Leo smiled and said, “Miss Monica, I believe for an illness that doesn’t require medication, it’s unnecessary to have the patient take medicine continuously for a month.”
“Don’t talk nonsense, Leo! I invited you here for a meal out of respect. Please show enough respect for me and my medical expertise!” Monica was genuinely angry.
To her ears, Leo’s previous words were a blatant insult.
It’s important to note that this new medicine was spearheaded by Monica herself. She and her team put in a lot of effort to bring this highly effective new medicine for treating headaches to light.
Leo had to explain, “Miss Monica, you misunderstood. I have great respect for you and your American Medical Research Society. I acknowledge that your society has advanced technology and capabilities in developing new medicines. What I meant is, Mr. Grace’s condition can be treated uniquely with traditional Chinese medicine, which is simple and effective.”
But when Leo spoke these words, Monica’s expression grew even darker. “You’re just talking nonsense; it’s impossible!”
Monica believed that Leo was not only disrespecting their Medical Research Society but also disrespecting Western medicine!
Chad Grace had taken the top-tier medicine developed by the American Medical Research Society, and Monica found Leo’s statement that Chad didn’t need medicine to be a severe insult to her intelligence.
“Miss Monica, let’s see it with our own eyes.” Leo had come to understand the temperament of this foreign beauty. Arguing with her was futile, so he turned to Chad Grace and said, “Mr. Grace, it’s already noon. Do you feel any signs of a headache?”
Glancing at Monica and then at Leo, Chad Grace weighed his words and said, “There is indeed a slight ache now. If I hadn’t taken the medicine from President Monica, I would probably be in extreme pain. I have to thank President Monica for that.”
Concerned that Monica might get angry and refuse to sell him the new medicine, Chad Grace took the opportunity to praise her while answering Leo’s question.
Leo signaled to the waiter, asked for a glass of water, and then said to Chad Grace, “Mr. Grace, let me treat you, and your headache won’t recur.”
Upon hearing this, and recalling Monica addressing Leo as Dr. Bloomer earlier, Chad Grace couldn’t help but ask, “Mr. Bloomer, are you also a doctor like Miss Monica?”
“Yes, but I’m different from Miss Monica. I am a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner,” Leo replied.
“Traditional Chinese medicine…” Chad Grace hesitated.
“Mr. Grace, my treatment method is straightforward. Why not give it a try?”
Leo took a tissue to wipe off the water from his hands and then asked Chad Grace, “Mr. Grace, how does your head feel now?”
Upon Leo’s inquiry, Chad Grace snapped back to reality. He twisted his head left and right, amazed, “Hmm, it doesn’t hurt now. It’s miraculous!”
After the pleasant surprise, Chad Grace’s face lit up with excitement. He eagerly grabbed Leo’s hand, “Doctor, your treatment is truly miraculous. May I ask for your full name?”
“I’m Leo Bloomer.”
“Leo Bloomer?” Chad Grace furrowed his brows, trying hard to recall. After a while, he couldn’t figure out if there was a renowned doctor named Leo in Langstel.
Leo smiled calmly, “An unknown figure. Mr. Grace not hearing about me is quite normal.”
Chad Grace quickly puffed up his chest, “Dr. Bloomer, from today onwards, I acknowledge only you as the Chinese medicine practitioner in Langstel. Also, will my headache problem never recur again?”
“It will definitely recur!” Before Leo could answer, Monica interjected.
“Mr. Grace, don’t set too high expectations. Leo’s treatment can only temporarily alleviate your pain; it’s impossible to cure it fundamentally!” Monica added.
“This…” Chad Grace became confused again.
“Mr. Grace, Miss Monica is correct. Whether it’s Western medicine or my tapping treatment, they can only temporarily control your headache symptoms. To thoroughly cure your headache, we need to find the root cause and address it from there.”
“Root cause?” Chad Grace slightly opened his mouth, instantly realizing Leo’s implication, “Dr. Bloomer, are you saying you’ve found the root cause of my headache?”
“Yes, I indeed…”
Before Leo could finish his sentence, Monica stood up from her seat, glaring at Leo indignantly, “Can’t you stop deceiving people? The cause of Mr. Grace’s headache cannot be detected even by our most advanced instruments. How can you claim to see it with your naked eyes!?”
When Monica was angry, her chest would rise and fall rapidly, creating a quite spectacular sight in front of her.
In truth, Monica had a sense of foreboding. She feared Leo might actually reveal the cause of Chad Grace’s headache. If Leo accurately stated the cause, it would undoubtedly indicate a defeat for the American Medical Research Society, or even the entire field of Western medicine, in the face of traditional Chinese medicine.
Watching Leo’s confident expression and comparing it to Monica’s stern face, Chad Grace no longer held Monica, or even the American Medical Research Society, in high regard.
He even recalled the scene of himself in the United States, bowing and scraping to others.
“Miss Monica, since you couldn’t identify the cause of my headache, let Dr. Bloomer finish his explanation,” Chad Grace’s tone lost its earlier respect.
Monica had to suppress her inner anger and coldly stared at Leo, “Fine, go ahead. What is the cause of his headache?”
“In fact, Mr. Grace’s headache problem is not a severe illness, and you can even say it’s not an illness.”
“The reason Mr. Grace experiences headaches lies in two factors. Firstly, Mr. Grace has a somewhat unique constitution; he has blood stasis. Secondly, Mr. Grace resides in a lakeside area, and the damp coldness from the lake exacerbates his headaches.”
