Chapter 307: Face Slap

Book:The All-powerful Son-In-Law Published:2024-6-3

“Too bad, a loser like you won’t get in at all. You better leave now. If you want to freeload, you need to be prepared for it. Don’t come to places like this and embarrass yourself,” the crowd’s mocking and taunts made Gilbert quite satisfied. This feeling of collectively humiliating someone was rather enjoyable.
In the past, Leo might have lost control and resorted to violence, but not anymore.
With his spiritual power and cultivation level at the lower Spiritualist realm, his state of mind was on a completely different level from ordinary people.
To Leo, the people around him were like noisy mosquitoes. He didn’t want to bother swatting them away and dirtying his hands.
Leo reached into his pocket, preparing to take out the auction member card that Devin had given him.
“Kid, I warn you, this is not a place where you can play around. Get out of here now!” The jeering from the crowd made the ticket inspector aware of Leo’s identity, prompting him to angrily shout at Leo.
Gilbert continued to add fuel to the fire, “Leo, you are really without shame. Even in this situation, you can maintain such a calm expression. If I were you, I’d have gone to the bathroom to pee and reflect on my own character.”
“Hurry up and get lost, kid. Don’t obstruct us from entering!”
“Ticket inspector, call security and give him a shock or two to sober him up.”
“For such an upscale auction venue, an eyesore like this appears. How disgusting!”
Since these onlookers enjoyed mocking Leo so much, he decided not to reveal his identity. He took a few steps forward, pretending to want to force his way in.
“Kid, what are you trying to do? Trying to break in? Who gave you the guts?” The ticket inspector stepped forward, blocking Leo’s path.
Seeing that Leo completely ignored him, the ticket inspector couldn’t contain his anger and reached out to push Leo, attempting to knock him down.
The inspector’s hand did indeed make contact with Leo’s body, but Leo didn’t budge.
The inspector increased his strength, but Leo remained unmoved.
“You better let me in right now, or you’ll regret it later,” Leo’s words rang in the inspector’s ears, cold but filled with an overpowering dominance.
Upon hearing Leo’s words, the ticket inspector and Gilbert were initially stunned, then burst into laughter.
“Am I mishearing? A freeloading loser dares to say such words. Does he want to make me laugh?”
“This freeloading son-in-law must have a screw loose in his head. How dare he!”
“I’ve seen people show off, but I’ve never seen anyone show off to this extent. Does he think this place is a market where you can enter whenever you want?”
Countless taunts rained down on Leo, and Gilbert was ecstatic. He hugged Athena and continued to fan the flames, “Leo, the auction hasn’t even started yet, but let me give you some advice. Go back and kneel in front of your mother-in-law or Sophia, beg them to give you a hundred thousand, so you can afford the entrance fee.”
After Gilbert finished speaking, laughter echoed again.
“I truly feel sorry for Sophia now. She actually brought such a loser home. Someone like you, Leo, makes me sick. In these four years, Sophia probably won’t let you touch her, right? Otherwise, she’ll have nightmares.” Athena couldn’t stand being outdone and chimed in, adding more fuel to the fire.
Leo turned around, and his icy gaze locked onto Athena. “Bitch, want to say that again?”
“Damn, do you dare to insult me?” Leo’s words infuriated Athena to the point where she couldn’t control herself. She tried to slap Leo’s face.
“Smack!”
A loud, resounding slap silenced the entire scene.
People automatically assumed that Athena had slapped Leo in the face.
“This loser’s presence is a disgrace to men. If I were him, I’d have already jumped off a building.”
“A freeloading son-in-law, if he’s not slapped by a woman, he probably wouldn’t feel comfortable. In these four years, Sophia probably won’t let him touch her. Otherwise, he’ll have nightmares at night.”
“Being beaten by a woman, he’s impossible to resist or dare to fight back. He wanted to show off his presence, and now he’s satisfied.”
Amidst the mocking voices, there were two more loud slaps.
This time, everyone saw clearly that it wasn’t Athena who had slapped Leo; it was Leo who had slapped Athena.
At this moment, everyone’s eyes widened in disbelief, and they stared at the scene in front of them.
Athena, her face caked with thick makeup, now bore two bright red handprints on her cheeks. She stood frozen in place, her expression a mix of shock and disbelief.
Leo turned around, retrieved a membership card from his pocket, and handed it over.
Seeing the auction member card, the ticket inspector’s cold and arrogant expression immediately changed into a flattering one. “Sir, I’m sorry, please come in!”
The spectators, dumbfounded, couldn’t believe their eyes.
Why did the ticket inspector let him in?
Gilbert finally snapped out of it and shouted angrily, “Damn, you loser! How dare you hit my woman!”
Leo simply walked away, not paying Gilbert any mind.
“Gilbert, if you don’t break his hands and feet, I’m going to break up with you!” Feeling the fiery pain on her face, Athena burst into tears.
Being slapped three times by a useless son-in-law made Athena feel greatly humiliated.
Gilbert grabbed Athena’s hand. “Let’s go in, I’ll make sure he crawls in front of you like a dog by the end of the auction.”
He handed over their entrance ticket, and they entered the auction venue.
The onlookers, filled with curiosity and excitement, eagerly presented their entrance tickets and followed Gilbert. To them, the real show was just beginning.
Gilbert, Athena, and their group made their way to the VIP section, locating their seats based on the numbers printed on their tickets. Once seated, all their attention was fixated on Leo.
What they witnessed next left them utterly astonished, as if their eyes had been exposed to an overload of astonishing sights.
Leo had actually headed to the auction area, and he did so without anyone stopping him.
How could a supposed wastrel son-in-law possibly enter the auction section? That area was reserved exclusively for those participating in the bidding! Was he perhaps working for one of the bidders? How else could he have passed through the ticket checker without any hindrance?
There was another possibility, though it seemed as improbable as winning a lottery jackpot: Leo was that secret bidder!
But this possibility was as remote as it could be. The Henley family was merely a second-rate noble family; they couldn’t possibly afford to have their daughter’s husband participate in a villa auction like this.
Athena’s eyes burned with seething resentment as she turned to Gilbert and asked, “Gilbert, that wastrel is too arrogant. I want to see him crawling on the ground like a dog today. How do you plan to deal with him?”
“Don’t worry,” Gilbert replied with a tough tone, though he was far from certain himself. “Wait until the auction is over. I’ll make sure he’s humbled before you, just like a dog.”
With one in the visitor section and the other in the auction area, their prospects seemed grim.
