Leo smiled and explained, “Medicinal black roses help regulate blood flow and dispel stasis, but in the prescription I provided, the absence of black roses won’t make a difference. I added them for their symbolic value, bathing in rose petals can improve one’s mood, especially for women.”
Impressed with Leo’s attention to detail, Ryan couldn’t help but praise him, “Dr. Bloomer, your medical skills are truly considerate. I consider myself lucky to have met you today.”
Leo’s words warmed Marina’s heart, and a beautiful smile graced her lips. She found herself growing fonder of Leo. Indeed, life needed rituals, and even in healing, a touch of romance held extraordinary significance for women who sought beauty.
Once everything was prepared, Sandra, holding necessary bathing supplies, followed Marina into the bathroom. In the bathroom, Sandra gazed at Marina’s skin, aside from the red spots, which resembled flawless white jade. She couldn’t help but comment, “Miss, your skin is truly flawless. I wish my skin was as fair as yours.”
Sandra had naturally darker skin, and she’d always envied those with fair complexions. Marina chuckled self-deprecatingly, “My skin is pale due to illness, and there are all these red spots. Nothing to envy.”
Sandra quickly reassured her, “Dr. Bloomer said the red spots will disappear after your bath.”
“Sandra, do you really believe what that guy said? Do you truly think a bath can cure me?” Marina gave Sandra a meaningful look.
Sandra tilted her head, pondered for a moment, and then nodded, “I didn’t like that guy at first, but I feel like he’s telling the truth. At least I trust him more than the blind doctor.”
Marina smiled, her feelings mirrored Sandra’s. Outside the bathroom, blind Ryan got the prescription from Leo and eagerly handed it to Thomas, saying, “Mr. Wordsworth, could you please read this prescription for me?”
Thomas, now rather disdainful of the blind doctor. He had once held great hopes for him. But instead of curing Marina’s illness, he’d caused her to develop these awful red spots. Now, with the young man Harry had brought possibly curing Marina’s illness through a simple bath, Thomas felt embarrassed for his previous faith in the blind doctor.
Despite his grievances against Ryan, Thomas knew the blind man had some skills, as his own ailment had been cured by the blind man. So, unable to form an alliance with Leo, Thomas reluctantly took the prescription and began reading it aloud, “Red Phosphorus Arrow Feather, 20 grams, Cicada Chrysalis, 25 grams, Wu Jia Bark, 35 grams…”
While Thomas carefully read the prescription, Ryan contemplated the effects of each ingredient. After witnessing side effects under Ryan’s care, Baldwin couldn’t help but feel anxious about Leo’s treatment methods. He inquired, “Dr. Bloomer, are you certain your bath prescription is safe? What if my sister develops complications after bathing?”
Leo detested being questioned by others and interrupted, saying, “Mr. Meredith, if you’re so concerned, why don’t you call your sister out right now?”
This retort left Baldwin red-faced. When had the young scion endured such humiliation? If it weren’t for his sister, he might have already unleashed his temper.
Approximately half an hour later, the bathroom door swung open. Sandra rushed out, excitement lighting up her face as she told Baldwin, “Young Master, Miss’s red spots have vanished!”
“Really!?” Hearing this, Baldwin sprang up from the couch, unable to contain his joy.
Shortly after Sandra came out, Marina emerged from the bathroom, now dressed in loose and refreshing clothes.
Baldwin immediately checked his sister’s arms and back. The dreaded and alarming red spots had indeed disappeared. Marina’s complexion had changed from a sickly pallor to a healthy, rosy whiteness, as soft and pink as a newborn baby’s skin.
After asking a few concerned questions, Baldwin finally confirmed that his sister was fine. “This is incredible! Dr. Bloomer, you’ve cured my sister. How much do you want in fees? Name your price!”
Leo remained composed and replied, “I don’t need fees. I have only one request – consider Mr. Toby for your business dealings. Furthermore, to ensure your sister’s complete recovery, follow my bathing prescription for the next three days.”
“No problem, as for our business collaboration, I originally…” Baldwin’s words were cut short as he noticed that Leo wasn’t listening to him. Instead, Leo walked directly towards the suite’s exit.
This left Baldwin seething with anger, thinking, “Leo, you may be a skilled doctor, but how dare you show me such an attitude? If I ever get you in my clutches, you’ll pay!”
Marina felt an urge to say something to Leo as he left, but before she could voice her thoughts, Leo had already exited the door. To her surprise, a slight sense of disappointment stirred in her heart, a feeling she had never experienced before.
Shortly after Leo’s departure, Baldwin signed the business collaboration contract with Harry. Thomas watched silently, though he was tormented by the situation.
Upon their return to the Nameless Chinese Medicine Clinic, Leo and Chasel discussed some arrangements. Leo informed Chasel that he could stay in the three-story building at the clinic’s backyard, where his main job would involve assisting at the clinic.
Chasel was content with this arrangement, as he had simple material needs. His main purpose in coming to Langstel was to search for his daughter.
“Chasel, do you have any leads in your search for your daughter?” Leo inquired.
Chasel immediately retrieved a crumpled piece of paper and a photograph from his pocket, handing them to Leo, and explained, “I’ve been away from my hometown for four years because of a mission. My family thought I had died, my wife ran away with someone else, and my daughter was adopted.”
“This is the address of the family who adopted her, along with a picture of my daughter when she was a child. I’ve been to the address on the note, but it’s been demolished, and the trail has gone cold.”
Leo looked at the address on the paper and the photograph and said, “I’ll ask a friend for help; maybe we can dig up some leads. Jill, who is a police officer, might be able to help.”
Leo planned to find time to seek assistance from Madame Godwin since she had police connections and would be more adept at locating people.
