Chapter 105: Treating Differently

“You can look down on him, but please treat him as a person, not as a disposable tool!”
Leo’s bedroom door on the second floor was not completely closed, and he could clearly hear every word Sophia said.
Sophia standing up for herself in front of Jessica was a first-time occurrence, a rare show of courage.
Leo couldn’t help but feel an unreal sensation. Could it be that his nominal wife was actually developing a liking for him?
Martin, after listening to Sophia’s words, set aside the newspaper and affectionately said, “My dear daughter, I’m sorry you had to endure this.”
“Dad, it was my choice, and I don’t feel mistreated,” Sophia’s eyes teared up.
In reality, ever since marrying Leo, Sophia had been convinced that she would eventually divorce him. It was only a matter of time.
Sophia was a person who valued feelings deeply. Marrying someone without any feelings or emotions was like being part of a farce in her eyes.
A year ago, Sophia had already considered divorcing Leo, but at that time, the company was on the rise and work matters kept her busy, causing the plan to be postponed.
However, the day Leo brought up divorce at the restaurant, Sophia felt an unexpected pang of unhappiness and resistance in her heart.
Although she acted as if she didn’t care, she knew that over the four years, this man, who was seen as worthless by others, had managed to find his way into her heart.
Sophia couldn’t deceive her own heart, which was why she rushed downstairs to speak her mind to her parents.
Leo’s heart was deeply moved as well. Sophia had stood up for him, so how could he hide away in his bedroom?
“Mom, I won’t divorce Sophia. I’ll treat her well for the rest of my life,” Leo walked down to the living room and gently wiped away the tears at the corners of Sophia’s eyes.
“Mom, this is my work ID.”
Jessica received the work ID that Leo handed over, feeling somewhat dazed. It had Leo’s photo and his job title.
Chief Gemstone Appraiser at Wilde Jewelry Company!
The next morning, Leo left the house with Sophia. While she went to work, Leo headed to Nicola’s place to return the Porsche, which he had informed her about on WhatsApp the previous night.
Leo had never even considered going to the Wilde Jewelry Company’s office to work because sitting in an office was just too dull. As the Chief Gemstone Appraiser, Leo had the privilege of flexible working hours.
Regarding the monthly task of selecting a high-quality jade from rough stones for Wilde Jewelry Company, it was a piece of cake for the current Leo.
The only thing that intrigued Leo was the emerald warehouse on the third basement floor of the Fly Building. However, he had recently absorbed all the spiritual energy from the emeralds there, so he would have to wait until new stones arrived.
Before heading to Nicola’s place, Leo decided to stop by the bank to deposit the $20 million check from August Browne. He parked his car in a nearby parking lot not far from Fortune Bank.
Upon entering the bank’s hall, Leo grabbed a queue number from the machine. Glancing at the number, he couldn’t help but frown. There were still thirty people ahead of him!
Leo took note that, while there were five service windows, only two were operational. The other three displayed signs indicating they were not serving customers at the moment.
“This bank has terrible service. I’ve been waiting here for over half an hour. It’s such a waste of time!” complained a middle-aged man.
“Half an hour? I’ve been waiting for an hour. There are still seven or eight people ahead of me. My mother needs money for surgery, and she’s waiting. I should’ve gone to another bank!” grumbled another customer.
“If only I had a VIP card. Look at the VIP lane, no one’s there,” a woman pointed at the VIP lane next to the regular windows.
Leo couldn’t stand waiting any longer. He took a number for the VIP lane, only to be told by the bank employee that he couldn’t use the VIP lane without a VIP card.
As Leo was about to inquire about obtaining a VIP card, a man and a woman approached the VIP lane.
“Honey, I want that dress. It’s really nice, not expensive, only sixty thousand. Can you buy it for me later?” A woman with a cloying voice spoke from behind Leo.
“Sure thing, sweetheart. After I deposit the money, I’ll take you to buy it!” The chubby man wrapped his arm around the woman’s waist, balancing a large men’s handbag in his other hand.
The man released the woman, went straight to Leo, and pushed him aside. “Excuse me, I need to do some business. Don’t block my way.”
Seeing the man, the bank employee put down her phone and smiled, “Mr. Stowe, what business would you like to handle today?”
Scott Stowe took out a check from his bag and slapped it on the counter with an air of grandeur. “This is a one million cash check. Please deposit it into my personal account.”
The bank employee eagerly took the check. “Mr. Stowe, please wait a moment. I’ll take care of it for you.”
If there was one thing that could make the bank employees happy at work, it was seeing cash or checks. With the current economic environment and intense competition, their performance was directly tied to the amount of deposits.
“Wait a minute. I was here first. You have to process my transaction first!” Leo’s voice echoed coldly.
Hearing this, the bank employee’s face turned cold as well. “Sir, I already told you. This is the VIP lane. Without a VIP card, please use the regular window for transactions.”
