Chapter 669: Courting with Flattery

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-6-3

“Ethan, didn’t you just say you know the big boss of this hotel? If she doesn’t give us a room, you should call the hotel owner and get this front desk girl fired!” Jessica took Ethan’s words quite seriously.
The front desk girl had been working at the hotel for five or six years, displaying a high level of professional ethics. Upon hearing Jessica’s words, she responded calmly, “Miss, even if you bring our big boss here, it won’t change anything. I’m just a small service staff. Please don’t make things difficult for me, and I hope you understand my job.”
Jessica, however, was a person who couldn’t be reasoned with. Seeing the front desk girl unaffected, she signaled Ethan.
Understanding Jessica’s signal, Ethan took out his phone, threatening, “Alright, if calling your big boss is what you want, just wait. You’ll be fired soon!”
The front desk girl merely looked at Ethan coldly, utterly unafraid.
“Who’s calling for me?”
Just then, a magnetic voice echoed. Looking in that direction, a man in casual attire with a hint of sophistication approached.
The front desk girl turned to the man and respectfully said, “Mr. Hemingway!”
The man who appeared was Lee Hemingway, the owner of Imperial Mountain Hotel.
Ethan was momentarily stunned by Lee Hemingway’s presence, feeling a bit uneasy.
When Lee Hemingway’s gaze shifted to Leo’s face, it lingered for three seconds.
Lee Hemingway was a smart man. Though he knew something had happened here, he deliberately asked the front desk girl, “What’s the problem?”
The front desk girl, finding her backbone, explained, “Mr. Hemingway, these guests want to stay, but our hotel rooms are full. I informed this lady and gentleman of the situation, but they insisted I give them two rooms, so…”
Lee Hemingway nodded, indicating he understood.
Jessica glanced at Lee Hemingway disdainfully, adopting a customer-is-always-right attitude, “Mr. Hemingway, right? The service attitude of your hotel staff is a bit lacking. Also, with such a big hotel, you surely can’t be without two rooms, can you?”
Lee Hemingway glanced at Leo again, then turned to the front desk girl, saying, “Guests have come from afar; we can’t turn them away. Open two VIP suites for them.”
“Mr. Hemingway, the VIP suites are already…”
The front desk girl’s words were cut off by Lee Hemingway, “Don’t babble; I told you to open them, so open them.”
“Alright.” Since the boss had spoken, the front desk girl stopped arguing.
With things taking an unexpected turn, Ethan thought Lee Hemingway was doing it for his sake. So, he couldn’t help but say, “Mr. Hemingway, thank you.”
Actually, Ethan’s claim of knowing Lee Hemingway was entirely fabricated.
Lee Hemingway gave Ethan a sidelong glance, showing no intention of acknowledging him.
Leo, who had noticed Lee Hemingway’s gaze earlier, quickly understood what was happening. He smiled at Lee Hemingway, saying, “Mr. Hemingway, thank you.”
Lee Hemingway immediately smiled back, replying, “No need to be polite. Let me take you to your rooms.”
The front desk girl couldn’t help but widen her eyes. It was the first time she had seen Lee Hemingway treat guests like this. Could it be that the man who spoke earlier really knew Lee Hemingway, or were these people Lee Hemingway’s relatives or friends?
With the hotel owner personally leading the way, Jessica felt wonderful beyond measure. Even walking, she felt a light and airy sensation, as if her own value had soared.
In the elevator, Lee Hemingway politely said, “During your stay, if there’s anything you need, feel free to let me know. Also, I’ll give you a fifty percent discount on the room rate.”
Ethan, currently unconcerned about room fees, was thinking about how to find an opportunity to administer the drug once Jessica and the others were in their rooms. Before squeezing the whereabouts of the five hundred thousand from them, he couldn’t let Jessica and her family step into the Gunter family.
Upon reaching the VIP suite, after Lee Hemingway made some polite arrangements, he left.
As expected of Green Spring City’s best hotel, coupled with it being a VIP suite, the facilities inside were comparable to a five-star hotel. Standing by the massive floor-to-ceiling window, one could even take in the entire Green Spring City.
Although Jessica was satisfied, her penchant for showing off got the better of her: “Even the VIP suite is nothing special. It’s far inferior to the Cloud Dream Mountain villa!”
Jessica’s best and most powerful capital for showing off to the outside world was undoubtedly the fact that she lived in the Cloud Dream Mountain villa area. Since moving there, Jessica had become a person above others. When others looked at her, they should do so with a reverential gaze.
Leo and Sophia had long become accustomed to Jessica’s vanity, so they pretended not to hear.
Anyway, for now, the four of them had temporarily settled in Green Spring City.
To Leo and Sophia’s surprise, since they checked into the hotel, Ethan had been unusually attentive. His service attitude was even warmer than that of the hotel staff.
Ethan had already prepared a pot of tea, set out four cups on the coffee table, and poured tea for Leo and the others.
After pouring the tea, Ethan, suppressing his inner nervousness, looked at Jessica and Martin, saying, “Aunt Jessica, Uncle Martin, you’ve come from afar, and the journey must have been bumpy. You must be thirsty. This is Green Spring’s famous Misty Tea. Please have a taste.”
Ethan finished speaking and handed a cup of tea to Jessica first.
Jessica took the tea without suspicion, took a sip, and nodded, “Fragrant and elegant, indeed good tea.”
Ethan then took another cup and handed it to Martin. Martin blew on it, took a sip, but he didn’t taste anything fragrant or elegant. It felt like ordinary tea.
“Sophia… brother-in-law, please try…”
Ethan cautiously handed two cups of tea to Sophia and Leo.
Watching Sophia and Leo take the tea, Ethan felt his heart almost jumping out of his mouth. Luckily, he had strong psychological resilience; otherwise, he would have revealed himself.
Only when he saw Sophia and Leo drinking the tea did Ethan’s heart finally settle.
Simultaneously, he couldn’t help but feel excited because his plan was already halfway successful. Fortune favors the diligent.
Jessica was very satisfied with Ethan’s enthusiasm and changes. She couldn’t help but praise, “Ethan, not seeing you for a while, you’ve grown up and become sensible. Your aunt is truly gratified.”
Leo’s experience was quite the opposite of Jessica’s. He suspected Ethan’s tea had a problem, but to find out Ethan’s intentions, he drank it anyway.
