“Want to save your little sister-in-law? Come to the place where you found the White Jade Turtle!” The voice on the other end of the phone said, then abruptly hung up.
So it’s Seven Stars Sword Sect!
Despicable!
Leo cursed silently. He pocketed his phone and sprinted towards his parked car.
As he got into the driver’s seat, Leo sped toward Hat Mountain with all his might. Tina couldn’t afford to be in danger, especially because of him; he would be wracked with guilt.
In less than an hour, Leo arrived at the pond near Hat Mountain, where the White Jade Turtle had been. But the turtles were gone, clearly moved by the Seven Stars Sword Sect.
Janet, who was already waiting there, sneered, “You got here pretty quickly, kid.”
“Where’s my sister-in-law?” Leo scanned the surroundings coldly but couldn’t spot Tina.
Janet grinned ominously. “Your pretty little sister-in-law is in good hands right now. If you want her to stay safe, you’ll tell me your secret.”
“What secret?” Leo didn’t understand.
“Kid, don’t play dumb,” Janet huffed. “Where did you learn all your skills?”
Leo understood. This old woman wanted to know the secret of his cultivation of spiritual power.
“What if I don’t tell you?” Leo retorted defiantly.
“Then I’ll make you regret it,” Janet threatened.
Before Janet could act, Leo quickly retreated. He realized that the black gas surrounding her was poisonous.
While retreating, Leo reached for a talisman and summoned it. Janet, with her keen eyes, noticed the talisman in Leo’s hand. Her pupils shrank, and her face displayed a hint of excitement.
The appearance of the talisman confirmed one thing for Janet: this kid named Leo was indeed a spiritual cultivator, as rumored. She was determined to capture him alive and pry the secret of his cultivation out of him.
But before Janet could react further, Leo activated the talisman. A dazzling bolt of lightning streaked across the sky, dispersing the poisonous black gas attacking him.
Though the lightning didn’t hit Janet, the shockwaves forced her to retreat several steps, clutching her chest. She almost spat out blood.
“What a powerful talisman,” Janet thought, temporarily shaken. However, this only fueled her determination to capture Leo.
Leo sneered and summoned another talisman, the Little Thunder Talisman.
“Boom!”
A deafening roar erupted in the forest. Janet had prepared to flee, hoping to deplete all of Leo’s talismans so she could overpower him with her superior combat skills. However, she had underestimated the power of the Little Thunder Talisman. After the thunderous explosion, the residual shockwaves knocked her down. She spat out blood.
Hidden on the side, Greg, who had been preparing to make a move, quickly emerged and summoned his flying sword. A purple light shot out, directly shattering the sword and piercing through Greg’s body.
Leo had now reached the lower-level Spiritualist Master realm, and with the advancement of his cultivation, Purple Radiance’s power had grown stronger.
Seeing Greg meet his end, Giles’s eyes filled with fury. He drew his own sword and lunged at Leo.
Leo, in response, activated an Ice Talisman. Greg’s body froze instantly, with the tip of Giles’s sword just centimeters from Leo’s throat.
With a press of his thumb and a swift movement, a blue streak of light passed through.
Under the razor-sharp edge of the Blue Phantom, Greg, who had been frozen, split into two halves.
Janet was now terrified, without a second thought, she turned and fled toward the direction of her sect.
Leo, however, didn’t pursue her. Instead, he collected a member of the Seven Stars Sword Sect who had been hiding in the treetops nearby.
Gripping the sect member’s collar, Leo used a threatening tone, “Where is the girl you kidnapped?”
“I don’t… I don’t know,” the sect member stammered, feeling as if his throat were in a vice.
“Then I’ll make you suffer!” Leo threated.
Terrified, the sect member quickly said, “She’s been drugged, in a car about a kilometer north from here.”
“Take me there!” Leo wasn’t entirely convinced by the sect member’s words.
With a firm grip on the sect member’s collar, Leo summoned a Gale Talisman. They dashed northward.
About a kilometer away, Leo found a black business car.
Opening the car door, he discovered Tina inside, unconscious.
After knocking the sect member unconscious, Leo carried Tina out of the car. With the remaining effects of the Gale Talisman, he hurried back toward Greenfield Village down the mountain.
Only when they were safely away did Leo feel his racing heart start to calm down.
No matter what, Tina’s well-being was a stroke of luck amidst misfortune.
Leo retrieved a silver needle case from his pocket and carefully inserted a needle into an acupoint on her head. Soon, Tina began to regain consciousness.
As she opened her eyes, Tina let out an initial scream, but when she realized it was Leo, her scream abruptly halted, and her mouth hung wide open in astonishment.
“Leo!” She exclaimed in astonishment. Tina looked around and realized she was inside a car with nothing but mountains outside the windows.
“Where are we?” Tina was confused.
“This is Greenfield. You were kidnapped,” Leo replied.
“Kidnapped?” Tina suddenly remembered the events from earlier when she was heading home. She pointed at Leo, accusing him, “It’s all because of you! Those people came after you!”
Leo sighed and fastened her seatbelt. Then, he moved to the driver’s seat and started the car. “Don’t worry; we’re going home.”
As the car left Greenfield, Tina glared at Leo, still angry. She asked, “Who were those people, and why were they after you?”
“They wanted to steal my gambling stone,” Leo quickly fabricated a reason.
“Steal your gambling stone?” Tina couldn’t comprehend.
Leo began weaving a story, claiming that he had found a valuable gambling stone in an antique shop and that envious people were now targeting him.
