Leo flicked his cigarette ash and spoke nonchalantly, “You guys came here to steal the General’s Blood Jade. Why resort to murder?”
The middle-aged chubby man grinned, “Stealing things without shedding some blood feels like something is missing in life.”
“Is that so? Don’t you know that murder is a capital offense?” Leo countered.
“Of course, we know. We’ve got enough crimes on our conscience to die several times over, so one more death doesn’t bother us,” the middle-aged man replied while tapping his baseball bat.
“Freda Wollaston sent you, didn’t she?” Leo inquired.
“That question, you might want to ask the King of Hell,” the middle-aged chubby man replied.
Before he could finish, a purple dagger suddenly pressed against his throat. No one had seen when Leo had moved. The whole place fell into eerie silence.
No one had expected that Leo had such skills. The middle-aged chubby man let go of his baseball bat, sighed, and said, “I underestimated you.”
“Chubby, I’m giving you a chance to live. Do you want to take it?” Leo sneered.
The middle-aged chubby man didn’t look afraid and said mockingly, “Even though you have me under control, do you think my three companions will let you leave here alive? You dare to talk big about giving me a chance to live; it’s laughable.”
Just as the middle-aged chubby man finished speaking, his three companions brandished their weapons and taunted, “Kid, if you dare harm our big brother, I’ll wipe out your entire family!”
The female robber even pulled a handgun from her body and pointed it at Leo, coldly saying, “Let go of my big brother, or else…”
Before she could finish her sentence, she suddenly felt a blur in her vision, and her handgun disappeared. Following this, a sharp pain shot through her knees, forcing her to kneel on the ground.
“I didn’t ask you to speak; you’d better keep quiet,” Leo’s voice sounded cold and stern.
Upon further inspection, Leo was seen holding a handgun against the middle-aged chubby man’s forehead. “Chubby, I gave you a chance, but you failed to appreciate it. Do you have anything else to say now?”
“I underestimated you. I admit it,” the middle-aged chubby man replied with a bitter smile. He then gave a secret signal.
However, before his two henchmen could act, they, like the female robber, ended up kneeling on the ground in unison.
Leo kicked the middle-aged chubby man away, dropped the gun, and used silver needles to subdue all four robbers. He then called Madame Godwin and asked her to send someone to collect the “gift.”
After leaving the abandoned construction site, Leo found a quiet spot and absorbed the energy from the General’s Blood Jade. Then, he drove back to the city center.
Upon his return, Leo received an unexpected call. It was August Browne on the line.
Leo didn’t hesitate and pressed the answer button, “Mr. Browne, hello.”
On the other end of the call, August spoke gently, “Leo, there’s something I’d like to ask for your help with.”
“Mr. Browne, what is it? Please, go ahead.”
“Well, in Langstel, there’s a place called Extensive Martial Arts Traning Center. Have you heard of it?”
“Extensive Martial Arts Traning Center? I’ve heard of it vaguely. What’s the matter?”
“Extensive Martial Arts Traning Center is a martial arts gym I privately own. Today, at 4 PM, a friend of mine another city is bringing a formidable opponent to challenge us. So, I’d like you to come and help me uphold our reputation.”
Leo glanced at the time and replied, “No problem. Just tell me the address, and I’ll head over now.”
After hanging up the phone, Leo drove to the Extensive Martial Arts Training Center.
The Extensive Martial Arts Training Center was located in a quiet area in the western part of Langstel. It was a spacious place with a traditional and elegant design that exuded a strong martial arts atmosphere. Upon entering through the main gate, there was a wide courtyard, followed by both outdoor and indoor training areas.
At this moment, over twenty well-built men in uniforms were engaged in various forms of training. Some were practicing partner sparring, some were using wooden dummies, and others were training with weapons.
Before long, a high-end business car arrived outside the training center, and several tough-looking men were the first to disembark. The last person to exit was a man of a similar age to August, with slightly graying hair. Although he appeared slim, there was an undeniable air of strength around him.
This man was dressed in a grayish-white practice uniform, and his eyes held a restrained gleam.
The training center’s gate was kicked open by the first few burly men who had exited the car. They fanned out on both sides to welcome the gray-haired man with respect.
Upon seeing strangers forcibly entering the training center, the disciples practicing in the front courtyard immediately gathered. One of the disciples sternly demanded, “Who are you? How dare you intrude into the Extensive Martial Arts Training Center!”
The gray-haired man cast a disdainful glance at the approaching disciples and coldly said, “Where’s that old guy August Browne? Get him out here!”
At this moment, the manager of the Extensive Martial Arts Training Center, Theodore Green, and August’s senior disciple, rushed forward. Theodore stared at the gray-haired man and asked sharply, “What do you want here?”
The gray-haired man gave Theodore a scornful look and then beckoned. A burly man behind him stepped forward.
“Evan, since we came all the way here to challenge, let’s begin with a little gift,” the gray-haired man said.
Evan, who had been called by the gray-haired man, respectfully replied, “Mr. Winifred, rest assured, I won’t disappoint August Browne with this gift.”
Evan then walked up to Theodore and disdainfully said, “Summon your best fighter from the Extensive Martial Arts Training Center. I intend to beat him into submission.”
This boast was incredibly arrogant, and it caused Theodore to clench his fists, the knuckles producing a distinct cracking sound due to his tension.
Theodore stared fiercely at Evan and said, “I don’t care who you are, but you won’t behave recklessly here at the Extensive Martial Arts Training Center. Leave!”
Evan wasn’t intimidated by Theodore’s demeanor and responded with a cold look, “It seems you’re the best fighter here at the Extensive Martial Arts Training Center. Whether or not I can act recklessly, you’ll have to ask my fists.”
“Is that so? You’ll regret this!” Theodore’s determination and confidence were unwavering.
The gray-haired man sat leisurely in a nearby chair, watching Evan and Theodore with interest. He muttered to himself, “August, if you don’t show up soon, don’t blame me for dismantling your Extensive Martial Arts Training Center.”
Evan didn’t want to waste time with more words and assumed a combat stance. He threw a powerful punch at Theodore, who sidestepped, narrowly avoiding Evan’s strike, and then counterattacked with his own fist.
After a couple of rounds, the two separated, warily facing each other, ready to continue their physical confrontation. Just as they were about to engage again, a cheerful voice rang out, “Jack, after all these years, you’re still as competitive as ever, huh?”
