Curitis made a call, and after about five or six minutes, his five comrades stood in front of Leo.
Leo assessed the five individuals while Curitis began introducing them.
“Mr. Bloomer, on the left, this is Roy Haggai. He’s skilled in freestyle fighting and firearms, and he’s won the national freestyle fighting championship before.”
Leo’s gaze shifted towards Roy Haggai. Among the five, he had the most robust physique.
Curitis then pointed to the second person on the left and continued, “This is Jim Silas. He excels in tracking and reconnaissance, and he once held the title of the best scout in the army.”
Leo’s focus turned to Jim Silas. Compared to Roy Haggai, his build was notably smaller, even a whole head shorter, and he had a very ordinary appearance. He was the kind of person who could blend into a crowd without standing out.
“Beside Jim is Clark Dorothy. He’s skilled with various firearms and proficient in driving all sorts of vehicles, even tanks and fighter jets.”
Leo looked at Clark Dorothy and smiled, “Too bad I can only let you drive cars here.”
Clark Dorothy replied enthusiastically, “Mr. Bloomer, being able to drive here is already something I’m grateful for.”
“Next to Clark is Bard Adela, who once held the national Taekwondo championship belt.”
Bard Adela was the largest among the five, his eyes sharp and lively.
“Lastly, this is Jonas Gus, adept in computers and hacking.”
Jonas Gus wore black-framed glasses and was the youngest of the five, appearing well-mannered and gentle.
With the introductions concluded, Curitis pointed towards Leo and said, “He’s Mr. Bloomer, the mastermind behind Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company, and your boss.”
“Hello, Mr. Bloomer!” the five individuals greeted in unison.
Leo was already elated; these people were undoubtedly talented. They might prove invaluable in the future.
“What are their current positions in the factory?” Leo inquired, looking at Curitis.
Curitis answered, “Clark Dorothy is assigned to the driver position by Mr. Simpson, Jonas Gus manages computers and networks, Roy Haggai, Jim Silas, and Bard Adela work in the production workshop.”
Leo nodded, finding these arrangements quite reasonable.
Addressing the five people, Leo spoke with a firm voice, “From now on, focus on your work here. In terms of salary, the base pay is ten thousand dollars, and there will also be bonuses and performance rewards.”
Upon hearing the figure of ten thousand dollars, the eyes of all five individuals lit up. Previously, they had worked as waiters in restaurants, laborers, and security guards, earning only two to three thousand dollars a month. Supporting their families had been a challenge.
Now, starting here, they would earn a monthly salary of ten thousand dollars, akin to the pay of elite white-collar workers in the city.
“Additionally, if you encounter any difficulties in work or life, feel free to inform me, and I will do my best to assist you,” Leo added.
With such favorable terms, the five were thrilled, and they simultaneously and gratefully exclaimed, “Thank you, Mr. Bloomer!”
Having met Curitis’s five comrades, Leo left the parking lot and headed to the dormitory area.
Leo had already called Jennifer ahead of time to inform her to let Sarah know, and then he waited for the two of them downstairs at the employee dormitory building.
Speaking of the newest buildings in the factory, there were only the office building and the employee dormitories, both of which had been built five years ago.
As a result, the office building and the employee dormitories were not part of the current renovation scope.
Leo had also been inside the dormitories; they were suites with a living room, bedroom, bathroom, and kitchen, fully equipped with utilities.
Jennifer and Sarah came downstairs, and upon seeing Leo, they hurriedly ran over.
“Leo!” Jennifer and Sarah called out with smiles.
“How do you feel here?” Leo asked.
Jennifer laughed, “The living conditions are great; it feels like home.”
“That’s good. Let’s go.”
“Where are we going?”
“I’m taking you to your workplace.”
“Workplace?”
Weren’t they supposed to work in the factory?
Jennifer and Sarah exchanged glances but refrained from asking further questions, following behind Leo.
After getting into the car and leaving Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company, the two women’s curiosity grew.
Sarah couldn’t help but ask, “Leo, where are you taking us?”
“To a clinic,” Leo replied.
The clinic?
Both women exchanged puzzled glances.
As the car turned left and passed a traffic light, Leo suddenly slammed on the brakes.
The powerful inertia caused Jennifer and Sarah’s faces to collide with the front seats. Luckily, the seats were soft, so it wasn’t very painful.
The abrupt braking was because a young man suddenly darted out from the roadside. The car hadn’t hit him, but he awkwardly tumbled to the ground in a comical pose.
Jennifer and Sarah urgently asked, “Leo, what’s happening?”
Leo unfastened his seatbelt and replied calmly, “Just a minor issue, a fraud.”
Opening the car door, he stepped out.
Frauds finding trouble were usually stubborn. Jennifer and Sarah felt tense; they, too, got out of the car.
Before them, a disheveled-haired young man lay on the ground, clutching his leg and contorting his face in pain, intermittently groaning.
Upon seeing the car owner approach, his cries became louder and more pitiful.
Jennifer and Sarah appeared, and the young man’s wails suddenly paused for a moment, replaced by a jealousy that was hard to conceal.
Driving a luxury car and having two beautiful girls by his side; rich people were truly showing off. I, too, need to aspire to be wealthy, starting with faking accidents!
These shameless thoughts surged in the young man’s mind, and he continued to wail.
“My leg is in so much pain; it’s broken!” the young man yelled loudly at Leo.
Leo squatted in front of him and inquired, “Is your left leg broken, or your right leg?”
“No, both of them are broken!” The agonized expression on the young man’s face looked fake; Leo could tell this guy was a novice in this type of scam, and he also lacked acting talent.
“Since they’re broken, you should go to the hospital. Don’t block the road,” Leo replied with a gentle smile on his face.
The young man was momentarily taken aback, then he shouted, “Go to the hospital? You’re the one who hit me with your car! Who do you think you are, driving a crappy car and acting all high and mighty? My legs are broken, and you owe me money!”
“How much do you want?” Leo asked with a smile.
“Twenty thousand, no, forty thousand! Twenty thousand for one leg, forty thousand!” The young man clamored.
“Smack!”
A loud slap echoed.
The young man was left dazed, forgetting to cry out.
Although he was just a novice in the game, he had already succeeded a few times. Most car owners he targeted were willing to settle privately and pay compensation.
Even if there was a dashcam in the car, they would at most not want to pay and would just report to the police.
After the police arrived, he would at most need to admit fault and apologize. After all, there wasn’t any law specifically saying that someone in a scam like this would be arrested and imprisoned.
However, today’s car owner was not following the usual script. What did it mean when he slapped him right off the bat?
