After spending some good time thinking about lots of things, I decide to go back in the house. Fabian has been the biggest enemy in my entire life but I have managed to move in. I have been living peacefully for all these years. He wouldn’t dare show up here and cause a scene.
I find Victoria and Raul in the living room. I can’t spot Clara.
“Where is Clara?” I ask them.
“She has gone upstairs, I think,” Victoria replies.
“Okay,” I say and climb up the stairs.
I need to see her right now and talk to her. I hope those rascals didn’t scare her away. I need to see her and assure that everything is going to be fine. I need to hold her and tell her that there is nothing going to come between us as long as we are determined to stand strong for each other.
I open the door of the bedroom, and enter. The room feels so empty. There is something on the bed. I dash to the bed and find the dress she was putting on folded neatly. I have a bad feeling about this.
“Clara!” I call out while checking in the bathroom. I check every corner of the bathroom but she is no where to be seen.
No, no, no! Clara!
I check in the closet, though I highly doubt that she could be hiding in there. This is not good! Where could she be? Has she run away from me? But why? Is she scared? Did the situation between me and her father scare her off?
The bedroom window is open. I didn’t leave it open. Maybe she opened it when she woke up. Or she escaped through it! Damn this! Damn all of this shit!
I dash to check through the window, but she is already gone. I try to use my Auspex abilities but I can’t trace her. She must be long gone. She must have gone when I was busy cursing myself out there.
I walk down the stairs and find Victoria standing in the middle of the living room. She looks shocked to see me. I must be looking like a mess right now.
“What happened?” she asks me.
“She has left,” I reply.
“She has? Are you sure?” she inquires from me and I just nod in response.
“But when did she go? I’ve been in this room the whole time,” she says looking very confused.
“I don’t know. I found the dress she was putting on folded on the bed. She must have left in her wolf form. I think she has gone back to her home,” I tell her.
“Should we go look for her?” Raul inquires from behind me. I didn’t even know he was still here.
“No. If she left willingly, then you can’t force her to come back. It’s her choice. We can’t just go after her to Fabian’s territory. I don’t want to cause us any trouble with him,” I say.
“You’re right. She must have thought about it before leaving. Those Caitiffs! Always causing trouble!” Raul curses under his breath.
I can’t believe she just left without saying goodbye. We could have talked about this. Is she mad at me now after finding out that I am her father’s enemy?
Luther walks into the room. Luther first studies the situation with confusion.
“Clara left, Luther,” Victoria replies his unspoken question.
“She did?” he wonders with wide eyes. Yeah, even I still can’t believe it.
“I knew those rogues wouldn’t leave things normal!” he says.
“She left without a trace. We think she has gone back to her home,” she tells him.
“Maybe she just missed her home. But why did she just go without saying anything to anybody?” he says.
“There is nothing we can do about it. She has gone back home willingly.”
I excuse myself and go back outside. I know I might be overshooting but maybe she is still in the woods. Maybe she just wanted to have some time on her own. I look through the woods, but all in vain. I can nolonger smell her scent. It has faded away from me.
I spend the rest off the day absent minded. The girl has been in my life not even for a full day, but I feel like she has run away with a peace of me. I can nolonger understand myself. What has she done to me?
When the darkness starts taking over outside, the house becomes as busy as a beehive since everyone is wide awake. Raul, Orpheus and Amber are going out to feed. I haven’t fed for some days so I decide to go with them instead of sulking on the couch, moaning my loss.
Once out in the streets, Orpheus goes for a lady who is dressed in a really short red dress which fits her body like a second skin. I watch in amusement as he uses his powers to dominate her. She starts giggling in seconds and I see her willingly offering her neck to him.
I know Orpheus really loves his powers. Every human being offers themselves willingly to him since his powers allow him to override the will of his victim with that of his. Luther and five other vampires in our clan have that power to Dominate.
Orpheus bits the woman and feeds on her for only five seconds. When the five seconds end, he immediately pulls away. You don’t have to feed to your fill or you could drain your victim and kill them. That’s the rule.
“Her blood tastes good but I am sure I got a hint of alcohol in it,” Orpheus says while walking to us. The woman has walked away.
“But you still enjoyed it,” Raul teases him.
“Why not? She a lady, though she wouldn’t be as tasty as a virgin,” Orpheus says with a wiled grin.
“Cut it out, Orpheus. There aren’t any virgins left in this town. I think I should move to another town where I can get some nutritious blood,” Raul says.
“Well said, man. We could go somewhere with plenty of virgins,” Orpheus says dreamily.
“Will you too cut it out!” Amber yells, snapping them out of their idiotic dreams.
“Why are you snapping at us. Does the idea of virgins scratch you on the wrong side?” Raul teases her and she fumes. She immediately grabs Raul’s hand bending it behind him in a blink of an eye.
Amber has Celerity- supernatural speed and agility. All vampires are super fast, but let’s say Amber is abnormally super fast. She could race with a bullet. She can do something really quick, even with my Auspex abilities, I can’t catch up sometimes.
“Ahhh… Let me go!” Raul yelps in pain.
“Say that again and I will break this hand of yours,” she tells him.
“Am sorry okay?” he pleads and she let’s him go quickly and stands beside me, folding her hands infront of her chest, like nothing ever happened.
“Ah! You could have broken it!” Raul complains while massaging his arm.
“Luckily, I didn’t” she says.
I spot a young boy walking alone on the street. He seems to be around seventeen or eighteen years. He walks past us without noticing. He has earphones in his ears and the music is really loud. I dash to him and sink my fangs in his neck.
Only four seconds of feeding are enough. I seal where I have bitten him and stand aside. After feeding on our victims, they lose their memory about us. They can feel dizzy for some seconds and then continue with their normal lives.
“We should have gone in a bar or something and enjoy the rest of the night,” Raul says as we walk back home.
“Why don’t you go ahead then,” Amber yells him.
“It wouldn’t be fun without you guys around, ” Raul says.
“Can’t you live a day without getting yourself intoxicated for once in your life?” Amber asks Raul.
“Why does it matter to you if I get myself intoxicated or not? Are you concerned about me?” Raul asks her.
“In your dreams, Raul,” Amber says while rolling her eyes. Wherever these two are, the is always something they are arguing about. Raul likes teasing Amber, all the time. Amber doesn’t let Raul’s mistakes to just slip without her making a big deal out of them. They are like siblings. Always arguing about this and that.
As we walk through the last street back home, someone stands in the middle of the road, blocking away. Wait, they are two: a male and a female. According to their scent, I can tell that they are vampires. We approach them and they don’t get out of the way.
“What’s your problem?” Orpheus asks them.
“We are disciples from the Ventrue. The heads of the Ventrue have summoned for you,” the man says looking specifically at me. The Ventrue is the bigger union of all the vampire families in this region. It is one big vampire clan.
What would the leaders of the Ventrue want to see me for. Normally they meet vampires for heavy discipline Incase of misbehavior. Could this be related to Clara?
