Chapter 300: Taking Credit

Lynn rushed up to Leo and demanded, “What have you done to the injured woman!?”
“She’s severely injured. I’ve temporarily kept her alive. You need to get her to the hospital for surgery…” Acupuncture, no matter how miraculous, couldn’t mend the woman’s fractured ribs.
“What!?” Lynn exaggeratedly widened her eyes. “Do you have any common sense? Injured victims from car accidents should not be moved recklessly, and you’re not a doctor! You dare claim to have saved her life! Let me tell you, if the victim dies, you’ll be legally responsible. You can look forward to a prison sentence!”
After lecturing Leo with a barrage of words, Lynn had two male medical personnel use a stretcher to transport the injured woman into the ambulance. In truth, Lynn wasn’t deeply concerned about the woman’s life or death. She had berated Leo purely to vent her pent-up frustration.
Upon seeing the ambulance’s door about to close, Leo suddenly shouted, “Remember, never remove the silver needles from her!”
Lynn heard Leo’s loud shout, but she chose to ignore it and instructed the driver to proceed.
Twenty minutes later, the ambulance rushed into the hospital. In the emergency room, Dr. Mond was already waiting with her two assistants.
Seeing the woman, covered in blood and in a semi-unconscious state, Dr. Mond knew the situation was dire. She quickly adjusted various instruments and began a thorough examination.
After the examination results came in, Dr. Mond and her team were left stunned. The woman’s injuries were indeed severe; she had two broken ribs, with one of them slightly piercing her spleen, causing extensive internal bleeding. However, what puzzled them was that her breathing and heart rate were normal, and the internal bleeding had stopped.
Dr. Mond soon noticed the nine silver needles inserted in various parts of the woman’s body.
Could it be the effect of these silver needles…?
Dr. Mond suddenly recalled the man who had used acupuncture to revive a detective in the emergency room a few days ago. Today, it was silver needles again, and they had saved this woman’s life. It seemed that traditional Chinese acupuncture had truly remarkable capabilities.
Dr. Mond couldn’t help but feel amazed and looked at Lynn. “Lynn, you really hide your talents well. To think that you understand acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine! Without those nine silver needles on the injured woman, she might not have made it to the hospital.”
Dr. Mond’s words left Lynn stunned.
Hidden talents?
Acupuncture?
She couldn’t believe what she was hearing. She had managed to get an internship in this hospital through connections, and while she had some basic knowledge of medical care, she was nowhere near the level of a qualified doctor, let alone an acupuncturist.
Wait a minute!
Could it be that these nine silver needles were inserted by Leo into the injured woman?
Lynn’s mind was racing, and regardless of whether it was Leo or not, since she had brought the injured person here, she could take credit for the situation. So, Lynn feigned modesty and said, “Dr. Mond, you’re too kind. I only have some basic knowledge of acupuncture in traditional Chinese medicine. I didn’t plan to intervene when I rushed to the scene today, but the situation was critical, so I took the liberty of performing acupuncture on her. I hope you won’t blame me.”
Lynn modestly replied, pretending to be unaware of the implications, “Dr. Mond, you’re too kind. I only have a basic understanding of traditional Chinese acupuncture. I wasn’t planning to intervene at the scene, but the victim’s situation was critical, so I decided to use acupuncture without authorization. I hope you won’t hold it against me.”
Lynn’s humble response earned her more appreciation from Dr. Mond. “Lynn, no matter what, you’ve done a great service today. I’ll inform the hospital director of your heroic act, and I’ll recommend that you be officially hired. You can use your talents in the Traditional Chinese Medicine department. A talent like yours shouldn’t be buried.”
Hearing the prospect of official employment, Lynn became excited. “Thank you so much, Dr. Mond.”
One of Dr. Mond’s assistants, with a hint of envy, said to Lynn, “Lynn, let me tell you one more thing. This victim is Nana Hansom, the daughter of Darren Hansom, the well-known real estate tycoon. You saved his daughter’s life, and he will undoubtedly reward you generously.”
Daughter of a real estate tycoon? Lynn’s head was spinning. The sudden happiness was overwhelming, and she felt like she had reached the pinnacle of her life in an instant.
As Lynn daydreamed about being drowned in riches, a group of people burst into the emergency room.
Leading them was a middle-aged man with a slicked-back hairstyle and glasses perched on his nose. He had an imposing presence and was accompanied by a middle-aged woman who still exuded charm. The woman wore a tasteful light pink dress, and her face was filled with anxiety.
This middle-aged couple was none other than Langstel’s renowned real estate tycoon, Darren Hansom, and his wife, Windy.
Dr. Mond clearly recognized Darren, and as he rushed in with a worried expression, she greeted him, “Mr. Hansom!”
Darren’s wife immediately grabbed Dr. Mond’s hand and cried, “Dr. Mond, my daughter… How is my daughter?”
Darren and Windy had only one daughter, Nana. If anything happened to her, Windy would be devastated.
“Dr. Mond, please, no matter what, you have to save my daughter. Money is not an issue.” Darren implored with a pleading look.
Dr. Mond quickly reassured them, “Mr. Hansom, Mrs. Hansom, please don’t worry. I’ve conducted a comprehensive examination of Miss Hansom. Although her injuries are severe, her condition is currently stable, and there’s no immediate threat to her life. After consulting with other specialists, we will formulate the best surgical plan. Please rest assured, Miss Hansom will be fine.”
Upon hearing Dr. Mond’s words, Windy wiped away a tear and exclaimed, “Dr. Mond, is that true? Will Nana be okay?”
Windy turned to look at the hospital bed where her daughter lay motionless. Nana had an oxygen mask on her face, and her mother couldn’t help but feel heartbroken.
“Dr. Mond, can you be completely honest about Nana’s condition? We can handle it,” Darren said, worried that Dr. Mond might be trying to comfort them.
Dr. Mond nodded firmly, “I’m speaking the truth. Moreover, you should thank one of our nurses at the hospital.”
“A nurse?” Darren and Windy exchanged puzzled glances.
“After the car accident, Miss Hansom suffered severe injuries, and it was impossible for her to survive until the hospital. However, one of our nurses, who understands acupuncture, used this technique to stabilize Miss Hansom’s vital signs, buying us precious time for the upcoming surgery.”
Dr. Mond’s explanation finally eased the tension in Darren and Windy’s hearts.
Dr. Mond invited the couple to come closer to the hospital bed and showed them the monitoring screens displaying Nana’s vital signs. All indicators were within the normal range, and Nana lay peacefully, as if asleep.
Windy wanted to hold her daughter’s hand but was stopped by Darren, knowing that Nana would undergo surgery soon, and it wasn’t advisable to touch her.
