Chapter 665: Mother-in-law’s Arrogance

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-6-3

Jessica, a seasoned shrew with an unparalleled skill for cursing, effortlessly unleashed her verbal prowess. Seeing her mother-in-law taking the lead, Leo opted to be a bystander, curious to witness how she’d handle this troublemaker.
The elderly scam artist seemed oblivious to Jessica’s tirade, curled up and groaning in apparent pain.
Ignoring the scammer’s indifference further fueled Jessica’s fury. “You old geezer, if you don’t leave here, I swear I’ll crush you!”
As the onlookers gathered, the scammer, shedding tears, moaned, “People these days don’t value lives. They crash into others and act so arrogantly. There’s no justice…”
Sympathy for the underdog swayed the crowd, and they began pointing fingers at Jessica.
Jessica, living in a big city, felt superior to these small-town folks. Hands on hips, she proudly addressed the crowd, “You clueless spectators, don’t spread baseless rumors!”
“We’re from Langstel, returning to Green Spring for a family visit. This old man, seeing us in a luxury car, deliberately tried to scam us!”
“Listen up, everyone! In Langstel, I reside in the most luxurious villa. I’ve encountered many scammers targeting wealthy individuals like this guy!”
“Old man, truth be told, I’m not short on cash. If you don’t move, I’ll crush you. I’ll compensate you later, but you won’t have a life to spend that money on.”
Jessica, chin held high, confidently boasted. Feeling the attention, she reveled in being the center of it all, relishing the spotlight.
However, the onlookers couldn’t tolerate Jessica’s pretentious and shameless self-promotion. They voiced their disapproval.
“This woman has an incredibly thick skin. This old man is battered and bleeding; he doesn’t look like a scammer. They probably hit him with their car!”
“People like her are typical nouveau riche, thinking they’re invincible with a bit of money. They hit someone and instead of rushing them to the hospital, they threaten their life. It’s outrageous.”
“Old man, you should call the police. Dealing with this woman logically won’t work.”
Today, for some unknown reason, Jessica, instead of toning down, escalated her tantrum in response to the crowd’s criticism.
“You old coot, just because you have these onlookers supporting you doesn’t mean I’ll let you off the hook! Today, you’ve seriously ruined my mood. I’ll count to three; if you don’t get up and leave, don’t blame me for resorting to violence.” Jessica threatened while rolling up her sleeves.
After counting to three and seeing the old man still motionless, Jessica couldn’t resist kicking him. However, at that moment, a group of men suddenly charged out from the onlookers.
Dressed haphazardly, the leader with flamboyant long hair bore a resemblance to a long-lost member of the buried love family, Mignon.
“Who the hell is this? Stirring up trouble in my territory. Got a death wish?” Mignon, the leader, spoke with a cocky attitude.
“Mignon, the situation on the scene is crystal clear. These people were recklessly driving around in a beat-up Audi, and they hit this old man.”
“Not only that, just now, I heard this shrew slandering this poor old man, accusing him of a scam.”
“Mignon, as responsible members of society, it’s our duty to stand up for justice. In such situations, we can’t turn a blind eye. It’s time to teach these folks from big cities a lesson in decency.”
Hearing the words from this gang, Jessica remained unfazed, pointing at Mignon and spitting out, “Kid, who do you think you are? Daring to meddle, I bet I can shut you up with some cash!”
Mignon walked up to Jessica, smirked, and delivered a resounding slap to her face.
“A crisp sound echoed on Jessica’s cheek.
“Old lady, let me emphasize this again. This is my turf, and you dare act recklessly here!”
Jessica, hand covering her cheek, stood frozen. She never expected a sudden thug to slap her in front of so many people.
After a brief moment of shock, Jessica couldn’t endure it. She lifted her right hand to retaliate. However, other thugs immediately surrounded her, indicating a readiness to get physical, causing Jessica to lower her hand.
Mignon looked at Jessica disdainfully, “Ladies, don’t think you can act all high and mighty with a few bucks. On my turf, even if you’re a dragon, you’ll have to bow to me!”
Mignon continued, glancing at Leo and Sophia before saying, “You hit someone with your car. The first thing you should do is take the injured to the hospital, not rant and rave here!”
“So what if you’re from Langstel? So what if you’re driving an Audi? Today, I’m laying it out plain. If you don’t kneel down, apologize, take the old man to the hospital, and compensate, I don’t mind teaching you how to be decent human beings!”
Many onlookers knew Mignon’s reputation, but they still expressed approval and support for his “act of valor” today.
“Who would have thought Mignon, renowned on Green Spring’s streets, is so righteous!”
“Dealing with these nouveau riche who think they’re invincible with a bit of money, we need Mignon to step in.”
“That woman was so arrogant just now, why isn’t she saying a word now? For those who dare to act recklessly on our Green Springs turf, there’s no mercy!”
Amid the crowd’s verbal attacks, Jessica’s adrenaline rush from earlier rapidly faded. She couldn’t help but turn to Martin, hoping he would speak up for her.
Disappointingly, Martin appeared scared, more nervous than Jessica herself. There was no hope of him offering any assistance.
Helpless, Jessica looked to Leo, wishing he would explode on these people just like he did for her before. With Leo’s intervention, she could escape the public’s condemnation.
However, reality shattered Jessica’s hopes. Leo merely observed the situation with cold detachment, not even considering uttering a word.
