Stan was now reconsidering his options. It seemed that her woman’s previous proposal wouldn’t work; they probably couldn’t come up with that much cash. Instead, he decided to take a more sinister approach and leaned in closer to Sophia.
“What… What are you planning?” Sophia asked nervously, sensing his ill intentions.
Stan studied Sophia carefully and made approving sounds. She was incredibly beautiful, even more so than his own woman.
“Beautiful lady, I’ll cut you some slack. How about you spend tonight with me, and I’ll forget about this matter?” Stan leered with a wicked grin.
Sophia took a step back, anger in her eyes. “Shameless!”
“Darling, I admit, I’m a bit shameless. But since I’ve taken a liking to you, there’s no running away now,” Stan said, becoming increasingly audacious.
Jessica stepped in front of her daughter, pulling out her phone. “You all need to leave immediately, or I’ll call the police!”
Stan snatched the phone from Jessica’s hand, wearing a sinister grin. “Don’t scare me. I’m terrified of the police. I’ll leave you with this: if the beauty behind you doesn’t cooperate with me, none of you will leave this room.”
Sophia felt unfortunate; this situation was caused by Barry’s recklessness. However, Keith and Monica secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Stan’s focus was now solely on Sophia, and he shouldn’t bother pursuing Barry’s case further.
“If you dare to harm my daughter, the Henley family won’t let you off!” Jessica threatened, bringing up the Henley family’s name.
Since they entered the room, Stan had been hearing about the Henley Group and the Henley family. Did these people have some kind of significant background here in Langstel? Stan pondered for a moment and then asked, “Which Henley family?”
Jessica sighed in relief, thinking that the Henley family name had worked its magic. Keith hurriedly said, “It’s the Langstel’s Henley family, and the current head is Teresa Henley. This lady here is Sophia, the CEO of Sophia Cosmetics.” Keith pointed toward Sophia.
Stan signaled to his henchman, who promptly kicked Keith to the ground with a thud. “Don’t speak unless I ask you to, or I’ll shut that filthy mouth of yours!” Stan scolded.
Keith regretted in his heart. He should’ve allowed this guy to focus on Sophia instead.
Stan continued, “I see, Langste’s Henley family, I’ve heard of them.”
Upon hearing this, Jessica breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that despite being a second-tier family in Langstel, the Henley family name still carried some weight.
But then, Stan’s next words shattered Jessica’s hopes. “You’re Sophia, right? I remember your story from four years ago. You married a loser. Your wedding even made it to the front page of the newspaper,” Stan said, laughing, as he pointed at Barry. “Is that loser your husband?”
Keith and Monica dared not say a word. Barry, who had already been frightened into submission, kept quiet.
Sophia replied coldly, “I suggest you leave now, or you’ll regret entering this room.”
“Wow, what a bossy lady you are! I like your attitude! After I go and take care of my guests, I’ll come back to nurture our relationship properly,” Stan said with a wicked grin. He tossed Jessica’s phone onto the table and instructed his two henchmen, “You guys keep an eye on them here. If anyone dares to call the cops, make sure to teach them a lesson.”
As Stan left with the woman and his two henchmen, the people in the room were in disarray.
“Sweetie, why don’t you call your grandmother and ask her to come and rescue us?” Two men were guarding the room, so they unable to make a call to the police. Jessica thought this was the only feasible option.
However, Martin shook his head. “It won’t work. Mom won’t get involved in such matters. If we call her, it will only bring more embarrassment.”
Jessica stared at Martin indignantly. “Then what should we do? We can’t just sit here and let that guy bully Sophia!”
Sophia, with an angry expression on her face, looked at Barry who was struggling to get up from the floor. If it weren’t for him trying to harass that woman earlier, they wouldn’t have gotten into this mess.
Monica, fiercely protective of her son, confronted Sophia’s disdainful look. “Sophia, what’s with that expression when you’re looking at my son? He was just trying to chat up someone, what’s wrong with that!?”
With Stan absent, Keith’s confidence grew. “First of all, let me clarify that you can’t blame us for what happened today. That guy was completely unreasonable.”
In this lifetime, they had encountered such eccentric relatives. It was likely they had disrupted world peace in their previous life.
Sophia, watching Keith and Monica, sneered, “Since you believe your precious son is innocent, then when that man comes back, I’ll let him hear exactly what you just said.”
Keith and Monica were left speechless by Sophia’s words.
“What’s right or wrong doesn’t matter now! The most urgent thing is to figure out how to deal with this situation. Sophia, maybe you should call your grandmother,” Jessica suggested, considering the threat from the man earlier. She thought it would be safer to call Old Mrs. Henley.
“Mom, don’t you know her temperament? She won’t get involved in something like this. Besides, these men are obviously from a rough background. Even if grandma steps in, it won’t help,” Sophia replied.
“So what should we do? We can’t just sit here and do nothing!”
“There’s someone who can help us,” Sophia thought, a certain figure coming to mind.
“Who!?” Everyone exclaimed simultaneously, their eyes all fixed on Sophia.
“Leo!”
“Leo!?” They asked in disbelief, their eyes widening.
Jessica looked at Sophia in astonishment. “Sophia, you’re talking about our Leo, aren’t you?”
“Yes, Mom, it’s your son-in-law, Leo!” Sophia affirmed confidently.
Martin sighed. “Sweetie, it might be better not to call him. If he comes, he might just end up getting beaten by that man too. Perhaps we should call Bruno; he has extensive connections and might be able to help us.”
Upon hearing Leo’s name, Barry’s already disheveled face contorted further with anger. “Sophia, I know you don’t want to help me, but there’s no need to humiliate me by mentioning that waste of space, Leo. Even if I get beaten to death, it won’t be Leo, another waste, who saves me!”
