Chapter 593: Just Friends

Before leaving, Jessica carefully checked all the necessary documents to ensure nothing was missing. Two hours later, the trio emerged from the real estate management bureau.
Jessica clutched the property ownership certificate with only Sophia’s name tightly to her chest, her expression resembling someone who had just won five million in a lottery. With this major task completed, her current state of mind was nothing short of pure joy.
“Leo, you did well on this matter. Transferring the property ownership to Sophia, my god, it’s like a weight off my chest,” Jessica exclaimed, her happiness evident. Due to her joy, she dropped the use of the term “deadweight” for Leo and addressed him by name.
Leo remained calm, uninterested in engaging with her.
Jessica glanced at Leo sideways, inwardly sneering, “Kid, starting today, Cloud Dream Mountain Villa No. 9 is no longer yours. Let’s see if you’ll dare to show me that attitude in the future!”
Outside the parking lot, Jessica hailed a cab to return home, while Leo drove Sophia to her workplace.
After dropping off Sophia, Leo arrived at the unnamed Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic.
In the clinic’s consultation room, as Leo took over from Dr. Davy, Rosemary appeared before he even settled into the seat. Leo had Chasel pour her a cup of tea and jokingly said, “Miss Rosemary, what wind blew you over here?”
“East, West, South, North winds,” Rosemary casually replied, taking a seat across from Leo.
She then pulled out a document from her briefcase. “Remember my proposal to develop the medicine you exclusively formulated into skincare products? I’ve set up a separate company, completed all the paperwork and collaborated with a factory. Skincare product production has already begun. In the initial phase, we’ll mainly sell to existing clients, building our reputation. Later, sales will undoubtedly soar.”
Rosemary opened the document and handed Leo a contract. “I’ve drafted an investment agreement for you. Take a look, and if there are no issues, sign your name.”
Leo hadn’t paid much attention to this matter, so Rosemary efficiently took care of everything, surprising him in the process.
Taking the contract, Leo noticed the name of Rosemary’s new company: Leo&Rose Cosmetics.
A ‘well’ shape appeared on Leo’s forehead, pointing to the company’s name, he said, “This… this company name doesn’t seem appropriate.”
Chasel brought over a cup of tea in a disposable cup and couldn’t help but agree, “I also feel the name isn’t great.”
Chasel knew Leo was a married man, deeply in love with Sophia. Combining her name with Leo’s for the company seemed inappropriate.
Rosemary couldn’t help but roll her eyes at both of them. “Do you know how hard it is to come up with a nice-sounding company name these days? Anyway, the company is already registered. Whether it’s suitable or not, it has to be. We’ll use this name.”
Not wanting to dwell on the name issue, Leo pointed to another section of the contract, asking, “Is my share too much?”
The contract stated that Leo’s individual share was sixty percent, while Rosemary’s side only had forty percent.
Considering that Leo merely provided a prescription, sixty percent seemed disproportionate.
Rosemary explained, “The reason I started this company is entirely dependent on your prescription. So giving you sixty percent is not excessive.”
Leo shook his head, “Too much. I think 30-40 percent is enough. The company is yours, and you must have absolute controlling shares; otherwise, I won’t sign this contract.”
Rosemary couldn’t help but give Leo another look. She suddenly felt Leo was adorably naive; he wouldn’t even accept money given to him for free.
Although she thought so, Rosemary’s fondness for Leo increased a few notches. She nodded, “Alright, I’ll give you 40 percent of the shares, I’ll take 40 percent, and the remaining 20 percent will stay with the company as a reserve fund.”
Only then did Leo sign his name in the contract’s signature field.
Rosemary put away the contract, placed it in her briefcase, took a sip of tea, and continued, “There’s one more thing. Tomorrow is my grandfather’s birthday. There’s a birthday banquet at noon, and I want you to join me.”
“Ah…” Leo widened his eyes.
“Ah? What’s the ‘ah’ for? One word, yes or no?” Rosemary demanded.
Leo, confused, asked, “Your grandfather’s birthday, why should I go?”
“What else? Eat. I’ll be bored going alone. It’s only fun if you’re there.” Rosemary remembered the incident at the exchange meeting when Leo reprimanded Lawrence Lytton.
Leo looked embarrassed, “To be honest, I really don’t want to go.”
“Hmph, have you forgotten what you promised my grandfather?” Rosemary pouted, annoyed.
“Dr. Rudolph told you about this?” Leo was somewhat surprised.
“What do you think?” Rosemary retorted.
Leo sighed, “Alright, Miss, I’ll go with you.”
“That’s more like it.” Rosemary finally showed a satisfied smile, then stood up from her seat. “I’ll drive to the clinic to pick you up tomorrow.”
After saying that, Rosemary prepared to leave.
“Wait a moment.” Leo stood up from his seat.
In Rosemary’s puzzled gaze, Leo went to the medicine cabinet, took some nourishing herbs, and after packing them, handed them to Rosemary. “Judging from your appearance, your complexion isn’t great, and you seem to lack vitality. Have you been staying up late frequently recently? Take this medicine back, soak it in hot water, and drink it morning and night. It can alleviate the fatigue in your body.”
Rosemary was stunned, staring at Leo in a daze. For a moment, she felt a strange and indescribable emotion.
Over the years, Rosemary had received a lot of insincere care from men. Someone genuinely caring like Leo was a first for her.
Rosemary knew that many men were merely attracted to her appearance. Hence, her usual behavior of repelling men, even going so far as to make others think she was a lesbian, was a way to protect herself.
“Don’t daydream. Take it.” Leo said again.
Rosemary came back to her senses, took the medicine package, and said to Leo, “Thank you.”
After Rosemary left, Chasel walked to Leo’s side, hesitated for a moment, and said, “Dr. Bloomer, there’s something I’m not sure if I should say.”
“Chasel, when did you start beating around the bush? Just say what you want to say.”
“I think you shouldn’t get too close to this woman. Be careful of trouble brewing.” Chasel spoke with an air of someone experienced.
Leo couldn’t help but laugh, “You’re thinking too much. We’re just ordinary friends.”
“A lot of accidental fires start from ordinary friendships,” Chasel expressed in a subtle way.
“Hey, you… You seem like you’d love to see something happen between her and me, don’t you?”
