With these words, Bruno quietly exited the cold storage room. Just as he was about to leave this troublesome place, a cold voice sounded behind him, “Kid, come over here.”
Bruno jumped and shuddered. He knew who was calling him and slowly turned around.
“If you don’t come over, I’ll kill you!” Murray Hoover’s voice was now filled with anger.
Bruno hurriedly jogged over in the direction of Murray Hoover, who was on the ground.
“Old man, are you okay?” Bruno nervously helped Murray Hoover sit up.
“Put all your strength into it and punch me in the back!” Murray Hoover ordered.
“What!?” Bruno was taken aback.
“Don’t you understand me? Do it now!” Murray Hoover impatiently demanded.
Bruno reluctantly threw a punch at Murray Hoover’s back.
Bruno had no choice but to deliver a punch to Murray Hoover’s back.
“Haven’t you had dinner? You’ve got no strength, just like a little girl!” Murray Hoover taunted.
Bruno was already irritated, and in response to this mockery, he shouted and threw a powerful punch.
“Bang!”
A muffled sound echoed from Murray Hoover’s body as a powerful surge of energy burst forth, sending Bruno tumbling to the side.
The embroidery needle embedded in Murray Hoover’s legbone was finally forced out.
With his body now able to move, Murray Hoover sat cross-legged on the ground and began regulating his internal energy.
Recalling what had happened earlier, Murray Hoover couldn’t remember having met that fat old man who had called him by his name. The man’s strength was formidable, and Murray Hoover couldn’t sense any martial artist’s aura from him. There was only one possibility; the fat old man must be a cultivator!
“Old man, can I leave now?” Bruno asked nervously, rising from the ground.
Seeing the old man seated on the ground with his eyes closed and not responding, Bruno carefully inched away.
“Stop!” Murray Hoover coldly uttered two words from his mouth.
Bruno immediately froze, not daring to move.
“What’s your name?” Murray Hoover asked.
Bruno truthfully replied, “I’m Bruno, from the Langstel Henley Group.”
“Do you have a grudge with that Leo?” Murray Hoover continued.
Bruno nodded, “A deep and bitter one. I want to kill him every moment. But I’ve failed every time.”
“What’s your relationship with that woman, and how is she related to Leo?”
“That woman is Sophia, my cousin, Leo’s wife.”
Murray Hoover opened his eyes, “You actually went after your cousin.”
“If it means getting rid of Leo, I’d do it even if she were my sister,” Bruno’s hatred for Leo had sunk deep into his bones.
Murray Hoover fell silent, contemplating how to justify this situation to the William family. He didn’t really care about the the Williams in Langstel, but it was a branch of the Williams in the capital, and it was one of the four major families he couldn’t afford to offend.
The situation could have been easily resolved, but then an old man, who might very well be a spiritual cultivator, appeared on the scene.
That made things mysterious and peculiar.
If the fat old man kept protecting Leo, it could become troublesome to eliminate Leo.
After some consideration, Murray Hoover thought that this kid Bruno still had some usefulness, and he said, “Kid, I’ll give you two choices. First, follow me and absolutely obey my orders. Second, die right here.”
Even a fool could figure out which option to choose.
Bruno quickly responded, “Sir, I’m willing to follow you and obey your commands.”
Bruno meant every word. Being able to follow someone as powerful as Murray Hoover, regardless of whether it would help him become the chairman of the Henley Group in the future, was already enticing. The mere prospect of relying on Murray Hoover to deal with Leo and Sophia made Bruno’s heart race.
On the city roads, an Audi car smoothly advanced. Though they were undoubtedly safe now, Sophia couldn’t entirely calm her mind. Throughout the journey, she found herself pondering various thoughts.
A billion-dollar bank loan, Azure Financial’s involvement, her kidnapping, and the sudden appearance of a man named Murray Hoover, followed by the inexplicable appearance of the chubby old man… Sophia couldn’t help but feel that her husband, Leo, had become increasingly enigmatic in front of her.
However, these thoughts weren’t her top priority. What truly mattered was that she and Leo were both alive and well. When Leo had been beaten to the point of spitting blood by Murray Hoover earlier, Sophia had been utterly terrified.
Following that, the two of them made a stop at a wedding photography shop called “Red Candle’s Beauty” in the SOHO commercial square to discuss photography arrangements and finalize the time for their wedding photoshoot. Afterward, to lift Sophia’s spirits, Leo took her to watch a movie. Following the movie, they shared a lovely dinner before heading home.
While driving back, Leo explained to Sophia the reason behind her kidnapping.
“Sophia, the Go match, I lost,” Leo sighed softly.
A gentle smile appeared on Sophia’s face, “In my heart, you won.”
When their car stopped in the villa’s parking area, Sophia unfastened her seatbelt and took the initiative to kiss Leo.
This was the first time Sophia had initiated a kiss. Leo was pleasantly surprised and savored the taste of her lipstick.
At that moment, time seemed to stand still. It was only after a while that they got out of the car, hand in hand, and walked toward the grand entrance of the villa. Upon entering the living room, they were greeted by an unexpected sight: Alex and his family sitting on the couch.
Jessica’s expression darkened slightly, and she sternly asked, “Sophia, Leo, don’t you have any sense of time? You always come back so late.”
Compared to Jessica’s sour demeanor, after receiving the money, Alex and his family appeared with smiles on their faces.
Ethan stood up and offered an apologetic smile, saying, “Sophia, I’m sorry for my previous actions. I hope you can forgive me.”
Alex’s family’s arrival turned Sophia’s previously good mood sour again. She asked indifferently, “Aren’t you leaving? Why did you come back?”
Jessica stood up and scolded Sophia, “Sophia, your tone is terrible. Uncle Alex and Aunt Alex came to bid us farewell.”
“Fine, then let’s say goodbye. You can leave now,” Sophia retorted. Given her displeasure over the kidnapping incident, she had no patience for any more antics from Alex’s family.
“Dear, are you in a bad mood? How can you speak to Uncle Alex this way?” Jessica confronted Sophia, hands on her hips, clearly unhappy with her attitude.
