Thinking about these things, Jessica couldn’t help but glare at Leo, who was cleaning. After all, it was his lousy idea.
However, Leo didn’t care at all. He put down the broom and poured a cup of tea for Grandma Teresa. As for Bruno and Fanny, he couldn’t be bothered.
Just like before, Teresa didn’t bother giving him more than a passing glance.
After taking a seat on the sofa, Teresa asked, “Where’s Sophia?”
“Mom, Sophia has a severe cold and is sleeping in her bedroom.” Jessica had no choice but to stick to the story.
“I’ll go see her.” Teresa was about to stand up.
But Leo interjected, “Grandma, Sophia has a highly contagious cold. You can’t go see her. If there’s anything, let me know, and I’ll pass it on to her.”
Teresa’s gaze turned cold, and she shot Leo a sideways glance.
Bruno, standing nearby, shouted angrily, “Leo, what do you think you are? How dare you stop Grandma from seeing Sophia!?”
Leo approached Bruno, fixing him with a frigid stare. “Bruno, if you want to act out, you’ve picked the wrong place. I can rub you against the ground if you want that so much. Believe me?”
Recalling what happened at Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company, Bruno’s heart skipped a beat. He didn’t dare meet Leo’s gaze or say anything.
Leo turned to Teresa. “Grandma, you’re here today for the matter concerning Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company, right? I distinctly remember that during the family meeting, you left this matter to Bruno and Fanny. Now that they’ve caused problems and turned to Sophia for help, is that correct?”
Hearing Leo’s words, Teresa was taken aback. Her chubby face trembled slightly-how could this freeloader dare to speak to her like that?
Fanny couldn’t stand it anymore. “Leo, are you trying to rebel? Do you have any idea of Grandma’s status? A waste like you has no right to speak in front of her!”
Leo’s icy gaze settled on Fanny. “If you dare say one more word, I’ll toss you out!”
“You, you dare!”
Leo swiftly approached Fanny, who felt a gust of cold wind before being overwhelmed by an imposing presence.
“See if I dare!”
Fanny stepped back in fear.
“Leo, stop!” Jessica urgently called out.
She was utterly baffled. His useless a son-in-law, who used to be so submissive, was now acting so dominantly in front of Teresa.
Suppressing her anger, Teresa coldly stared at Leo. “You don’t have to put on a show here. Is it true that Sophia isn’t sick?”
“It’s true, Sophia isn’t sick,” Leo said calmly.
This revelation was like dropping a bomb in the room!
Martin and Jessica turned pale. They had planned to see the lie through, but Leo had suddenly exposed it.
“Leo, how dare you spout nonsense in front of Grandma!” Jessica couldn’t comprehend it. If they were going to pretend, they should have stuck to it. Quitting halfway was pointless, especially since Grandma came in person.
Wait a second, was Leo’s goal to make Grandma Teresa visit personally?
Martin was equally flustered and quickly explained, “Mom, Leo was just speaking nonsense earlier. Sophia really is sick.”
“Both of you, shut up! I’m asking Leo right now!” Teresa pointed her cane at Leo. “Leo, it seems like this was all your doing. Fine, I underestimated you. So tell me, what’s your purpose?”
Leo smiled. “Grandma, my purpose is simple. Sophia secured the exclusive distributorship for Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company, but the decision to change the person in charge of the collaboration was yours. Now that Bruno and Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company are at odds, and you’ve turned to Sophia again, shouldn’t you admit your mistake to her?”
“Leo, what kind of thing are you to make Grandma apologize to Sophia!?” Bruno yelled.
Leo glanced at him askance. “Are you any better?”
“You!”
As the words came out, Bruno realized he’d been played.
Martin, Jessica, and Fanny stood there, jaws dropping. What kind of medicine had this useless son-in-law taken today? He had even made Grandma apologize. He was truly outrageously audacious!
“Leo, you-you better get lost and do the laundry. Otherwise, I’ll deal with you by our family punishment rules,” Jessica was a bit scared of Grandma going on a rampage and wanted Leo gone.
Leo seemed to have not heard Jessica and simply stared at Grandma Teresa.
“Grandma, I’m sure you’re well aware that only Sophia can salvage the situation now. If Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company chooses another company, this golden opportunity will be lost,” Leo added.
Suppressing her rage, Teresa regained her composure and said coldly, “Leo, aren’t you afraid that I might just give up the distributorship and then remove Sophia as the general manager through a board meeting? By that time, you won’t be able to enjoy the good life and will live on street again.”
“Grandma, you wouldn’t do something like that. Everything you do is for the Henley family. Within the Henley Group, Sophia’s company has the best performance, and you know that better than anyone. Besides, the opportunity with Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company isn’t something that comes around all the time,” Leo retorted.
The old lady’s face displayed a cold smile. “It seems like you’ve already figured me out, huh?”
“Grandma, I didn’t mean to offend you. I’m just feeling unfair for Sophia. If I’ve upset you, I apologize sincerely,” Leo’s expression changed to one of earnestness.
Today, Teresa finally realized that she had underestimated this supposed useful son-in-law from the Henley family. He possessed a level of cunning and tactics that most people couldn’t fathom, and he dared to play them out right in front of her.
Teresa’s face darkened, and she remained silent.
Just then, the living room’s door swung open, and Sophia walked in from outside.
“Grandma, what brings you here?” Sophia’s face showed surprise, and she quickly grasped why her grandmother had come.
Teresa rose from the sofa. “Sophia, the matter of collaborating with Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company, I think it should be under your full responsibility.”
“Grandma, I talked to Mr. Simpson at Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company today. He’s willing to continue the collaboration,” Sophia said.
Teresa nodded. “Sophia, you’ve done well.”
Teresa then turned to Leo. “Leo, no matter your intentions, if you dare to covet the Henley family’s wealth, I’ll make sure your end is a painful one!”
Leo chuckled. “Grandma, have you forgotten? I’m just a freeloading son-in-law.”
“Hmph! Behave yourself!” The old lady hobbled out with her cane towards the door. Bruno and Fanny quickly went to support her.
