overtaken successively by Koenigsegg and Pagani, Mark Lynch felt a bit embarrassed.
“Humph, daring to show off in front of me, you guys still have a long way to go!” Mark Lynch sneered, switching to a furious mode. Silber’s engine roared like a wild beast, and the speed increased once again.
For a moment, the three supercars engaged in an intense competition on the highway, with their speeds escalating.
Not long after, about a kilometer ahead, a sharp bend appeared.
Mark Lynch sneered, “Right at the bend, I’ll leave you all behind and let you experience the might of the King of Corners!”
Mark Lynch slightly reduced speed, utilizing the centripetal force of the bend. After a beautiful drift, he pulled ahead of Koenigsegg and Pagani, who were initially side by side.
Seeing her car being overtaken again, Michelle anxiously shouted, “You vile guy, sister, step on the gas, don’t let that guy win!”
Irene’s expression turned stern, and she said in a low voice, “Michelle, stop talking, buckle up!”
The stakes for this street race were two million, a considerable sum even for the affluent Irene sisters. They couldn’t easily give it away as Mark Lynch’s fund for wooing girls.
Up ahead, Leo was humming a tune, listening to the in-car music. Suddenly, the explosive roar of engines from behind drowned out the music playing on the Bugatti’s speakers.
Leo glanced at the rearview mirror and noticed three supercars, engaged in a fierce competition, one chasing the other. It was apparent that the second generation was street racing.
This highway seemed to be recently constructed and opened, with few vehicles on the road. Additionally, it featured five lanes, providing ample space for racing. With no speed-monitoring devices activated yet, it was indeed conducive to street racing.
“I can’t believe it, there’s a limited edition Bugatti La Voiture Noire up ahead! But why is it moving as slow as a snail? Must be a lady driver, huh?” Mark Lynch teased.
Just as Mark Lynch finished his sentence, the Bugatti in front suddenly accelerated, immediately creating a gap between it and Mark Lynch’s Silber.
This caught Mark Lynch, who was ready to accelerate past the Bugatti, off guard for a moment.
“Oh, challenging me?” Mark Lynch, always unwilling to admit defeat, was stirred up by the Bugatti’s acceleration. He immediately squeezed more performance out of Silber.
Koenigsegg and Pagani closely trailed behind Silber.
“Sis, look ahead! A Bugatti has joined our street racing crew!” Michelle, always the adventurous one, became somewhat excited at the sudden addition.
Irene, more composed, replied, “Even Mark Lynch can’t surpass him. The guy driving the Bugatti has some decent skills.”
“Sis, there’s a series of bends ahead. We should slow down,” Michelle reminded.
About six or seven hundred meters ahead, a larger bend appeared. The signage indicated it was a reverse sharp bend, so Michelle gave an early warning.
Irene nodded. “Got it.”
The speed of Koenigsegg gradually decreased.
Though overtaking on a bend looked cool, it was also prone to accidents if not controlled properly. On this highway, once an accident occurred, it often meant the car would be wrecked, and lives could be lost.
Not only did Koenigsegg reduce speed, but Silber in front and Pagani behind also slowed down. Negotiating a reverse sharp bend wasn’t something non-professional drivers like them could easily handle.
Soon, Mark Lynch noticed something peculiar-the Bugatti in front wasn’t slowing down!
“What the… Bugatti is playing with its life! What a fool!” Amazed, Mark Lynch couldn’t help but curse.
As an experienced street racer, Mark Lynch knew one thing very well-winning or losing was important, but one’s life was even more crucial.
Face could be regained, but if life was lost, everything would be gone.
After witnessing the Bugatti not slowing down but instead accelerating into the bend, Mark Lynch knew that something was about to go wrong with the Bugatti.
Mark Lynch even estimated what would happen next in his mind-the Bugatti would be thrown out by the tremendous centrifugal force, hit the guardrail, then fly off the cliff and plunge into the rushing river below.
However, in the next second, Mark Lynch was stunned, his mouth agape, showing an expression of disbelief.
With a screeching sound of tires rubbing against the ground, the Bugatti executed a beautiful tail slide, a cool drift, and then miraculously sped out of the bend at a high speed.
After coming out of the bend, the Bugatti’s speed remained undiminished, like an arrow leaving the bow, leaving the three supercars behind by a considerable distance.
It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that when Mark Lynch and the others exited the bend, they could barely see the shadow of the Bugatti.
Michelle’s beautiful eyes sparkled with admiration. “That was amazing! The Bugatti just performed a rapid reverse drift!”
