Berserker’s fist landed squarely in the direwolf’s throat. With the direwolf’s fangs shattering, its body was sent flying, crashing violently against the iron cage. It lay on the ground, unable to rise again.
Berserker’s right fist was now a bloody mess.
Just as he defeated the fourth direwolf, the fifth and final direwolf, the leader of the pack, lunged at berserker, clamping its jaws onto his buttocks.
With a powerful tug, the direwolf tore a large chunk of flesh from berserker’s rear.
Berserker remained unfazed by the pain, swiftly turning to seize the direwolf by the scruff of its neck, tossing it away as if it were a sandbag.
A resounding crash echoed as the direwolf slammed into the iron cage, followed by a pitiful howl. It struggled briefly but failed to stand up.
Out of the five fierce and brutal direwolves, berserker had killed three, heavily wounded two. His combat prowess was nothing short of terrifying.
Leo couldn’t help but be surprised. He had expected that even with the enhancement of the drug, barehanded combat against five wolves would be a daunting task for any individual. Yet, the reality was quite the opposite.
Berserker raised his hands triumphantly, letting out an exhilarating roar.
The spectators who had bet on berserker erupted into cheers, while those who had placed their bets on direwolf or a draw were left disappointed.
“I knew berserker would win! I should have bet two million on him!” The man next to Leo was ecstatic and thrilled. He had wagered two million on berserker at odds of 1. 8, earning him a profit of 1. 6 million for this round. After deducting the one million he had lost in the previous round, he was left with a sixty thousand gain. Though not a significant sum for him, the feeling of winning was what mattered most.
After the conclusion of the second round of the arena match, staff members immediately administered anesthesia to both the severely injured direwolves and berserker, then carried them out of the arena.
The air inside the massive iron cage was filled with a nauseating stench of blood. Ursula, however, seemed entirely immune to the scent as she maintained her enchanting smile on her beautiful face.
She cleared her throat and spoke into the microphone, her voice echoing throughout the arena. “The second round of the competition has come to an end, and I believe everyone is still yearning for more. Next, we have the most thrilling and exciting challenge of the day-the Beast Duel! I invite all our esteemed guests to participate enthusiastically!”
The audience erupted into enthusiastic screams and cheers, even some of the previously composed wealthy individuals and women joined in the excitement.
Leo turned to the man beside him and asked, “What’s this Beast Duel all about?”
“The Beast Duel gives the attendees a chance to experience it firsthand. The arena sends out a powerful beast, and guests can either challenge it themselves or invite skilled fighters to face the beast in combat.”
“If the guest wins, they get their challenge fee back, plus an equal prize. If they lose, the challenge fee goes to the arena,” the man explained.
Leo understood the intricacies now. He realized why the audience was so excited. It was like going from watching a movie in the previous two matches to actually playing a game in the Beast Duel. Plus, the winnings equaled the challenge fee, so if you bet one million to challenge, and you won, you’d walk away with two million.
Considering Leo’s need to make money for the Cloud Dream Mountain villa, this seemed enticing.
“Is there a limit on the challenge fee?” Leo inquired.
The man replied, “It starts at one million and caps at three hundred million.”
Leo nodded, thinking that even though he didn’t have two hundred million on hand right now, he could still bet that amount. The system wouldn’t verify your actual balance when placing a bet.
So, if he won, he would make a clean two hundred million. That would give him enough money to participate in the villa auction.
Ursula’s voice rang out again, “Ladies and gentlemen, our next contestant in the Beast Duel is about to make his appearance. Keep your eyes on the arena.”
The audience’s attention shifted to the large arena as a ten-meter-square opening in the arena floor revealed a colossal cage slowly rising from below. Inside the cage was a massive creature.
At first, it seemed like a lion. No, it looked like a tiger. In fact, it appeared to be both-a the lion-tiger beast!
This the lion-tiger beast was enormous, nearly twice the size of an adult lion.
“Roar!” The the lion-tiger beast let out a roar that sounded both like a tiger and a lion, sending the audience into a frenzy. Many of them had never seen such a creature before.
When Leo caught sight of the beast, his pupils suddenly contracted, and amazement filled his eyes. Even from this distance, he could sense the unique aura emanating from the creature inside the cage.
Though the aura was faint, Leo was certain-this the lion-tiger beast possessed spiritual power.
“Would anyone like to challenge it? Please input your challenge fee on your membership cards. The highest bidder will have the opportunity to challenge the the lion-tiger beast,” Ursula’s voice echoed again.
Wealthy individuals in the audience began entering their challenge amounts.
Leo noticed that these individuals were accompanied by stern-looking men. Evidently, these men were brought along by the wealthy attendees specifically for today’s Beast Duel.
The liquid crystal screen at the top of the massive iron cage displayed the challenge amounts. Five minutes later, the highest bid had already reached ten million.
As the five-minute deadline expired, Ursula announced, “Congratulations to guest number 01376 for winning the first opportunity to challenge in the Beast Duel!”
As soon as Ursula finished speaking, a man wearing a black vest stood up in the A section of the audience.
This man was undoubtedly towering, almost as tall as two meters. From a distance, he resembled a black iron tower, with bulging muscles exuding explosive strength.
His imposing physique was no less impressive than berserker’s from the previous matches.
The black-clad man descended from the audience seats, and someone opened the massive iron cage’s door for him. He entered the cage.
Once the iron door was sealed, the black-clad man and the the lion-tiger beast were separated by a steel barrier.
“Roar!” The the lion-tiger beast, upon seeing the newcomer, unleashed a fierce roar that sent shockwaves throughout the arena. The tremendous sound forced the black-clad man to raise his hand to shield his face and take a step back.
Originally, the black-clad man had been confident, but in that earthshaking roar, his expression turned solemn. He could sense the extraordinary power of the the lion-tiger beast.
