If it weren’t for Leo’s help today, in this situation, Nora wouldn’t have continued working as a housekeeper.
Staring at the luxurious and spacious guest room, Nora felt somewhat uncomfortable. “Mr. Bloomer, I really don’t need to stay in the guest room,” she said.
“Enough said. I want you to stay here, and that’s where you’ll stay. You were hired by me, and I call the shots. After you’ve unpacked, familiarize yourself with the surroundings. I have to go out for a bit,” Leo said.
With the situation clear, Nora had no choice but to comply.
Seeing that Leo was adamant about Nora staying in the guest room, Jessica, in the living room, got an idea.
Once Leo left the villa’s grand hall, Jessica reached for an orange on the coffee table. After peeling it, she carelessly tossed the peel on the floor, completely ignoring the nearby trash bin.
“Nora, what are you doing dawdling in the guest room? The floor in the living room is dirty; get out here and clean it,” Jessica called out toward the guest room.
Upon hearing Jessica’s words, Nora paused while making the bed and then walked out, fetching a broom to clean the floor in front of Jessica.
Once Nora finished sweeping the floor, Jessica intentionally spilled some tea on the floor and then bossily ordered, “The tiles shouldn’t get wet; quickly mop the floor.”
After Nora mopped the floor, Jessica pointed at the sofa, saying, “There’s dust on the sofa; it needs cleaning.”
“And the cabinets need a thorough wipe.”
Nora obediently carried out Jessica’s instructions without a word of complaint.
“Oh, by the way, don’t break any of my china during your cleaning. If you do, you won’t be able to afford it even if you work here for a year!”
“In this house, you have to do everything my way. If you don’t perform up to my standards, I’ll fire you! Leo may be my unwelcome son-in-law, but in this house, his opinions don’t matter! Understand?” Jessica emphasized.
Nora nodded and said, “Mrs Henley, don’t worry. I’ll do as you say, and if you find anything unsatisfactory, please let me know, and I’ll make it right.”
“I’m not your supervisor. Anyway, you’re in charge of household chores and cooking. If I find something subpar, I’ll dock your pay!” Jessica regained her sense of superiority in front of Nora. “I have to leave now to run some errands. Clean the entire house while I’m gone, and I expect it to be spotless when I return!”
Today, Jessica had made plans to go shopping with her poker cards friends. After giving Nora her orders, she picked up her handbag and left.
Jessica met up with her friends at the designated location.
Her friends had already heard about her moving into the Cloud Dream Mountain villa area, and each of them wore expressions of envy on their faces, satisfying Jessica’s vanity.
“Sisters, you know, the legendary Cloud Dream Mountain villas are just like any other; they’re just a bit bigger. With a bigger house comes the challenge of keeping it clean. Today, I spent several thousand dollars to hire a maid to help with cleaning,” Jessica proudly announced.
Jessica’s friends came from relatively modest backgrounds, at best considered middle-class. So when she moved into the Cloud Dream Mountain villa area, Jessica felt a sense of superiority when dealing with them.
“Jessica, when will you invite us to your Cloud Dream Mountain villa for a visit?” one woman asked eagerly.
Jessica pondered for a moment and replied, “Give it some time. I just moved in, and the villa is still in a bit of a mess. Once I have everything in order, I’ll invite you all over.”
“I heard that Villa 9 has a natural hot spring. Is that true?” another woman inquired.
Jessica proudly responded, “Of course, it’s true! When the time comes, I’ll invite you over to soak in the hot spring and play mahjong!”
“Really? You better not be pulling our legs.”
“Absolutely not. Just wait for my invitation. Anyway, let’s go shopping now!” Jessica waved with confidence.
After coming down from Cloud Dream Mountain, Leo drove straight to Rosemary’s company. Rosemary had called Leo earlier, mentioning that she needed to see him at her office.
Leo, thinking it was about Dr. Rudolph’s request, didn’t ask many questions. After ensuring Nora’s was settled, he set off for the meeting.
Upon entering Rosemary’s office, he was surprised to find a rather handsome man there.
When Rosemary saw Leo come in, she casually linked her arm with his and said with a smile, “You didn’t believe I had a boyfriend, did you? Well, here he is.”
Upon witnessing Rosemary’s gesture, the man, named Lawrence Lytton, immediately felt a pang of chest pain, as though a sledgehammer had struck him in the chest. His face displayed a mix of shock and anger.
Lawrence had known Rosemary for a long time and had always had a deep affection for her.
He was aware that Rosemary wasn’t interested in men, and at this moment, she was intimately linking arms with another man!
After a brief moment of surprise, Leo understood that Rosemary had brought him here as a shield.
Leo couldn’t let Rosemary have her way. He looked at Lawrence and said, “Don’t listen to her nonsense. I’m already married.”
“Leo, you jerk! What about last night in bed? You promised me, didn’t you say you’d divorce that woman today?” Rosemary let go of Leo’s hand, her face filled with anger.
It must be said that Rosemary possesses some acting talent. Her facial expressions are perfectly timed and well-coordinated.
Leo was taken aback by Rosemary’s words. When a woman goes mad, it can indeed be terrifying, and she was willing to throw her reputation and dignity out the window.
Leo quickly caught on; Rosemary was a lesbian and had no interest in men. Honor meant nothing to her, but Leo couldn’t follow her lead; he was a married man.
The phrase “in bed” made Lawrence’s vision go black momentarily. If it weren’t for his strong willpower, he might have fainted right there. The pace of events was too rapid. Just a few days ago, he had asked Dr. Rudolph about Rosemary, and Dr. Rudolph had clearly told him that Rosemary didn’t have a boyfriend.
Now, not only did she have a boyfriend, but they had also engaged in such a relationship, and with a married man. In the eyes of a handsome and wealthy guy like Lawrence, there was no way he could compare to a married man!
Seeing Lawrence giving him a death glare, Leo shrugged his shoulders, saying, “Buddy, it’s not what you’re thinking. Let me explain.”
