“Madame, there’s another one over here!” One of the team members pointed a gun at a spot in the corner.
Madame Godwin followed their gaze and saw a long trail of blood on the ground, where a robber cowered in fear.
“Call 911!” Madame Godwin commanded, then signaled for a subordinate to disarm the robber.
“Madame, what’s going on here?” The policeman beside Madame Godwin had been through many missions, but this was the first time encountering something so eerie.
Madame Godwin shook her head. “I don’t know either. First, get the uninjured robbers into the car. Then, inspect the scene and gather information.”
The three motionless robbers on the ground were eventually lifted into the police car.
After a thorough examination of the scene, confirming no other robbers, Madame Godwin holstered her gun and asked a nearby officer, “What about the bank staff?”
“They’ve all escaped, and the bank manager is outside,” the officer replied.
“Since this is a significant case, have the bank manager and staff come to the station for statements. Also, gather all the evidence from the scene, including the bank’s surveillance footage.”
“Yes, Madame!”
Although they had easily captured four robbers, Madame Godwin felt no joy because none of this was her doing; it was the work of the “mysterious person.”
In a secluded alley, Leo strolled leisurely.
“Hey, kid, stop right there!” Scott Stowe’s voice echoed.
Leo turned slowly, a smirk on his face. “You guys have been following me for quite a while. What’s up?”
“Of course, there’s something. You offended me at the bank, and today, I’m going to teach you a lesson you’ll never forget,” Scott Stowe sneered.
“Oh really? Well, if you’re giving it, I’ll take it,” Leo replied with a faint smile.
Scott Stowe clapped his hands and called out loudly, “Guys, come out.”
Leo saw several thugs with steel pipes emerge from behind Scott Stowe and his woman. Their faces bore sly grins, some had flashy dyed hair, and others wore hippie clothes, all indicating their involvement in the criminal world.
A man with a scar on his face, cigarette dangling from his mouth, appeared last.
“Scar, that’s him!” Scott Stowe pointed at Leo.
Scar followed Scott Stowe’s gesture and then dropped his cigarette when he looked ahead.
“Scar, long time no see. You’re still as cool as ever. Is your leg better?” Leo said with a smile.
Seeing the smile on Leo’s face, Scar trembled, his right leg suddenly throbbing with pain. He turned around, raised his hand, and delivered two slaps.
“Smack, smack.” Bright red handprints appeared on Scott Stowe and his woman’s faces.
The woman was taken aback and let out a scream. Scott Stowe held his face and lamented, “Scar, I asked you to deal with that kid, why are you hitting me?”
“Damn, I’m hitting you! Are you blind? You dare to offend Mr. Bloomer!” Scar roared in anger.
“Mr. Bloomer? Who’s Mr. Bloomer?” Scott Stowe looked confused.
Scar slapped him again, then instructed the henchmen beside him, “Beat the hell out of these two fools!”
Scar wasn’t one for many words.
His henchmen had been eager for action, just knowing that when Scar said someone needed a beating, they went ahead and did it.
The woman was terrified and shrieked, “Scar, we gave you fifty thousand bucks! You can’t hit us!”
Scar took out a wad of bills and slapped her with it. “Fifty thousand, huh? You lowlifes, take it! beat them hard!”
What followed were agonizing screams from Scott Stowe and his woman, akin to pigs being slaughtered.
As the henchmen attended to Scott Stowe and his woman, Scar walked up to Leo, offering a cigarette. “Mr. Bloomer, if I’d known it was you, I wouldn’t have dared to trouble you, even if I had the guts of a lion. It’s a misunderstanding today. Please forgive me.”
Leo didn’t take the cigarette; instead, he patted Scar’s shoulder. “Scar, you did well.”
Did well?
What was going on? Scar was momentarily baffled but quickly understood. He muttered without looking back, “Guys, am I hearing the cries getting softer?”
“Scar, we can’t keep beating them anymore. They’ve fainted,” one of the henchmen replied.
“Mr. Bloomer, you see…”
“Clean up this mess, take your crew, and get away from here.”
“Fine.” Scar replied, about to turn away. Then he remembered something, reaching into his pocket and producing a business card.
“Mr. Bloomer, here’s my card. If you need help with anything-education, debt collection, surveillance, whatever-give me a call. I’m at your service 24/7.”
Leo took Scar’s card, glanced at it, and saw “Immaculate Home Services Company, General Manager: Scar” along with a string of phone numbers.
Suppressing a laugh, Leo pocketed the card and walked away.
“Mr. Bloomer, take care!” Scar shouted after him.
Leo rubbed his temples. Why did that sound so strange?
After a detour, Leo returned to the parking lot, hopped into his Porsche, and headed straight for Nicola’s place.
After returning the car to her and, at her insistence, cooking another herbal meal, Leo had some time to spare. He decided to head to Heaven’s Extreme Stone on Clouddream Mountain for some cultivation.
Lately, he had a feeling he was on the verge of breaking through to the next level of a Spiritualist.
Flagging down a taxi, Leo gave the driver the address, but the driver refused.
The reason? The distance was too far, and after dropping Leo off, the driver would have to return empty-handed, which wasn’t profitable.
Leo threw out an offer of a thousand bucks! So that the driver could take him to the Clouddream Mountain villa area and wait for him there. Afterward, the driver could drive him back to the city.
The temptation of money was strong, and the driver finally agreed to take Leo.
Upon reaching the mountain, Leo had the driver wait at the villa area and made his way to the peak of Clouddream Mountain.
Climbing up the Heaven’s Extreme Stone, Leo folded his legs, closed his eyes, and formed a hand seal. He began cultivating the Nine Heavens Star Chart.
Three hours later, a red halo appeared on Leo’s body, a deeper shade than before.
The halo seemed to have an endless attraction, continuously absorbing spiritual energy from the heavens and earth…
After another ten minutes, Leo suddenly opened his eyes, and the halo dispersed.
With a flash of determination, Leo’s body erupted with a powerful aura, causing even the air to whistle around him.
