Leo arrogantly said, “Miss Monica, thank you for your kind reminder. I don’t want trouble, but I won’t shy away from it either. If that Simon and Beck don’t know what’s good for them, I’ll make them realize the magnitude of their mistake.”
In the Land Rover, Beck, puzzled, asked his bodyguard, “You hinted at danger earlier. Where is it coming from?”
“The guy with the crew cut and a sturdy build in the clinic is not simple.” The bodyguard recalled the sharp, almost substantive killing intent in Chasel’s eyes when he saw him earlier. It sent shivers down the bodyguard’s spine.
This revelation left Beck discontented. He continued, “I didn’t find anything special about that man. Do you think you’re not a match for him?”
The bodyguard glanced at his companion and truthfully replied, “Mr. Beck, even if Andrew and I teamed up, we might not be a match for that man.”
“How can someone from Langstel be so powerful!?” Beck was surprised, unable to hide the astonishment on his face.
Simon, however, remained calm. He calmly said, “I had someone investigate Leo. According to the public information, he’s just an ordinary son-in-law to a wealthy family. But, this seemingly ordinary man cured Paul. When I saw Leo, my intuition told me he’s not simple.”
Hearing this, Beck felt a heavy weight in his heart. “Simon, what do we do next? I don’t want to miss this golden opportunity.”
In Langstel, Beck always felt constrained. If it were in European countries, such matters wouldn’t be a concern. He might not even have to personally intervene.
“We can’t miss this opportunity, but we can’t force him too much. Let’s stay in Langstel for a while and find the right moment.” Simon thought carefully and spoke cautiously.
Beck also realized that a straightforward approach might not work with Leo. After a moment of contemplation, he nodded.
Back in the clinic, Monica asked the question she had been wanting to know, “Dr. Bloomer, now tell me how you cured Paul.”
Leo looked at Monica meaningfully and asked, “Miss Monica, do you really just want to know how I cured Paul for academic research purposes?”
Monica remained composed, her tone solemn. “Of course! What else could it be? Do you think I have some ulterior motives?”
“Alright, listen carefully. Whether you can understand or not, I can’t help you.” Leo began explaining the entire process and treatment methods he used to cure Paul, starting from the seminar.
As Monica listened to unfamiliar Chinese medical terms, she could only stare with her alluring red lips, looking utterly bewildered.
Before coming to Langstel, she had specifically brushed up on some knowledge of Chinese medicine. However, after Leo finished explaining, she could comprehend less than thirty percent of what he said.
A sense of helplessness crept into Monica’s heart. It wasn’t that she wasn’t intelligent, but Leo’s treatment methods delved into extremely advanced areas of Chinese medicine. Even some moderately experienced traditional Chinese medicine practitioners might struggle to comprehend it.
Seeing the disappointment on Monica’s face, Leo couldn’t help but laugh, “Miss Monica, don’t be disheartened. If you really want to understand what I just said, come and learn traditional Chinese medicine. You can be my apprentice, and I’ll teach you well.”
“Dream on!” Monica scoffed disdainfully.
Considering Monica’s position as the vice president of the prestigious American Medical Research Society, she would never become an apprentice to a traditional Chinese doctor. That would be beneath her status!
Sakura, who came over to refill their tea, heard Leo mutter to himself, “Today is quite strange. It’s been a large part of the day, and not a single patient has come.”
“Dr. Bloomer, it’s not strange at all. These past few days, an unlisted doctor suddenly appeared on the streets. Rumor has it that his methods are miraculous and very fast-acting. Once the patients who were originally planning to come to the clinic heard about him, they all went to him instead.”
A middle-aged woman who came for medical advice replied after hearing Leo’s muttering.
Leo raised an eyebrow, intrigued, and asked the woman, “What’s so extraordinary about this doctor’s treatment methods?”
The woman replied, “According to my friend, when this doctor treats people, he doesn’t use needles, pulse diagnosis, or prescribe medicine. He just takes a brush, scribbles on a piece of yellow paper, and then mumbles some inexplicable words. The patients who come to see him get cured.”
“How can that possibly cure illnesses? Is this doctor some kind of charlatan?” Sakura couldn’t help but interject.
Sakura believed that the wandering doctor the woman was talking about was undoubtedly a fraud. Such people were quite common in the old society, full of feudal superstitions. It was surprising that some people still believed in such things today.
Those supposedly cured patients were probably just accomplices!
The woman thought for a moment and added, “At first, I thought that doctor was a fraud, and those cured by him were accomplices. But my friend was also cured by him. Oh, my friend mentioned that the doctor called himself ‘Zhu You’ or something and claimed to inherit ancient medical arts.”
Leo’s expression changed at the woman’s words, and he blurted out, “Zhu You Thirteen Arts!”
“Yes, Dr. Bloomer, that’s what you said!” The woman nodded hastily.
Leo muttered, “I didn’t expect someone in this society to understand the Zhu You Thirteen Arts. I have to check it out. Hopefully, he’s not just playing tricks.”
“Dr. Bloomer, what on earth is Zhu You Thirteen Arts?” Monica was completely puzzled.
Leo smiled and said, “Miss Monica, the traditional Chinese medical treatment methods I mentioned earlier have probably already overturned your understanding of medicine. Now, Zhu You Thirteen Arts might just overturn your worldview.”
“Dr. Bloomer, tell us about this Zhu You Thirteen Arts.” Ever since she started working at the clinic, Sakura had developed a keen interest in traditional Chinese medicine.
Seeing their interest, Leo began to explain in detail about Zhu You Thirteen Arts. It was an ancient medical school that didn’t require needles or medications to treat illnesses. The term “Zhu You” first appeared in the medical book ” Plain Questions ,” referring to the ancient practice of treating illnesses without needles or medications.
Zhu You Thirteen Arts was included in the Imperial Medical Academy’s thirteen disciplines in China since 1000 years ago. It was based on the philosophy that by interference with the spirit, one can cure illnesses without using needles or medications.
