Bruno closed his eyes in fear and let out a grim scream.
“Thud!”
The cement ground beneath Bruno seemed to tremble, but he didn’t feel any pain.
He quickly opened his eyes and looked toward Leo’s right foot.
Leo had already moved his foot away, revealing a footprint right where he had stomped!
Heavens, this was solid cement ground. How could a single stomp create a footprint? It must have taken immense force!
Terrifying!
Could it be that this loser Bruno spent the past four years secretly learning martial arts somewhere after marrying into the Henley family?
“Bruno, if you dare to provoke me again, that footprint on the ground will appear on you!” Leo’s voice was as cold as ice.
As Bruno mustered the courage to get up from the ground, all he could see was Leo’s retreating figure.
Bruno wiped the cold sweat that had formed on his forehead and brushed off the dirt on his clothes.
Just as he was about to take a step, he almost tripped and fell again. His legs were weak, trembling when he needed them the most.
“Leo, screw you. Don’t think I’m scared of you just because you know some punches and kicks. You’re just a dog the Henley family raised. Let’s see how I deal with you from now on!”
Bruno cursed Leo loudly, even though Leo was no longer in sight.
After venting, Bruno felt slightly relieved. He composed himself and continued towards the office building.
Leo had already reached the security gate, where the five security guards, including the chubby former leader, stood in a straight line. Though they had sweat on their foreheads, they remained completely still.
In front of the guards, Curitis was giving a speech, “Stand here for three hours. If anyone moves, get lost immediately.”
Seeing this scene, a smile appeared on Leo’s face. It seemed that Curitis had effectively disciplined these once-spoiled security guards.
As Leo approached, Curitis quickly saluted, “Greetings, Mr. Bloomer.”
Leo nodded. “How’s it going? Are these guys working well? If not, you can recruit a new batch.”
Hearing this, the previously relaxed chubby security guard immediately tensed up, trying to hide his belly fat.
Times had changed. Herbal Magic Cosmetics Company was now under Azure Financial, meaning anyone working here was an employee of Azure Financial. Not to mention the salary raise, there was a different level of prestige about their job.
So these five guards, who were used to a laid-back life, were now fully committed to enduring a month of rigorous training and assessment to secure their positions.
Curitis replied, “We’ve started them with the most basic training. We’ll see results in a month.”
“Alright, keep it up. If you have any issues, go to Alvin.”
“Understood, Mr. Bloomer.”
Leo headed to the left of the security office, where he had parked his car. Once he drove out of the gate, Curitis bellowed, “What are you staring at? Stand straight!”
Not long after leaving, Leo’s phone rang. It was Renee calling.
“Leo, are you free now? It’s urgent.”
“What’s going on?”
“My cousin’s grandfather has fallen seriously ill. His symptoms are severe, and Dr. Lee can’t help. I’m hoping you can come and take a look.”
“Sure, where’s the address?”
“In Millennium Garden.”
Hanging up, Leo opened his map, set the navigation, and headed for Millennium Garden.
Meanwhile, downstairs at the office building, Bruno dialed the number of Alvin’s newly hired secretary, Kevin.
“Hello, is this Secretary Kevin? I’m Bruno from Breeze Cosmetics. I’m here today to discuss distributorship. I can go straight to the third floor, right? Okay.”
Ending the call, Bruno straightened his clothes and walked inside.
On the third floor, Bruno met Kevin, who then escorted him to the office of the factory director.
But before he could enter, Alvin stepped out. Kevin quickly introduced, “Mr. Henley, this is our factory manager, Alvin Simpson.”
A smile appeared on Bruno’s face as he approached and extended his right hand, “Mr. Simpson, hello. I’m Bruno Henley, the manager of Breeze Cosmetics.”
If it hadn’t been for Leo’s orders earlier, Alvin might have shaken his hand and invited him to the office for some tea and chat. However, now, Alvin completely ignored the outstretched hand.
“Kevin, don’t bring just anyone into the office building. Breeze Cosmetics? Never heard of it. If there’s nothing serious, please leave.”
Bruno awkwardly withdrew his hand, and his smile turned stiff, “Mr. Simpson, Breeze Cosmetics is a subsidiary of the Henley Group. I’m here today-”
Alvin waved his hand dismissively, “I have never heard about you. Now I have things to attend to. Kevin, show the guest out.”
Bruno cursed inwardly, “If it weren’t for the complete acquisition by Azure Financial, your factory would be nothing. I wouldn’t have come even if you begged me.”
Despite these thoughts, Bruno forced a smile, “Mr. Simpson, I heard that your company is looking for an exclusive distributor. I’m here today to discuss about this matter.”
“You’re Bruno Henley?” Alvin glanced at him.
“Yes, that’s me. Here’s my business card.” Bruno handed over his card, but Alvin didn’t take it.
“That’s right then. You’re not the right person for it. If you want to discuss distributorship, get someone else to come!” Alvin dropped these words and turned to leave.
Bruno panicked, “Hey, Mr. Bloomer, I assure you, I’m the right person. Don’t leave.”
Wanting to chase after him, Bruno was stopped by Secretary Kevin, “Mr. Henley, please leave.”
With a frustrated expression, Bruno descended the stairs. He felt utterly dejected.
Initially, he had thought that success was guaranteed with his personal involvement. But that Alvin guy had actually snubbed him like that!
As Bruno thought about his encounter with Leo earlier, he became even more frustrated. “Damn it,” he muttered to himself, “I forgot to check my horoscope before leaving and ended up running into that freeloading waste of space. He ruined my luck.”
But wait, Leo had come from the direction of the office building. Could he have gone to see Alvin? That would explain why Alvin was treating him so poorly; Leo must have badmouthed him in front of Alvin! But how did Leo know that Bruno would be here?
It all made sense now – Sophia must have sent him! If things fell apart between Bruno and Renee, then Sophia would have her chance. The thought made Bruno clench his fists in anger.
As they approached Millennium Park, Leo sent a quick WhatsApp message to Renee letting her know he was about to arrive. When he was there, Renee was waiting outside for him.
